Matt Brown article says that the Utah schools are in play for the Summit League.  Not my first choices, but they have been doing well athletically.  Fenton has, for a while now, been mentioning that he has been excited about the future prospects for Summit Soccer.  Then Delaware was added.  So the Utah thing adds up, because Utah Valley is building a new $20 million dollar soccer stadium.  If the WAC is unstable, perhaps the Summit Would be able to grab Air Force soccer as well.  Air Force currently plays soccer in the WAC.   Travel would be bad for Utah Valley, but Utah Tech and Southern Utah wouldn't be the worst road trip as everyone can fly fairly cheaply in and out of Vegas.  I kind of hope the SL league finds an alternative to this that's more regional.

Wow the Summit is so desperate that they are going to take new start up western schools when conferences like the Big Sky want nothing to do with them. Heck maybe this will even get Northern Colorado to jump back to old NCC. Utah Valley starting D1 hockey could happen with the new hype the NHL is bringing to the metro. They could play at the practice rink in Provo or at the Maverick Center

Depends on the sport.  Also, Memphis isn't P5 to begin with, either.

Exactly we are going to be competing with the big schools and their huge collectives in hockey. It will be hard for the 1883 collective to just pay for hockey let alone all sports. Football and l basketball will always have the problem of not being able to compete with the P5 and will continue to see guys hit the portal no matter what crumbs the 1883 collective can give them. Unfortunate truth. Hockey may be the only immune sport in the entire state that we won’t have elite transfers out ( plus we have already been dealing with NHL departures for decades).

We have a huge alumni base, many of whom are fiercely loyal to their alma mater. We just need to make them aware of this thing and the importance of it. That means communicating with them better than we have communicated with Champions Club members, based on a few stories I have read on this forum.

We have never had as many alumni as the bigger schools in the NCAA. But we've always punched above our weight class in Division I hockey. I don't think NIL will be as big of a factor in FCS football and mid-major basketball, but even those sports will occasionally need NIL assistance.

I will say this: If we are not willing or able to raise the funds needed to really compete in FCS football and at a mid-major level in basketball, maybe we should move back down to Division 2. And no, I am not being hyperbolic either.

Is there maybe 10 FCS schools that are actually going to have enough donors to actually start NIL collectives? Maybe 20 total. UND wont have a problem with FCS football. Basketball and hockey will be hard enough

Where would this leave ASU, surely they wouldn't just join summit for hockey. Does this mean they are going to add UMD and St. Cloud too? I understand it’s all talk at this point. Just some initial thoughts.

Where else would ASU go? ASU wanted in to the NCHC more than any other landing spot. Where else would ASU rather go?

Leave St Cloud in the dust. Only accept the MN teams that want to be a true D1 athletic department

    I'll grant you that.  Yes.

UND's OL losses shouldn't break the offense like our OL losses did after the spring season.  This time around, there is tons of time to find OL transfers to come in and contribute.  I understand that you said it "might" break the offense, not that it "will" break the offense, however.  Coaching staff needs to hit on some OL and Defensive transfers this offseason, and I'm not super confident yet that they will.

Unlike many teams our O line recruiting has been very talented and deep. Yea I’m worried about replacing starters with guys who have never played but I think we have a full stable of guys that can step up! O line recruiting has been one of our biggest strengths!

my biggest concerns are still on the defensive side. I think our secondary can step up but are our d line and linebackers ready to step up? Is it scheme? Either way I hope we have it figured out

What kind of questions do you ask? I doubt he'd say that Berry would be in any trouble if Bubba was given an extension.  I am more concerned about the state of the football program. Think about this, our O-Cordinaro, a UND grad left for a conference foe.  We lost his replacement to NDSU. This program is a dumpster fire. We can’t win anywhere but at home. That concerns me more.

Yet UND Football still makes the playoffs just to go one and done. That’s all we expect from our top programs………

All the coaching concerns are tied to $$$$$$. Why stay at UND when you can get more money to leave? We should be more worried about the state of the defense. The defensive performance last year was horrendous and I haven’t seen any changes to how they are going to fix that.

It says they plan to announce within the year what they are doing with land. That was 2 years ago.   Did they ever announce anything?  The new fargo hospital was built along interstate....

future is expansion once GF grows big enough for 2 full size hospitals

I wasn’t that concerned about the OL going into next year. Now I am…

Offense wasn’t a concern but now I guess we can add them to a list

Cam Johnson said he saw everything that was written about him. There's that.

Should individual players be called out for their performance? No, but it’s going to happen if you actually have a fanbase that cares enough to go on a message board. Some of the criticism is out of line but some really isn’t. They could have proved me wrong down the stretch by playing better defense and back checking harder but I guess they rather just prove me right…….

And in two years, some of the fans here would be calling for that coach to be fired, too. You can bank on it.

We went through this every year Hak was coach, too. Before Hak left I went on Jared Thomas’s show and he asked how long before the program fires him, and moves on from Hakstol? I said, Hak will move on at time of his choosing. Which he did.

I said, “the university isn't going to fire him.“

Just for the record, players and their families read the message board.

Regardless on how the season ended, I'll follow them no matter what happens. I’d be more upset with the current state of the football and basketball programs than hockey.

Players and their parents shouldn’t read any fan board. Same goes for any sport football, basketball, etc. That’s player orientation 101.

What a waste of their time unless we really are the experts we all claim to be and maybe they should listen. Easy way to deal with criticism is to not read it!

And replace him with who? I hang up and listen.

Berry isn’t the best coach in the country, he is replaceable. We could get any of the top coaches in the country to come to UND and make a top salary with the top facilities in the country. Berry could leave tomorrow for the NHL and many of us would be elated.

Minnesota, Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, BC, BU. Every blue blood except Denver. Teams with an embarrassment of talent, riches and advantages. And all with a longer period of natty futility than UND, an apparent washed up has been.

Shut them down. They should be ashamed of themselves.

All teams who have had more success than UND in the past 8 years. Also all of those teams except maybe the bostons have fanbases that could care less about hockey. UND needs to get back to winning playoff games before we can ever expect to win a championship again……..

I was one who wanted Hak out.

I still believe that had he stayed on as coach there would not have been a Natty.

Call it bad luck, a hot goalie, but something ALWAYS got in the way of a Title.

I never called for Hak’s head once. He had us as a top team in the country every year. Can the same be said for Berry? No. We may not be buying Berry out but if he can’t make major changes we need to move on!

I don't live anywhere near GF, so I don't know the kinds of questions the local media asks Berry after a loss. Do Schlossman or Hennessy ask him tough questions & does Berry ever take responsibility when they lose a game? Or is it a big circle jerk?

One question I would very much want asked of Berry: "What are you going to do differently next year to get the team ready for the playoffs so you avoid another early exit?" Seems simple enough & Berry's answer would be very telling about where his mindset is at.

Schlossman won’t ever address the elephant in the room. He wouldn’t even go on Dom Izzo’s Hot Mic show for a season wrap up . Did the Powers not let Brad go back on because they don’t want Dom to ask the obvious glaring questions we all want addressed. Soft as the Fargo media is on Fargo football!
