  1. Best part about this game is they finally looked like they did a couple months ago, like they can play with anyone. Even when they swept Alaska, they didn't look that great. Tonight wasn't perfect, but it seemed like everyone was fully engaged. They won more battles in the first period than they did in 6+ periods against CC. Also, SC is among the teams that were just clearly better than UND last year, and it sucked to watch those games. So it was nice to not get run over again.
  2. It was a really good period, hardly gave SC anything, but I agree, they'd be in control then make a head-scratching pass to get in trouble.
  3. This could get interesting. Miami needs to try again. I wouldn't make a change in Omaha or CC. The others should be careful about changing. There are plenty of examples of perennial winners becoming former powers. For UND specifically, I have liked what has turned into a pattern, accidentally I think, of turning it over after about a decade. The program has gone from one great coach to another in the middle of each of the last three decades, and by most metrics (but not all, especially not one), the program has remained among the best. Continuing the pattern would have us see the job turn over in the next few years.
  4. Arm up. I was optimistic on here once the portal sorted out. Loved the forwards and G and thought the D had a chance to be good. Had heard good things especially about Pyke and Zmolek.
  5. I like Montgomery and Ness, but it's tough to figure out who to take out. Maybe Kunz, as you get faster that way, but he seems close to putting it all together.
  6. Blake has issues, but he can create something out of nothing like few others. I don't know if there's been a change in the way other teams are playing him or what it is, but there's been less of the good lately and more struggles. I personally am not a fan of singling him out for blame when you can pretty much go down the roster and point out mistakes. Nice game for HH, but they protected him much better tonight. He made all the easy saves, and wasn't asked to be spectacular.
  7. Maybe Pyke and Livanavage plus a forward for a 3-on-3 shift. You know, the whole skating backward thing.
  8. However ot goes, this is disappointing. Omaha is the kind of team you need to sweep at home.
  9. 4 on 13 is terrible, but the first PP goal is probably the only bad one. Not much he could do on the last two, and the first I don't think he saw.
  10. The funny thing is that to me Emerson filled the spot that opened when Spicer bailed. So I guess the Spicer spot is back open again.
  11. I think Michigan had 1,2,4 and 5 in 2021. Power, Beniers, Hughes, Johnson.
  12. Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant Alaska will win games playing that well.
  13. Alaska has had a ton of great chances in the second. Some good goaltending and good fortune has kept them off the scoreboard. But that kind of play will win a lot of games.
  14. I don't know, but to me it was not a violent play. I feel ok about it personally.
  15. Props for getting nascent into your post.
  16. Unless he was just faithfully recounting his conversation with the coach.
  17. It would be better to prioritize his development and success in future years than to try to save what looks like a lost cause this year.
  18. I mean, it's a little harsh. We want him to be selfish and thinking mostly about offense. Goals determine who wins and he creates them sometimes out of thin air. Just cough it up less.
  19. Like the poster above, I think he's further from ready than I had thought. The deal with him is that he is top six or bust. He does not have a bottom six game. So he's got to be truly exceptional to get a spot. His elusiveness is at that level, elite at this level and maybe even in the NHL. But he simply won't play there, whether he wants to or not, when he's so loose with the puck. Carolina, especially, has forwards who are hard on the puck. They would have a problem with one of these turnovers per game, let alone five or more. He's amazingly explosive here, but will have to be more careful down the stretch this year.
  20. Persson was not remotely the problem this weekend.
  21. Can't think I've seen a faceoff game like this before. Just unreal.
  22. The thing that sets this team apart is its top-end forward talent. The rest of the team is solid, but so is pretty much every team. So when that edge you have over most teams is going, you're usually going to win. When they're struggling, you get this weekend.
  23. By Tyler Dunbar, former UND commit.
  24. Disagree. 3-on-3 is a perfect situation for him. His skills are magnified with all the open space. Plenty of people would call it insanity to not have him out there.
