If we want to celebrate title #9 on the ice in St. Paùl on April 13th, we better figure out how to not give up this many goals this often. We better tighten up in our own end once the playoffs start.

We are just losing games in overtime….. nothing to worry about in the playoffs

There are some on this forum that are very jealous of hockey. Hockey has facilities, funding, fans and success. These fans like to boast that if hockey wasn't a priority and the funding was diverted to football, we would magically be perennial national champs. Of course it isn't that simple and you don't tear down one successful program to try to build another. You try to build another successful program in addition to what you have.

Now I'm a big UND football fan too, and there is no doubt they could use some additional funding, probably mostly in the form of coaching salaries (and maybe some new white jerseys), but to blaming hockey is just the quick scapegoat. Any easy way of showing how jealous they are of the success they want for the sport they don't care about.

Had Ralph donated all that money towards a football stadium, you wouldn't hear a peep from this crowd, and how great would it be if we had someone willing to donate that for football as well. It would be incredible! But most schools don't get that for any sport let alone one. The REA has been fantastic for hockey and the community. The Alerus isn't a bad facility either. Its not my person favorite, but its not a bad place to watch a game.

Rather than placing blame on the alumni that did donate a ton to the University, I'd focus more on our AD who hands out unwarranted contract extensions and can't seem to find some more money in our alumni base. It doesn't even need to be a ton more, but they do need to increase the salaries to be competitive. Maybe that will be the focus now that Phase 2 is on its way. I'm not sure it is even that much more money that would need to be raise .... I have no idea, but something needs to be done. When Bubba is gone, it would be really nice to see UND make a splash in hiring (but I doubt it). Problems run deeper at UND that money. There is also just and administrative approach and routine that never seems to change.

Football funding is diverted for hockey , that is the problem. So until hockey funding is diverted to football then maybe you won’t hear some of us complain about hockey, REA, and the EF.

and for the record I’ve attended more hockey games this year than football, but I’ve watched more FB games than hockey on TV so don’t try to call me anti hockey. I’m a UND fan first, no one gets my undivided attention!

We’ll see what happens now. No great external candidates coming in now at this point. Will be forced to hire internally, but no one here now can coach quarterbacks. Not getting my hopes up. 2024 has lame duck year written all over it. Gonna likely be awful. But at least Bubba will be gone more likely than not.

Only way to get good candidates at this point is to can Bubba now and hire some one like Luke S. or someone else as HC. Don’t want Danny as the future HC we better find a better backup plan now because if we wait all the good players hit the portal this spring

  4. Pawlak could be leaving too. Maybe Danny wanted to get Joe a raise and Bunba said no so Danny gave him an ultimatum that he would leave if Joe didn’t get promoted.

Pawlak I thought was most likely to get poached and is STILL LIKELY!!!!!! Even NDSU could pay him more to be a line coach than being the UND OC. Maybe Bubba told Danny that Pawlak jumped him for the next head coach?

Even if Pawlak becomes the OC I still see lots of top guys hitting the portal. Both QB’s…… gone. Top RB’s…… gone. Bo and Tai……. Gone. The offensive players didn’t commit because of Bubba…… The offense was the only bright spot for the future and now that’s ruined. Why would Danny want to come back after Bubba gets canned and the team cupboards are completely empty. Instead of just staying to keep your top guys.

Any word on McNaboe?  On Twitter he's posted offers from UIW, UNI, SFA, Mercer, Murray St, Robert Morris.

I think he is looking for a FBS opportunity. I don’t think he transferred just to go to another FCS school. One of the best players on the defense last year deserves a shot

This was a great non-conference series for us. It forced our guys to hustle, since Alaska hustled really well.

Went great because we didn’t lose. Backup goalie played good enough to win and gain confidence if we end up needing him again.

still big concerns with our defensive play that will be exploited by better teams down the stretch. Need to get that fixed so hopefully this team gets that figured out by April.

Alaska has had a ton of great chances in the second.  Some good goaltending and good fortune has kept them off the scoreboard.  But that kind of play will win a lot of games.

It will get you to the playoffs. Getting to the playoffs is a bare minimum every year. Title runs or bust every year. Relying on luck won’t get us there……

This team has started to defend the same ways we did last year. Blown coverage left and right.  Hedquist has gotten the Drew DeRidder treatment this weekend in that he hasn’t gotten the proper D zone assistance that we were providing in October and November

Starting to? Been doing it for the last how many games? They way they are playing defense will keep this Uber talented team out of the frozen four….

They said in the game article that he's doing a CBS game tonight or something.

Alex will not be calling games on Friday nights the rest of the season as long as there is a cbs sports game on ( most Fridays until the playoffs

  10. $500???? Big whoop

how about we start capping property taxes for 5 years and make these local governments spend our money wisely!

$500 would barely cover the increase in property taxes every year. This out of control increases needs to end!

Every goal the U-18's scored in regulation was off a d zone mishap.

Goal #3 and #4 can't happen if you're Hedquist.  He looks about half a foot off his angle on the OT game winner.  Maybe anticipating a pass across the zone, but Hutson had half the net to shoot at.

Lets hope we find a scoring touch against a team living in a hotel for an entire week.

Wait I was told by the hockey experts that we are a top defensive team in the country and that their defensive play was nothing to be concerned about……

It was an exhibition game with UND missing four of their top players. The loss didn't affect anything in the Pairwise Rankings. Based on what I read here, you'd think UND had lost in the first round of the NCHC playoffs.

No one said the season is over but we sure have the right to be concerned we are not trending in the right direction. Some of us would like to avoid an early round exit
