I read some where (USCHO I think) that those D2 schools that play hockey in one of the D3 conferences in the East are stuck can't play up and can't play in a post season because of the NCAA rules.

Lyon and Phillips have better numbers then Zane does. Zane wouldn't make my Hobey Baker top 10. Let's be honest for a goalie to win the Hobey Baker has to put up Ryan Miller numbers.

From what I understand is that for a school to play NCAA D1 hockey now, they have to be a NCAA D1 school. There are NCAA D2 schools that are playing right now in NCAA D3 hockey pretty much as club teams. They can't play D1 and can't play in the D3 hockey post season. The NCHC can benefit from the "big name" schools even if it might be a stepping stone to their main conference adding hockey. Schools like Arizona State might put money to hockey like Minnesota, Michigan, and Penn State.

After reading that two things come to mind. 1). This is what happens when you rush to create a conference with only 6 teams. 2). Minnesota (the favorite to win the national title) and Michigan should be feasting on the other 4 teams in the B1G.
