  1. I saw the late start times.. that will be an adjustment. But, I think that it will be good.

The late times will give the student body enough time to nurse their hangover and then get lubed up and actually support the football team this year. No student wants to wake up 'early' on a Saturday to watch football with a pounding headache.

  2. I know for a fact they're getting new unis, I had heard from a god source that some stealthy new helmets were in play but I haven't heard much of that recently.

  3. Not a big fan of Sutton. Not that fast and seems to get hurt a lot. Reminds of the old D2 types that Lenon had. Miller can take a short run and turn it into a 90 yard td like in Fresno. Sutton would have been caught around midfield?

Oh and speaking of D2 guys, Miller reminds me of a smaller slower Ryan Chappell.

I can't say Sutton is fast because he's not, but he is a load. The reason he gets hurt is becuase of how he runs and where he runs. He runs through people instead of around like Jake. At about 230 we need that type of physical back on our team. He gives our offense the balance it needs. Jake and Jer are quicker and faster but they won't be breaking too many tackles any time soon like Sutton does. They all compliment eachother and give us a well rounded backfield for next season which is very exciting.

Also don't forget that Sutton was dominant against Fresno St. until he pulled his hammy. He's no Jake Miller but he can still ball.

  5. Miller, been there done that...he should be the guy that only gets the carries in mop up duty. Should be Miller, Garmin, Sparks, Shagaubay, and then Sutton.

    care to elaborate?

  6. How does PJ Sparks look? What kind of runningback is he? How much playing time do you expect him to get this season?

He reminds me alot of Josh Murray. More powerful and hard nosed with more pop behind his pads and better long speed. He's very strong for a freshman and fast enough. But when you look at the depth chart this year doesn't favor him. Miller Sutton Garmin then Sparks if he's ahead of Butler if he comes back and Shagaubay. Should be a very solid special teams contributor and could get mop up duty but I don't see alot of carries next year barring injury.

  7. Minnesota went over 20 years without winning a national title, made the NCAA almost every year when it was much more difficult to do so, and didn't fall off the "radar." Same with Boston Univeristy. 1972 to 1995, I believe. UND hockey will be fine, it's just that their fans get spoiled with 7 national championships.

The expectations of fans are what make programs great they root as hard as they expect teams to play and they get pissed when they don't win becuase they want it so bad. We should be happy with our very spoiled fans, although some take it too far I will admit.

I wouldnt mind a coaching change if it meant more ncaa titles.

Who would you suggest? Bring Blaise back? Hakstol has done quite well. York didn't win crap at BC until recently in his long career. It took him 7 years to win his first and then 7 more to win his second. Look at him now. Three years ago at NDSU their football fans wanted Bohl gone and now they worship the ground on which he walks. It's UND it'll happen, don't forget that luck is involved in winning a championship and maybe it's being stockpiled right now.

  8. Skill was never in question but what really seemed to piss people off was that he seemed to be playing not to get hurt and would shy away from certain physical situations. He just seemed to have no heart which at UND is never tolerated by most fans.

  9. I believe Schmaltz will report to Grand Forks. I do have my doubts about Lemieux despite the tweets. A lot can change in the next 2 years. For example, maybe his experience in Green Bay won't be positive. Perhaps his priorities change. Perhaps he gets drafted a year from now and the NHL team wants him to go to the MJ route.

I'm 85% sold on Nick reporting to Grand Forks. It goes to 95% if Jordan shows up to Grand Forks in the fall. 5% remains in case Jordan is treated poorly at UND (see Lee, Brian). This is unlikely, but anything is possible.

As for Lemieux, I believe there is a 60% chance he comes to Grand Forks.

Had he been drafted in the 8th round or later, I'd make it 80% with Nick but... top 5 rounds isn't good. 1st round is a goner for sure (Michigan State lost a recruit). 2nd round is almost positively gone (UNO may very well lose one) and it gets slightly less likely as the rounds go by but you are never sure until the 8th or 9th round.

refresh my memory on Lee, I can remember him not having the greatest time at UND but I can't remember what it was or why? Maybe it had to do with his hitting opposing players with his purse instead of his pads?

  10. I don't know what you're reading. I said that Bradley didn't show a lot of accuracy or touch on long passes and that they didn't complete nearly enough passes. Receivers did drop a few of his passes early in the season. I said that he had a rough season. And I said he was a work in progress. That means he should show some improvement this year. Most players should show improvement from year to year.

I said that Goska did a better job because he was a better leader and could run, which Bradley couldn't do. And that Goska threw better the last few games. But Goska is not a great passer either. He completed 7% more of his passes and 25 yards per game more than Bradley. He also through 2 more interceptions than Bradley on a total of 3 more attempts. And the yards per completion difference was less than 1 (Goska was at 10.9 and Bradley 10.1). Neither had great passing stats.

I haven't seen Hanson at all. And I didn't compare Bradley to him. Hanson could be a huge improvement. I expect Bradley to be a better QB this coming year than he was last year. A lot of young players can make a lot of improvement over time. I don't get where you thought I was a huge fan of Bradley's. Just relax and enjoy watching some UND football.

You said that there wasn't a big difference between the two, which, given what Goska meant to last years team as the heart and soul, was a little bit of a slap in the face. Goska's passing efficiency was 128.0 Bradley was 99.0. In four starts Goska passed for 999 yards which is basically 200 more than Bradley in 7 starts. Goska passed for 9 TDs to Bradley's 3. Comp % Goska not very good at 59% and Bradley at a Jamarcus Russel-like 52%. The point being, Goska made a massive difference for last years team.

Bradely could make a huge jump like Goska did as a passer, but given his machanics, stature, arm strength, pocket awareness, and leadership I don't see him being better than Hansen this year or Comes next year. I like the guy but I just don't see a D1 qb when I watch him play.

  11. He was replaced because they weren't completing enough passes and because the team wasn't moving the ball well. Goska was a better leader, and he added the running dimension. His passing wasn't a whole lot better, although he had a couple of decent games at the end of the season.

Please don't make me post the passing stats for each guy from last year. Bradley's stats are terrible. You sound like you're a huge fan of him. I was hoping he would be the real deal when he came in last year but after the first game it was very clear that he didn't have it.

I've seen enough of the practices to notice that Hansen is at another tier, there is a reason he was rated 18th in the nation coming out of high school. His touch and reads are unreal and he has barley been in the system. After a summer and fall camp I think he will be the best we've had since Freund except this time the guy is 6'5" with a stronger arm.

  12. Kind of hard to make a decision on how good an arm a QB has from one play like that. He could have short-armed it, lost his grip, been distracted or even hit be a defensive player, etc. I've seen plenty of good QBs bounce short passes. He threw a few long balls that had good distance, but not great touch or accuracy. I think he was a work in progress and may be better than what he showed the first half of last season.

Theres a reason he was replaced by Goska nuff said

  13. Compared to Landry in 2010. Bradley's Arm was better than Landry but accuracy is what hurt him.

You honestly think he has a better arm than Landry? You do realize Landry had a 90+ mph fastball in highschool right? Landry had a very very strong arm. Bradley not so much. Coaches commented on Landry's arm strength, they've mentioned anything but that with Bradley. Next time you see a UND practice watch Bradley throw and then watch the other QBs throw, particularily Hendrickson and you should notice a big difference in velocity.

  14. You missed Rodwell. I would think that if he's healed up that he'd get penciled back into his spot in the line up.

good point. I just wonder where he would go, his production was very poor last year and he wasn't that noticable to me when he was healthy. I wish we had one more forward line to fit all of the players in. I feel like the scratches next year are going to be quality players that would otherwise be able to contribute which I guess speaks to the depth that will be there next year barring injury like this year.

  15. We need more than one of those. We need deep passes as well as short ones. Gotta keep the defense guessing. Thats what hurt us last year everyone knew what kind of passes we were going to throw. Of course we need a passer that has accuracy and I think that was Bradley's problem early last year. Good arm but not accurate. Hanson could be the guy to get it done!! He has one shot left and you know he is going to make the best of it.

I think Hansen has the job all but wrapped up.

Can you define what you mean by good arm? From what I saw in his passes last year Bradley had an average arm at best by high school standards. Maybe my standards are too high but when someone one hops a bubble screen to the field side I don't see a good arm.

  16. updated possible combos

    Rowney Grimaldi ODonnell

    St. Clair/Chyzk McMillan Koules

    Pattyn St. Clair/Chyzk Senkbeil/Gaarder

  17. Greg Hardin absolutly dominated todays practice. He caught everything even with tight coverage. The offense took a huge step forward today. Even with the wind passing was on point. Hansen and Bradley each connected on 40+ yard TD throws.

  18. Any more down than the 2008 Frozen Four when BC put a 6-1 smack-down on the Sioux in the semi-finals and then beat Notre Dame 4-1 in the title game?

Or maybe more than the 2010 Frozen Four when BC beat RIT 8-1 in the semi-finals and crushed Wisconsin 5-0 in the championship?

Maybe it's just that BC is THAT good.

BC is winning for the same reason that the SEC can't be touched in football. Team speed. Much like the SEC elite they are just faster than everyone else.

  19. What no faith in your team?

I think he was giving the perspective of the ignorant FBS view point. I think we have a really good chance of winning and am actually expecting it. The team looks lightyears ahead of last years team on offense and the D is more athletic especially at linebacker.

  20. great day for some spring ball. not a cloud in the sky. hopefully someone on here attends practice today, it should be a good one with the weather.
