  1. I generally agree with SJHovey. Some of the recent recruiting battles are ominous indicators. The question is how to thrive in the new world. I think the answer is partly to focus on what UND has always been good at, Canadian kids who care more about hockey than they do the bigger sports world that dominates the U.S. Also the team will just have to be older, and pick up late bloomers. It'll be interesting to see how the tourney goes next week, to see if the future is now.
  2. You may be right, I have no idea how they think. On the other hand, not only do they have Sanderson coming in, but they have two first rounders seasoning in the AHL (JBD is one.) Getting crowded maybe.
  3. Regarding Spicer, these days, unless a guy is big time, I'd like him to be killing it in juniors in his D+1 year. However, if it turns out to be correct that he's coming in, it could be because the coaches realize they need some slick hands on the PP. That I'd be ok with.
  4. To each their own.
  5. I get that. Perhaps lost in my post was the idea that they are the odds on favorite for next year. Loaded roster and an ultra high end recruiting class.
  6. If MN wins this year, it may be the first of a back to back. Still ok with it?
  7. What is that a list of?
  8. Hot take, but I think Pinto and Sanderson are going to help them make the playoffs next year.
  9. Yes.
  10. Just keep the local talent around and make most of them play a couple years of juniors.
  11. Isn't Liv 17 yo? Is he even a senior in HS? The way the NCAA is now you have to be exceptional to play that young. Seems much better to let him play big minutes in juniors, develop, and get stronger.
  12. Yeah, but he did stay in junior for the extra year. So he wasn't ready.
  13. Don't we just not really know the whole story on Morrow and Rizzo? I've seen internet speculation (some by me no doubt), but hard to judge without knowing what actually happened.
  14. Dylan James just showed up as a second rounder on a draft list, so if he is here next year he probably finds his way into the lineup.
  15. Yeah, tilted the ice pretty good in the last ten minutes. Had the Ford chance, and Gaber finally got going, including the post. The Ford chance reminded me of the one Keane had sometime in the OTs last year. Just the kind of pass where you know you have the goalie cooked and a goal is coming. Oddly enough they both wore #21.
  16. Also, the OT penalty was not a stupid penalty and not a dive. Jandric whiffed on the puck and the guy was going to go in all alone. He took a penalty he needed to take.
  17. This looked to be a challenging year when we thought Weatherby was our #1 center and Sanderson #1 D. What they did this year, given the circumstances, was pretty amazing. But they seemed to lose "something" when they won the league in Omaha, and really just never found it again. They didn't play poorly today, they were up against a team like Bemidji on steroids, built to make you look bad. By comparison, for instance, WMU really worked UND over. Now that was playing poorly. This was an ultra-tight checking playoff game where a game-breaker like Sanderson could have made a difference, in his 30 minutes of ice time. Again, this team did a lot with what they had.
  18. 1. UND carried play the last 10 mins. 2. Notre Dame beat the loaded MI team 4 times. They know how to play defense. 3. Ford and Gaber (post) have to convert.
  19. I thought SC did that to tech.
  20. Given that WMU is the heaviest team in college hockey, it was a particularly bad game to be without UND's two biggest defensemen.
  21. If I had identical twins, I'd name them correlation and causation, so I could say they are equal. For hockey, I leave the fourth line together. They're not heavy, but they are pests, always causing havoc. Good momentum changers.
  22. Or UMD for me.
  23. They played earlier in the year.
  24. Q with the slight edge in shots 42-12, including 18-1 in the third.
  25. UND fans lead the nation in up/down ratio over the last 40 years. And 30 years. Over 20 you could argue they're in the top 3. Over 10 in the top 3. We've been blessed.
