  1. Red on sweep first play
  2. Have a feeling we will be down by 10 or so at some point today, just need to stick with it!! Crowd needs to stay loud!
  3. Just went online to the GF Herald to read a gameday article for today, not a single story on the football game that I can see today. Am I just not seeing it...or do they not do a gameday write up anymore, especially when you are hosting the #1 team in the country. Used to be a full page in the printed paper back in day on Game Day with 2-3 articles. Oh well....LFG Hawks!!! Post some tailgating pics if you're there!
  4. Can't disagree with any of that. Kinda wish we would have saved that Quincy pitch play with Maag coming across for a game like this. Hopefully Danny has the perfect call in this game when we need it. Just finally listened to the 360 podcast and Shannon mentioned Maag throwing a TD to Wilson. What if on that same situation and similar formation as that pitch play, Quincy actually hands it to Maag, Red or Smith are in the backfield and they leak out to the left....Maag takes the handoff running right, turns back and throws it to Red or Smith back out in the left flat. It's always interesting watching Danny's offense...I'm sure there will be at least one new play or wrinkle tomorrow!
  5. Ocansey with his first Pick!
  6. Yes I believe that is correct. I was thinking when I said they were #2 that was too high, but I remembered they were for sure in the top 10. You mentioning Anderson brings it back to me even better now, they had a total power running game, and yeah I think you're right our DL was banged up. I remembered thinking.......man they are going to get 5-6 yards at a crack on us all day long, but that's not what happened.
  7. Can't remember the year off the top of my head, but 4-5 years ago Montana State came in ranked #2 or something. And they were averaging like 250-300 yards on the ground or something like that and we were kind of weak against the run that year. I thought they were going to run all over us, but the defense had the game of the year and we contained them on the ground and we won a low scoring game on the blocked punt we recovered in the end zone. This year it's our pass defense that is suspect, can they step up like our run defense did that game? That's what I'm hoping for!
  8. I would have been ok if he would have waited until after the game and tweeted that MVFC teams are 1-10 in the Alerus Center, as I'm hoping SDSU players are as confident as their fans that they are going to a cake walk on Saturday.
  9. Watched an SDSU podcast and one of their guys predicted 52-28 SDSU. Which their offense and our defense, I guess it's possible they score 52. But I sure don't see us getting beat by 24 in our own house. Fired me up seeing some of the comments other people were making during the game....like how SDSU will have 40 minutes TOP etc. etc.. It seems like half of them almost feel like they are going on the road to play Western Illinois this weekend or something. Our defense needs to step up and play the game of the year on Saturday. Need all three phases though, need a statement win for the program this weekend. I get that all teams fans have rose colored glasses on when looking or thinking about their team though, it's just the way it is. Haven't watched the 360 podcast yet but sounds like Kelly is predicting a win. SDSU fans listening to that are also probably laughing and thinking their analysis is crazy. One of the two SDSU podcast guys though did say he thought UND would cover the point spread, so he was giving us a little credit.
  10. Doesn't the team pick what they want? I don't think any of the fans liked the grey pants with green tops but they wore them more than most fans would have liked.
  11. I was thinking about this the other day also. It just seems like SDSU is going to score on their first drive no matter what. If they get the ball and score first, and if we answer with a score of our own...does that deflate them more than us scoring on first drive and them answering right back. I think this is the one game I could see us taking the ball if we win the coin toss. It's a tough call....but all I know is our offense better come out firing right away or we could get left in the dust. I'm going to be a nervous wreck pretty much the entire game while we are on defense.
  12. I don't think it's that big of an issue either, but it continues to be brought up over and over. I think if it was an issue, Bubba would have taken care of it.
  13. Sometime Tom Miller should ask Bubba about this. If I was the head coach and it was an issue, I'd definitely be talking to someone about it and put a stop to it. So makes me wonder if it really is an issue for our team and players, or is it in our heads.

    Polls

Yep, was also thinking something similar. If we really did lose by 1, in reality should move up a spot or two if the #1 team is only 1 point better than you, you know for sure UNI or Missouri St. would move up with a 1 point loss to SDSU. I could see a scenario where we lose a close one to SDSU, drop out of polls. Win our next three, get back in to poll at #22, then lose a close one to NDSU in Fargo and drop out of the final poll for the year with an 8-3 FCS record in the best conference and play two of the top teams in the country. Of course if we just beat SDSU we won't have to worry about that.
  15. Ocansey breakout game!
  16. Totally agree on the conflicted part for this game. With SDSU's potential on offense.....and our defense, can see them hanging 40 plus on us. On the other side, we play so much better at home. Could be a 45-42 type of game. Our offense needs to play like we need to score every time we have the ball, sense of urgency on every possession.

If we beat SDSU, maybe we sneak into the coaches poll at 25
  18. That has been our MO lately, and I think it will be again. Try and start out similar to last week at YSU, all kinds of mixes of passes to open up the running game. I hope Danny has a few other great play calls ready for this game, going to need a few gems this coming Saturday to keep up with SDSU's offense. Agree with the other poster who said we need a turnover or two. Every time their QB takes a 7 step drop.....I'll be holding my breath, ok probably not a 7 step drop since already in shotgun.
  19. I'll put the over/under on five minutes after NDSU win this for them to comment on this
  20. Fire Stig
  21. I'd sure think most all of them are watching it, but ya....curious if they are all watching as a group.
  22. I never knew the story of how the Griddy started after wins.....but here it is if you haven't seen it, kinda cool. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/college/everything-you-need-to-know-about-und-coach-bubba-schweigerts-griddy-victory-dance
  23. I've been waiting for Q to be in......in Shotgun formation....take the snap.....take a step or two forward to fake the run, then pull up and hit a TE going down the seam.
  24. I am surprised, however Hoosman has better than expected and has earned more carries than probably anybody expected. Plus add Red into the mix a little too. It's been a good problem to have. Hopefully we can get a game or two that doesn't come down to the wire and Ziebarth can get a few touches.
  25. Random thoughts Transfer portal - our defense definitely isn't as good as it would have been with the guys we lost. However all of the OL transfers, Hoos and Red have made our offense much better than it would have been without the portal so it's probably a wash. I think we just have to get used to needing to score 30 plus points in most games to win this year. I'll never feel comfortable unless we are up 16 or more (two TD's and two 2 point conversions to tie). Tommy - definitely took a step forward this year and his running at the right time has been huge. Now if he can only start connecting on some of the deep balls. I said it a year or two ago, that he tends to over throw those.....which I think is because he is worried about getting pick. Depending on situation and where we are at on the field....need to let our guy make a play. Dennis - He has played a few games, they planning on burning his redshirt? If so I'd think his use would maybe increase and/or try to send him deep sometime? Secondary - Ocansey seems like he will be decent and continue to improve, along with the other younger corners when they get put in there. That said I think overall as a group we are going to continue to be butter at times. Just need to make some big plays now and then to offset it. TE's - if our offense sucked I'd probably be on the we need more TE recieptions, but the offense is clicking and Danny is calling play to take advantage of what they are giving us. I have a feeling Zalvaney will still make some key plays before it's all said and done. I think we will likely go 3-2 the rest of the say. We could pull out a win against SDSU. If we do beat SDSU, I would still be afraid we'd slip up against somebody that we should beat and still possibly end at 7-4, which would at least still be in the playoffs. Our bye is at a perfect time. After getting a few games in, hopefully with a week off and getting coached up things will start to click even more for the OL and young corners. Sure would be nice to go 8-3 though and get a home game!
