I can't open that link. Anything of substance in there?

I think it can be done quickly. It didn't take Hardee long, and some of that was done during the Great West years. The upper Midwest is kind of the epicenter of indoor women's volleyball, so we are already close to the heart of the recruiting trail. Much easier than basketball, where our remoteness from urban centers stymies recruiting. As far as winning conference or making the NCAA tourney, those take a special team. Even Hardee couldn't get over that hump. But that doesn't mean those teams weren't good or fun to watch.

Agreed, but they are a good way to round out a team.

I like how Schlossman tells it like it is on how bad the state of the program is compared their heyday: "something that would have been unthinkable a decade ago when former coach Ashley Hardee turned the program into a mid-major power that packed The Betty" "UND has lost more home games in the last two seasons (0-20) than it did in the entire decade from 2008-17, when it went 102-19." "The program has fallen on hard times since 2017, when it went 30-8 and reached the NCAA tournament. UND went 14-18 the following year, Mark Pryor's last at the helm, and has gone 12-18, 2-16 and 1-29 under Tiffin."

My main question is who's going to beat the Bison? Will someone be able to do it in the dome, or will they get yet another appearance in Frisco?

If any Fergus Falls or Alexandria people are on the board, are home hockey broadcasts available on local cable tv? Traveling tonight and trying to plan an overnight stay in a city where I can watch the game in the hotel or bar.
-
Yep. Regardless of potential playoff implications, what happens tomorrow is a harbinger of UND football for the next couple seasons.

This is basically Mark Pryor. He could coach, win, and recruit (at least until he stopped caring). BUUUT, he didn't buy into the community, and as a result, his care for the program waned. And then when he left, his lack of care manifested in a couple years' time to a team that's 1-28. He didn't even use UND as stepping stone (he went to a Division III school); that's how little he cared about being in Grand Forks.

We definitely don't want to be the Dakota team that can't beat any other Dakota team.

That would look pretty sweet in a National Championship team photo

I've always like a hockey jersey with a diagonal name (whether it be school name or team name). For instance, the classic Wisconsin jersey.

I agree. Though, we can essentially have "Nodak" or "Nodaks" as an alternate name, kind of like the "Zags" for Gonzaga. Maybe it will catch on enough that it becomes our official unofficial name.

I knew he had the first brother, but did not know about the second.

Did we really never beat Montana in men's basketball while we were in the Big Sky?!

It happened against Illinois St. for sure - that could be the one you're thinking of. I think because Tommy is on the smaller side, he's probably been told by HS coaches (or naturally does it out of self defense) to not expose himself by running. I think our coaches are working on getting this as part of his game, and I think this will be become an element of his game. I don't think he'll scare defensive coordinators with his running/scrambling, but he'll better learn that there are situations where it is a good option. I've thought a couple times when it was 3rd & short at the goal line, they should have Tommy do a designed run because the defense would never suspect it!

Awesome perseverance to come all the way back for the win! Fun fun game.

Whether he "said something" or not, he needs to go. Huge disappointment.

I watched the VB game on TV Saturday night. There was a guy acting as the head coach, but I'm not sure if it was Steve Rindfleisch.

Yes, the Maag fumble really bothered me. Same deal as an earlier game when he was unnecessarily fighting for yards inside the 10 yard line. I feel like the Belquist(?) one was offset by the miraculous catch by Boltman that actually did set up a touchdown.
-
Though I know this season has been far from where we had all hoped, the fact that we are having this conversation is good.
-
I see that it has since been removed. Someone must have finally caught it.

How awesome would it be if it actually WERE sunny in the Alerus?! A glass roof would really "brighten" the game day experience.

Official UND sports website shows this weekend's games as being on Midco. I was thinking that's a typo, so I went to the Midco programming guide the other night and it had "To Be Announced," so maybe?? Anyone with insight? https://fightinghawks.com/sports/mens-ice-hockey/schedule
