  1. The Canadian Maple donut at Timmy's is solid! Very tasty.

And as I'm about to head back out in the -18 temp I ask the young lady if she can warm up (refill) my coffee before I go. She looks at me as if I am speaking in Swahili and and asking if I can touch her chest.

Normally that's the look I get when I ask my wife for......

LOL. Does not surprise me she did not understand what warming up the coffee meant.
  2. I honestly don't think its hak's system as many colleges and NHL teams play it. We simply are lacking offensive forwards other than Rocco. We don't have a first line and many of our forwards could barely cut it a few years back.

Why do you keep giving Rocco so much credit? He really is not that good.
  3. Foreigner and Styx will be at Moon Dance Jam?

Looking back at all the bands that have played Moon Dance the only ones I would want to see I already have seen them. The difference is I saw them in their prime. Would I go and see the Eagles today? No. Saw them in 78 and 80 on the Hotel California and Long Run Tours. Would I go see Dave Matthews again, saw him do 2 shows in September in California, without a doubt. Would I go see Springsteen again after 3 times already? In a second I would. He actually keeps getting better all the time. How can you not want to see someone that is enjoying himself performing like this..
He does this at every show. Plays requests even.
  4. 8-13-4 (Big 10)

    14-25-3 (CCHA)

    19-16-4 (CCHA)

    15-19-4 (CCHA)

    19-13-6 (CCHA)

    10-23-5 (CCHA)

Yea, the Spartans really lit up the CCHA in the five seasons leading up to this year's Big 10 move...

Multiple national titles? Yea, Michigan Tech and Lake Superior State have a bundle of them themselves...how are their programs doing lately?

    To be fair...How is ours?
  5. But Mariucci and other Gopher fans would prefer to see Big 10 hockey expansion. Can you imagine the intensity of a Minnesota/Rutgers college hockey game on a Tuesday night in New Brunswick? Or an Ohio State/Indiana hockey battle royale in Columbus on a Thursday? Maryland/Michigan State? There is NO WAY 70-some years of North Dakota/Minnesota could replicate potential future Big 10 rivalries like that!

In Heaven forgot that great match up of Ohio State and Indiana. MafiaMan you do make me laugh a lot with your comments. Heck I even laugh when you blast me. Have to laugh because it is witty and deserves a good chuckle.
  6. No one can make a logical argument that the WCHA improved by adding those 4 schools.

I want it the way it is now. We're a Big Ten university and we're now in the Big Ten. We should still play the in state schools every year but they should be non-conference games.

What do you call Ohio State and Penn? Premier college hockey programs? Was it not last year Penn was beaten by ASU's club team?
  7. Are folks assuming the parent did anything more than alert the administration? I am not tying this to any demand by parents that action be taken to the coach. I see it as the administration on their own decided this was the best course of action. Now, the parents may have demanded action but who knows? As many have said, there may be more to this story?? I doubt the size of the parent's checkbook factored into this.

Then you do not live on the same planet as the rest of us do. Does Ralph Englestad ring a bell?
  8. The issue I'm hearing is "threatening" content of text perceived by the parents.

    Sad.........

I wonder how much time the kid of these parents will spend on the bench this season. The only "threat" was if you did not work you do not play. So instead of telling their wonderful son to work they got the coach fired instead. Does this mean if he does not get the grade the parents think he should they are going to get the teacher fired next?
  9. I coach 10 and 11 year old baseball kids in fall league (August-October). Each year, I deal with kids who are playing football and baseball for all three months and when October rolls around, most are playing football four days a week, have baseball practice once a week plus games on Sunday afternoons, and then basketball clinics on Sunday nights after baseball.

    It's insanity.

You should ask the kids if they are having fun.
  10. Don't expect logic from him. Yeah, it was real competitive back then when UND beat up on Michigan Tech 12-2, and Bob Joyce and Tony Hrkac are putting up 15 or so points in a weekend against them. When you have a league as competitive as the WCHA had been the last 5 years or so, when you can go from 7th to 2nd in a weekend, that is hardly watered down. The Big Ten league is so exciting that he has to spend all his time here to tame his excitement level.

I wonder how many alum, fans, or students of the Big10 schools could tell you they even have a hockey conference? 5, 10 percent on a good day.
  11. I have kindergarten and Tykes (Preschool) T Ball parents upset because their child does not have college coaches watching their child or a college scholarship promise by first grade! As a recreation professional it is sad to see our society coming to this.

You must have some great stories about parents that you could share here.
