  1. The Mac truck is going to spin a couple purple eagles around out there. Lets just hope the refs know what a big hit is :) guessing they will be hockey east or ccha refs

It doesn't seem to matter what refs are used, if Mac hits a guy and the guy stays down Macs gonna get called, really irritating to watch. Either college hockey is becoming a wousy sport or the refs just don't want the sioux to be physical!

  2. Seems like almost every time the sioux got the puck last night cc was on them challenging them, now why don't the sioux do that especially on the pk. In ot cc gets the puck in there zone and the sioux players got right back on defence and let cc skate right out of their zone. I think we need to stop getting defencemen that go in the first round and we need to find another goalie like Goerhing!

  3. I'll try to give some perspective as a Gopher fan without being biased or troll-like. Championships are constantly determined by a couple of factors:

    1) Great goal-tending.

    2) Solid Defense

    3) Getting hot at the right time.

    4) Depth

It's not hard to see...that at least at this moment...UND is not firing on all four of these factors. There's no clear number #1 goalie that is playing well, the D has had a lot of let down moments, their energy/effort is not as good as it has been at other points, and they are getting most of their production from about 3 guys. I don't see 1 or 4 changing anytime soon; unless of course a goalie just gets hot...it can happen. When you're still debating line combos and who should dress that suggests there's not great depth. Saying the role players suck or can't help is going too far. All the players on a team like MN or UND are talented...but not all are high-end game changers. Regarding #2; the defense has some talent but hasn't seemed to gel. I always remember a Sioux D-core having big, tough guys to play against...not sure that edge is there this year...IDK though because I obviously don't follow it that closely. I know from our perspective we expect a hard hitting (cheap vs tough-nosed depending on your bias) effort from the Sioux and this years series there were hardly many scrums or penalties...they were way more tame than I remember them. Hell UMD played us with way more physicality. Seems there's a lot of concern they fired the wrong assistant. MN certainly did this with Hill and Guentzel and the squad went from very mediocre to very good pretty quickly once it was rectified.

I'd say the Sioux's best shot a a run lies with #3. They have historically been a team that plays very well at crunch time and they certainly can play with a lot of heart and pride; even if it's not happening right now. For this years squad to win...I think they need to get hot, play with passion, and probably get some good fortune to overcome some atypical shortcomings that they wouldn't normally have to worry about. I wouldn't bet on them because when your wondering if you'll even make the tourney that doesn't usually bode well for your chances. That said, I'd rather not face them and they will certainly be a tough out if they do get in...which I think they will.

Serious question...what point in the season would you cite that would give you faith that this team had the winning formula? In other words, what is their high mark you want them to get back to? With MN I could certainly point to efforts against BC, Notre Dame, UND Friday night, even a blowout against a lesser Mich St. What is the Sioux top end effort and, if they could get there, would that be good enough to consistently beat the best in the nation? Time will tell I guess. I'd wish you luck but I'd be lying. :)

I think they're afraid to hit to hard in fear of getting a penalty, seems like when a guy gets hit hard he lays on the ice and than the refs call a penalty IMO

  4. @jallengary

jeez, what a mess. don't worry so much about UND, buddy. just enjoy your own team.

subtle trolling is still trolling. you should've came and shared your feelings after we won on Friday and you would've looked like a genius, but as it is, you're just a weak-ass troll.

anybody start that Game 3 Thread yet?

Be classy, he wasn't being rude I didn't think

  5. I'm just sick of the guys getting the puck and skating around with it I there zone for a few then skate it out, I know you have to regroup but it seems like they take a little too long. and I know danny has the most goals on team but how many teams know he's going to skate up the boards and try to make a pass or shoot the puck, he does the same thing all the time, he need to learn how to skate around the defender or get fast enough to skate right by him. Rocco has to start burying his shots and watch some of his passes but i cant get mad at him cuz he works his ass off every shift

  6. The wording in the agreement is poorly written and one reasonably could interpret it the way you did. I initially interpreted it that way too when I first read the agreement. However, it appears that the NCAA is just fine with UND not having a nickname because it has officially removed UND from the sanctions list and has said UND is in compliane with the policy. Thus, I believe having no nickname is an option. Having said that, I think it is highly likely that the University will move forward with naming a new nickname once it is able to do so under the statute.

And lets see how many people buy that jersey, I sure as hell am not!!

  7. When did you grow up watching Sioux hockey? It took them 10 years to win a banner after the Circus left town. Don't even get me started on the teams from the late 80s/early 90s. Some of those teams had more offensive firepower than UND has ever had, with G Johnson, Dixon Ward, Russ R and others, yet they couldn't make it into the tourney some years. The '97 team got lucky that BU took down the prohibitive favorite. The '98 and '99 teams were supposed to win it all, but the coaching must not have been good enough, or the teams did not want it bad enough, or the fans just didn't care enough, because they just choked it up, at least in your mind. As for UND's ancient "glorious past," how many banners did they win between the time Kennedy was elected and 1980? What a pathetic program.

Do you go to the games because you love the game, or are you just looking for someone else to accomplish something that will give you some second-hand validation you are lacking in other areas of your life? You are mistaking childishness for pride.

The sioux have to win the ncaa this year, sense the first time they won it they havnt gone more then 13 years sense wining it!
