There was not a whole lot of talent left from Lennon. Chappell leaving the team was a huge blow as was Stroup talent wise. Same with Bamba and others. It took a while to catch up at WR and we're still looking for some dudes at RB ( maybe Sparks and Shags?) and some CBs for God's sake. At QB we had not a who lot compared to the past and the defense was pretty in athletic with a few exceptions. Mussman didn't inherit a bountiful talent pool like Bohl. He didn't win with his own players until Jensens fr year. Back on topic. Winning the great west in 2011 was a masterful coaching job because offense had almost no talent outside of the young WRs. The talent was in place on offense last year but obviously the defense had holes and tons of injuries. I know there will be a fr qb next year but the defense will be markedly improved and the offense will be more balanced but still potent.

Does anyone think it would matter for Becks sake how many punches he threw? If the other guy has a glass jaw and was dropped with one shot then is it really worth a felony charge? If he hit him repeatedly after he was down then it would be a totally different situation correct? I'm not saying I defend the guy but eye whiteness reports are so unreliable it's crazy and that's all we're relying on for our insight as of now so this whole thing could be worse or not as big a deal as it seems right now.

Last I checked fans don't make personnel decisions. Reality you say? The reality is that they gave Bohl enough time to right the ship and he did. We are doing the same for Mussman. It's the way successful organizations in sports run things. Teams with coaching carousels never succeed.

It took 6 years because of lack of talent and ambition. UND's team is loaded at some spots and is filling the void at others. It took NDSU a while to find CBs that could cover at this level.

If they weren't Bohl wouldn't have lasted to the playoff runs of late. He went from a coach on the hot seat to a god in Fargo.

If he gets through this year and the next one that will make 8 years not quite ten. Patience is what makes programs great. Teams shouldn't get a new coach every year like the Raiders. High expectations are needed but so is patience. The Raiders have high expectations but no patience which is why they get a new coach every year and haven't made the playoffs in years. The next two years will be very telling.

If anything having a kid will make him grow up in a hurry and could make him a great leader. I checked his twitter and he's seems pumped to have the baby in his life so I'm sure he'll make things work for his young family.

The three year clock for success at this level started last year and there were glimpses of hope. It's a program full of hungry players and coaches that are ready to restore the program to greatness by any means necessary. The fire and talent are now in place, it's time to execute and develop into champs.

The shadows cast by Lennon and Blais are so overblown. They were both great coaches, especially Blais, but they were successful at UND a long time ago. Things change and its time to move on from them. Look to Gino for what happens if you hold on too long to the ways of old.

D2 is dead. We will be very good in football in time. Basketball, who knows. Hockey will sustain itself. The future in D1 is very bright. Football is the #1 sport in America. There are plenty of football fans in the GF area to pack the Alerus and even a much larger stadium. The team must re-establish itself first.

I'd rather wait for a few years of playoff regularity first.
