  1. I will now concede that a comeback is less likely.
  2. Over? Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Keep the faith baby. Hockey is bizarre and you never know what can happen.
  3. The NCAA tourney field looks very tough this year. If a team is fortunate enough to make a regional final, they will probably have to beat a very good team. We've seen UND pass the eye test against some of those top teams, but we've also seen them lose some of those games. Basically the corner-pickers are going to have to be on target, and the goalie will need to be at his best.
  4. Well, he played 77 of 82 games his rookie year and 47 of 48 this year, so I'm going with "most of the time." Are we supposed to hold it against him that his hand got stepped on in the crease?
  5. I agree on Johannes. I realize there are different opinions on this, but I like him with Berg and Gaber, as he creates space. I also think the bottom lines haven't been as good as they were earlier, with the shuffling of 18 and 29 up the lineup. They're good and will probably be mainstays higher up next year, but for now they make the lower lines more dangerous and there's no one I want to pull out of the top six.
  6. Pinto also led Ottawa forwards in ice time. Sanderson out hurt.

    Checking Boxes

CC and Western would seem to have the most control over their chances, simply because they could sweep UND and pick up two of those games in one weekend.
  8. Who had Kunz beats out an icing on their bingo card?

    Checking Boxes

Talking about winning the league and going far in the national tournament this early feels jinxy to me, but ... I do appreciate the nice little spreadsheet.
  10. I had noticed Kunz did not celebrate his goal either, which I liked, and was going to note at the time, but then Miami scored and the moment passed.
  11. Agree they carried it good to start the third, but the ten minutes after the delay were the worst of the night. Could barely get it in the zone.
  12. The worst and best of Blake ot. Got walked then sniped one. Also, his ot shot looked less in than the second period no goal.
  13. The glass thing definitely stalled the momentum.
  14. I'm glad we got #3 with 11 minutes left. There's time to just keep playing.
  15. So maybe Blake's not making the best choice every time, but he's been on a mission in the third. All over the place.
  16. Clock is running double time.
  17. Plus had a few great chances to make it 3-1.
  18. Yeah they've scored on pretty much every decent chance they've had.
  19. The 23-13 is more how it felt.
  20. That's especially nice since the PP that bridges the period break usually fails. (Not scientifically demonstrated.)
  21. There's the aggressive PK we've been wondering about. Worked pretty well.
  22. I have to give credit to Kunz, not because he scored and not because he's a billboard in front of the goalie. He seems to have caught up to the game. I don't know whether he's using his frame and reach better or what it is exactly, but he's coming away with the puck more often. He obviously doesn't have the quickest first step on the team, but he seems faster as well. A memory of Goren flashed through my head at one point Friday.
  23. Pretty amazing that Denver has 10 freshmen and is the second youngest team in the country. Man was I ever looking forward to them slipping when Monty left, but looks like I'm going to have to wait for Carle to go to the bigs for my next shot. I imagine his WJC gold got some attention up there.
  24. Noah Laba is having himself a season. He scored an OT goal to beat UND last month, and he had the OT goal in both games this weekend, at Western.
  25. I think he'll have a long career in the bottom six, which is not an insult. He's built for a role there with his explosive speed, and potentially being able to eat up PK minutes makes him even more valuable.
