How much more are people taking out than paid into it? Does this apply to your parents also?Read the SS MC actuary reports. No one is saying that they didn't pay into it but when you take out many times more than you put in someone has to make up the difference, right?

There is not a guarantee that you will get a spot.To clarify, if you spend the $300, you are guaranteed to get a ramp spot. The problem is that they don't sell all of the ramp passes so there are wasted parking spaces that are left empty.
They also leave empty spots for paying buy the hour, which they don't let S pass people use, even if those spots are empty.

How many paid in all their working lives and died before collecting or right after they started collecting? As for Medicare that is a different story. There they will receive far more than they paid in. By the way who paid for the car you drive? Who is paying the insurance? Who is paying your rent? Who paid property taxes for your K-12 education? Who is paying for your health insurance? Who is paying for the roads you drive on? How much did you pay in income taxes last year? Property taxes? For one thing the actually cost vs. the purchasing power of the dollar needs to be included. Paying for their Social Security? They did.What was the cost of education when they went to school? How much debt are students stuck with? Pretty sure the average is around 40 grand.... that isn't free money. Also, who do you think is paying for their social security? Young people are, and they aren't going to get squat when they retire. WWII vets are only a fraction of retirees... please.

There is plenty of parking on campus. It just is not at the front door.Not sure, but the way they currently operate the thing is a complete waste, considering the lack of parking on campus.

Maybe get up earlier?What a joke! I have an S lot pass and drove in to the parking ramp today and was told to take a ticket because S pass spots were full. There were two levels completely empty... complete BS.

So you are saying that local employers pay more? North Dakota should make it as difficult to get a refund on taxes as the Canadians do Americans. You really have no concept of economics do you?I can't answer all of your questions but I do know that most of the money Canadians bring into the gf area goes to national companies that normally pay their employees very little. Canadians also don't have to pay state sales tax. So I'm not sold on the fact that more Canadian traffic will boost grand forks' or nds economy.

Why should they have to share their profits with the city? Do you require this from any other business that wants to open? Could you also explain the difference between a national and a local run business and how they contribute tho the city/state?I enjoy an Indian casino probably more than most but I don't see this as a good idea for grand forks. It would further promote gambling in the community which I already believe has enough of a problem with this. So it would employ up to 600? At what pay scales/benefits? Just a guess that they'd be lower tier overall. And another guess without knowing where the profits would go, but I'd guess the city couldn't take too much (other than the sale of the land unless it's sold by a private party?). Canadians would probably consist of 50% of the business though and currently most of their money goes to the big businesses in gf(very little goes to actual local business owners/city/state). So if the casino's profits were somehow shared with our community maybe it could be a good thing! I guess I don't know without more details.
