It's all part of the same thing.

hasn't taken a step forward from last year to this year
I think this is something even the fiercest Tommy backers can agree to. Not like the step up between 2 years and last year.

One thing I will say is I'm not sure I've ever been less confident in my "what kind of team is this" feeling thru 5 games. That should be enough of a body of work to have a good sense. I really don't have a good one.
Yeah, I'm with you there. The choices are steam roll the opponent, or get steam rolled by the opponent.

What would the definition of a bad loss be?
I'm of the opinion that, at this point, any kind of loss this week is bad. If it's blowout, obviously that's bad. If it's close, then we play the woulda/coulda/shoulda game, which is also bad.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing that this particular play was a miss. I'd say that's a throw Tommy normally makes.

I can assure you the "game manager" isn't working against top teams
Wasn't Brock Jensen a "game manager"? I don't watch Bison FB, so I may be off on this one.

For the people who say Tommy doesn't have a big enough arm, how far would you like him (or another QB) to throw?
This is just for my information. I am not necessarily out to defend him or criticize him.

This particular play doesn't really fit my example, but I know you want to point it out to make your own different point, which has been belabored.

The WR crew has gotten better, but I am still not seeing a ton of explosiveness from them in general. I don't care how far your QB can toss the pigskin if his receivers aren't out there to catch it.
Yeah, I've been thinking about the "dink and dunk" comments regarding the passing game, and it seems like most are putting that blame on Tommy's arm. That's not fair because he's able to throw 20-30+ yard pass plays, but a lot of things need to come together for a long pass play to happen, not just what the QB is doing or his arm strength. Need to get good line protection to allow time for receivers to get separation, provided they can.

Didn't Bo's dad go to NDSU or something and NDSU never offered him?
Bo’s dad did play at NDSU. Not sure about the offer situation, though.

And I think Mooney was from MN not ND. But yes.....someone needs to make a Mooney type play next Saturday!
Wasn’t talking about his home state that made it personal. If you watch “When They Were Kings” Mike Mooney visited both schools on recruiting trips. He says NDSU wanted him to be a weight room “cheerleader” while obviously UND wanted to him to actually play. I think he gave an extra gear for Sioux-Bison games.

Curious side note - some threads have the heading “The UND” while others have simply “UND.” We have won all the “UND” games and lost all the “The UND” games. This one has “The UND” - can we get that changed?

The Romfo running package was awesome; hope they start mixing in some passes with it or it will become way too predictable
Yeah, it looked like he was lining up to throw on his last rushing touchdown and I was a little disappointed he just ran again. Maybe we’re saving that wrinkle for next week??

AJS, I’ve been thinking along the same lines as you. While UND rolled a bad team yesterday, I still didn’t see a team that is built to handle a good opponent. Too many missed tackles, too many conversions allowed on 4th down, too many <name your own bugaboo>. Now maybe it’ll all come together next week, but we keep thinking that and keep getting disappointed.
I’m also not sure if this game is as personal to the team (the coaches, yes, especially the head coach) as it is to the fans. Who’s the Mike Mooney of this team who will take out personal vendettas against them?

NAU beats Weber St. That win keeps paying dividends.

What’s the advantage of YSU beating up SIU?

Yep. The bad games have the longest discussion.

I’m ready for some style points. Our final score has to start with a 3, preferably a 4. Defense holding to single digits would be ideal.
Check and almost check. Score was solid. Perhaps better than the play deserved. Let’s get on to next week.
