  1. Wow - this young bunch of talent brings amazing opportunities for coaches to coach. Defense - let's turn into a unit to be feared instead of the eratic group from last year.

Goalies - we have three with good credentials - I hope someone takes a leap forward and claims the job - it's certainly open to any of the three. I was disappointed no one claimed it last year.

Offense - Please, let's get out of the damned corners and go up and down for once - Use our talent.

Time for Hak to evolve as a coach.

Wouldn't you rather see them work the boards then the puck gets shot to the middle of the ice when noone is ever there?

  2. I'm gonna have to disagree about him 'flopping' around. He's super quick side to side and dropping down to butterfly but I didn't see him flopping around like Lamoureux or anything. I wish he was taller though......

I'm going to agree with you about not seeing flopping, if he's a flopper what does that make Lamoureux? He looks like a good goalie and I can't wait to see him!

  3. I think if we get Ausmus we will see a D core of Simpson, Mattson, Panzerella, Schmaltz, LaDue, Ausmus, Thompson, and then maybe Stecher or maybe we would just go with 7 for next year.

    Didn't Ausmus commit to Duluth?

  4. Who ever would have expected this? One would have thought that he would have been used as a checking forward/penalty killer. Which he would be great at. Now he is a scoring sensation?

Nothing against Mario but is the ECHL easier to score in then college?

  5. Think there are players out there that could challenge Gothberg. You never know with goaltenders, as confidence is a huge thing. You could be great one year, and terrible the next. Hopefully Gothberg does become more consistent, but don't know that is a given with more experience, as he had issues giving up the occasional bad goal with the Force as well. If there is one thing we know with goaltenders is that coaches hate them giving up the bad goals and want them to stop the ones they are supposed to, along with the occasional ones they shouldn't. Never would have expected after Schweitzer led us to the National Championship in 1997 that he would be sitting on the bench a lot the following year when Goehring came in, and then be gone the following year.

I say Goehring is the goalie for the next 4 years but they put a different name on him, wouldn't that work???:)

  6. Schmaltz didn't impress you? Seriously? What'd you expect 15 goal season? He was a stud and got better as the year went on. He was a freshman as well and was far better than Forbort his freshman year.

I think we have far too high of expectations on freshman who are 18-19, remember they're playing in some cases against 22-24 yr olds. Physically and mentally there not nearly on the same maturity plain.

Maybe I expected more out of him because he went in the first round, I actually thought he was lucky to go in the first round. Like I've said before it doesn't seem like we've had that much like with first round defenseman in the last 10 years, just my opinion.

  7. I think the freshmen will need a little time to adjust to the college game and this will probably make our defense a little bit of a question mark the 1st half of the season but during the 2nd half of the season I would expect the defense to be pretty good. I think we will have a less physical group of defensemen but also a better skating and quicker group of defensemen that by the end of the season could be one of the better groups of defensemen especially if we are able to add Ausmus. I would also expect Schmaltz to take a big step forward next season as well and a great season from Simpson too.

Forward is the only way Schmaltz can go, he didnt impress me at all last year.

  8. Okay I'm going to get yelled at for this, Kristo and Knight were good they weren't great. Kristo head sparks of being really good but he needed to be set up. He had a hard time beating defenders to the net against the wall. I don't think he was game changer I would have taken Oshie over him any day. Not saying Kristo wasn't good but I don't think he's good is everyone says he is.

Knight was awesome at faceoffs but I wasn't going to count on him to score the game winning goal.

If Oshie and Toews were still on the team Kristo and Knight wouldv been on the second line, not saying they wernt good at all.
