  1. Some times the good ole days....aren't as good as we think they were. I watched the UC Davis game a year or two ago, I think we ran Jed 7 straight times up the middle to start the game or something like that. We only scored 14 points that game too....at home in the dome in perfect conditions. Not saying we weren't a good team, we won it all so we were obviously very good. But even then our offense wasn't lighting things up when we were up against a really good defense. The game in general now is much more wide open though. Our offense now is probably about as exciting to watch as it's ever been. Should be fun watching this year with an experienced OL.
  2. I think almost under any scenario a 7-4 record will be somewhat of a disappointing regular season, IMO. I could see us beating NDSU but then tripping up against USD. Would be huge to get the NDSU monkey off our back, but that would still feel pretty unexciting, losing to USD towards end of season and killing momentum and building confidence in our program, both internally to our fan base and to the rest of the FCS. If we made a deep playoff run after that, that would change things. But it would have to be making it into the semi-finals and/or beating one for the top 5-6 seeds or something. We need to take the next step this year!
  3. If we upset SDSU that will single handedly ruin the perception of the MVFC, they will think the conference has gotten week. I hope we do pull the upset but I can just hear all of the Big Sky teams chirping if that happens. I think one of the biggest games this year will be the Montana State and SDSU game. I hope SDSU destroys MSU again so if we do pull off the upset, or even if we don't, it will show the quality of the MVFC.
  4. And if we finish 2nd.....it will really be down!
  5. My prediction this year is we go 8-3. Losses to Boise St, SDSU, and UNI. This has got to be the year we beat NDSU. The game at USD will be a grind it out game like it always is down there, but gotta win that one.
  6. From Miller's article the other day. Would be nice if Klein can stay healthy and become a red zone weapon on those lob passes. Sounds like it's been pretty successful so far in camp. Redshirt freshman corner Antonio Bluiett broke up a Tommy Schuster lob pass to 6-foot-6 Elijah Klein — one of the rare times the Schuster lob to Klein has been unsuccessful at camp. I think the transfer at NG who goes 315 is really going to help on short yardage situations. He brings 25 more lbs of beef than the other NG's. Even on non short yardage plays if he can bull rush and take up two OL guys at times....that will be huge. The other DL transfer being bigger also will help.
  7. If I recall he came in when we were on like the 3 yard line on 3rd down and he floated a complete duck......and Wanzek made a great catch to save the TD.
  8. You are the only one wondering. But let's remember you were kinda thinking that Kaminski as a true freshman might start over the Walter Payton watchlist finalist. Your posts are usually spot on.
  9. Any interest in selling 2 of the Bison tickets
  10. Hoping Navratil becomes a consistent playmaker for us at OLB this year.
  11. Bulletin board material right there, not even a mention of UND.
  12. 1,000 percent without a doubt he will still get most of those short yardage calls Danny isn't dumb.
  13. What I wouldn't give to go back in time to the Down Under on a Friday and see all of the usual faces and $1.50 pitchers.
  14. I had mentioned Red and Elioder in my original post.....that's why he said Dennis. Hopefully all three of those guys provide some explosive plays on offense, not to mention what Bo gives us. Think he took that inside screen against NDSU 60 yards or so. Nice to get some big chunk plays instead of having to have 12 play a scoring drives all the time. The 12 play scoring drives are also great though too as gives our defense a rest and makes the other offense restless on the sidelines.
  15. Yeah he is. Looking forward to seeing what Elioder can do too. Hoping to see more big plays out of the standard offense (non Trick plays) Still hoping to see some big plays from trick plays too, but hoping Red and Elioder can bring some needed speed and big play capability at the WR position.
  16. Absolutely we aren't going anywhere without improvement on defense. And to be honest back in February when Holinka resigned, which was an odd time and I knew we'd just be getting an internal higher and at the time didn't see any transfers coming in......I was pretty pessimistic about our defense being much better this fall. However as the months went along, we got two DL transfers that I think will help up front. Also last year CJ was the only CB with experience, now we have experience at CB. Fort was hurt last year, Buckner didn't play as he was still picking up the defense etc. With those guys being able to play more, and perhaps simplifying defense helping I'd think we'd have a little improvement there too. I think McNeal will step up at LB. OLB we will see, still a concern. Based on those things, I do think we should almost for sure be a little better than last year. How much of a jump in improvement remains to be seen. Since it's August though, I have my slightly tinted Kelly Green glasses on hoping there is significant improvement. I don't think we are going to be a top defense, which is the end goal, but hopefully enough improvement to win some more games with our high powered offense.
  17. Boltmann 2.0?
  18. Very tough game no doubt. But any given Saturday.......make it happen!
  19. 111 is greyed out which it said means unavailable. But that might because it is the Visitors section and have to be bought through UND or something?
  20. Looks like Boise St. single game tickets went on sale yesterday. Those that are going....where are you sitting?
  21. I agree that Tommy needs to improve on accuracy with the long ball. I still think part of the problem is if our guy only has a step on him he tends to overshoot the WR to avoid a potential pick. Need to let the WR make a play on some of those deep balls or get a pass interference.
  22. Will Caden Dennis have a break out year, he was supposed to have really good speed. Now that he has been in the program for a while will we see some big plays from him? Or will it be Eliodor making a splash with big plays for us this year on offense? Hopefully more big plays from Red this year as well. Sure would be nice to see a couple deep ball connections with our WR's with a couple feet of separation.
  23. Love that they are doing that!
  24. I was going to post this in the Non-UND thread but I see it got mentioned in this one so I'll post it for those who haven't seen it.
  25. I'm looking forward to Kaminski and think he has potential to be really really good. But you have about as much of a chance of getting struck by lightning this summer.....as Kaminski as a true freshman beating out Tommy. If that should happen...we are in amazing hands at QB the next four years.
