  1. (sigh).  Once again North Dakota crowd, can you please remember to add the part where they actually picked a new nickname?  You forgot that MAJOR part of the equation.

They didn't say FU to the NCAA and stay Stanford or stay Marquette.  But I know, we are better than Stanford.  :silly:

well Stanford did pick a lame color and a tree for a logo and nickname. I would say this is as bad as not picking one at all. You don't hear anything but Stanford when you hear about.... Stanford.

why are you still on this forum spreading a bunch of fear? Are you president Kelley? You people are really digging deep to say that the NCAA will sanction UND further for the fans expressing their first amendment right.

  2. I would love to see the ncaa take on UND and tell them they must adopt a mascot. Until this happens I see no reason to disallow ND as a nickname. Let's say they do sanction us again we will at least know what the number 2 vote getter was and we can adopt that and bow down to the almighty NCAA

  3. Let me know when there is some actual measure that has any sort of creditability released.  The survey done by UND last year gathering people's input was the closest I've seen (and is nowhere near qualifying).  The results showed the clear majority was ready to move on to a new nickname.  In the latest poll, the majority of students either didn't feel strong enough one way or another to bother to vote or they just don't care.

Yeah, I'm sure they are the ones who would suffer.  Why not toss more money at this dumpster fire that was lost long ago and live under sanctions while continuing to look like a bunch of clowns?

when I was in college I would never check my email in the summer. If a student wasn't glued to the news or social media then they may have not seen the survey in time. This was actually a good turnout for the student body who normally do not show up in huge numbers for student government elections.

  4. The main driver in profitability for these kind of plants is the cost of natural gas which is still low. It is assumed that where you put this plant it will have cheap water available. Once you have to get water from a pipeline from Bismarck your competitors have the advantage. If there was a lake nearby that was blocked from use that could be the reason for the cancellation. CHS has invested a ton of money on granular fertilizer storage around the state so they had to get fertilizer from someone plus CF is the leader in production. I'm glad I didn't apply for a job at the plant! I don't think over supply would be an issue with all the surrounding states that would use this fertilizer

  5. So what would happen if UND adopted a new nickname and that fans refused to use it? Even with a new nickname you will see a ton of sioux jerseys in every crowd and saying sioux after the national anthem will not go away.

what is the ncaa going to do about that? Sanction UND because the fans won't adopt a new nickname? I'm tire of hearing all this nonsense out of the administration. I can't wait til Kelley leaves. He did have some questionable statements at the summer commencement.

  6. FYI---this past May at the walleye opener at Millacs I ran in to a former player who was kicked off the team after Bohl laid down the no tolerance speech. He and a couple of other players went out and got a little rowdy after having a few. The next day they were gone.

Its easy to cherry pick  scenarios if one wants.  But one must remember all punishments dont always end up in the news.

thanks for proving our point. If he would have been a starter it would have been all over the news and maybe not even kicked off he team.

  7. I guess you fail to understand how the tickets are priced. BTW how much are your season tickets? Seems yours are much cheaper. to help with the heating bills in GF? LOL

They are dirt cheap because there is no demand. Saves us some money to pay for overpriced beer. One day it won't be so easy to get a ticket

  8. If the bison could sell their tickets for $20 more per game why wouldn't they? It would be dam stupid to be selling underpriced tickets with such a high demand. Is it because the Fargo hicks can't afford a more expensive ticket? I guess the trailer has to stay heated some how......

  9. Excited that we are beefing up our defense with some serious talent! I wish we had Bubba years ago. If Muss could give those Cali FBS teams a run for their money I can only imagine what bubba will do in the future

  10. You missed the financial competition part of my argument completely. If the Spirit Lake tribe, for instance, were selling merchandise saying Fighting Sioux and using the Bennet Brien logo, a lot of people would buy that rather than buy merchandise that says North Dakota or Roughriders or whatever name is chosen, and would continue to call the teams Fighting Sioux. Those dollars would be going to Spirit Lake rather than UND. If that Fighting Sioux merchandise is not available, then at least some of those same people are going to buy merchandise that says North Dakota or the new nickname. Those dollars go to UND. Allowing the tribes to use the nickname and logo would divert sales of merchandise away from UND merchandise to Fighting Sioux merchandise, and therefore would divert income away from UND. UND would be foolish to give away something that is going to divert income out of its bank account into the tribes band account.

The logo itself does not include any words, it is an artistic rendition of a Native American. It was designed by a member of the Chippewa tribe. The Sioux tribes have no claim to it in any way. UND is the connection between the logo and the Fighting Sioux name. The tribes had nothing to do with that connection. Does the Cherokee tribe deserve rights to money or a logo from Jeep because Jeep has made the Cherokee 4wd vehicle for many years? No, they don't. Your logic is flawed. The tribes have no legal or moral rights to the UND Fighting Sioux logo. If they were given the logo they would be able to reap rewards from that. But UND doesn't owe them anything, and it would be a big mistake for UND to give them the logo.

Don't you think the new logo will catch on since it is such an inspiring representative of what UND stands for? You really think if people can still buy sioux apparel that fans will never adopt the new logo even with the new athletic branding and broadcast marketing changes? UND is already losing a lot of money by retiring the logo and I don't see it ever getting back to the level it was at with the sioux logo. The logo Brien created does have a lot of meaning to the sioux people. They are the ones who gave us the approval to use it by voting for it and by a traditional ceremony. Of course they have no legal right to it without UND's permission. UND probably would have hadboth tribes in favor of they would have shared the revenue from the logo/name. We would still be ahead financially after paying the tribes a portion compared to what we have lost in sales and th sales level that we will never reach again.

  11. At the rally they should discuss giving the logo to spirit lake to use. UND no longer uses it so it is a shame for it to be thrown in a locked closet. UND can pick a new nickname and we will all move on!

  12. There are 2 parts. First, keeping the nickname out there and active would increase the number of people that continue to use the Fighting Sioux nickname and cut into the number of people that start using a new nickname. The new nickname may have a hard time becoming accepted and successful because of the competition. It could fail completely. That would not help UND in any way, and it would be a mistake for UND to help encourage that by letting the logo go. Second, people would be buying Fighting Sioux merchandise that may instead be buying new UND merchandise. Not a lot of people would be buying both, it would be one or the other (or neither). That would be taking dollars directly out of the UND athletic department. That would just be stupid of UND.

Finally, there is always the chance that the NCAA could see it as encouraging the fans to continue using the old nickname (because it actually would be encouraging the fans to do that). The NCAA could decide to punish UND again. Giving the logo to one of the tribes would be setting up UND and a new nickname to fail. The tribes had absolutely nothing to do with creating the logo or building the logo, so they have no claims on the logo.

Your right about part 1 and what could happen with competing logos. I do think UND will be able to market the new logo with or without the logo and all it will take is time.

I disagree with your part 2. The ncaa has a legal agreement with UND that hey can let spirit lake use and sell merchandise with the logo. They cannot punish us if we follow the agreement. Just because they didn't create or build the logo does not mean they do not have the right to use it. It's their name that we are using and with UND's permission they have every legal right. Keeping the logo from them is as hostile and abusive as using the logo at UND.

  13. I think we will be fine considering we had arguably the best D in the Big Sky last year and all of the key contributors are back.

I was very proud of last years defense. With the offense going many 3 and outs they still held strong. In the first few games didn't they have like half of the points scored by UND? Sad stat for the teams but shows the defense was dominant.

  14. UND has the right to transfer or assign the logo to any Sioux tribe as a part of the Settlement Agreement. However, they would lose control of the logo. That would not be in the best interests of UND. Therefore, that option will not be used at any time soon.

I guess I'm thinking who cares if they take control of it? We can never use it again and we will be moving on so I don't see a reason to keep it when a tribe can use it. I don't see how they can abuse it since it represents their people. It can help generate extra funds for reservation programs. If UND is making me move on then maybe they should do the same?

  15. Right, because your previous post was such a good attempt at getting this back on track. I'm not looking to argue, but what would lead you to believe Carson Wentz could be a bust? You do know he already has a season under his belt, don't you?

I was just trying to put the troll in his place . I just think things may be different for wentz without his star backfield behind him. Is his receiver core going to stay on track? He does have his hogs back so that may help a lot. Your right he has only showed us one season.
  16. When UND fan starts calling the grandparents of a Bison fan, who they have never met, racist against blacks, you know you have won, and they certainly have nothing to add to the discussion on the game to be played against UND and NDSU in 2015.

This is just sad. You guys have nothing left in the tank.

Why don't you go cry about it on bisonville ? If you can't take the ridicule coming onto a rival website and calling people racist yourself then maybe you should rethink posting. Go where you belong troll .....

  17. The tribes never had the rights to the logo. It was commissioned by UND. It was created by a member of a different tribe. It is a piece of art owned by the University of North Dakota and they have absolutely no reason to turn it over to anyone else.

I thought I had read something that either the university or the tribes could use the logo. It's a shame they can't give it to the tribe.

  18. Both of my grandpas put their lives on the line overseas so that we didn't have to grow up in a world controlled by a brutal dictator. Nice try.

I bet they were also racist as puck against they blacks. I bet none of them would fight next to a black man. Just because they fought hitler doesn't absolve them of being racist.
