  1. It's the right spot not the only open one.
  2. It's not about it being resilient. It's about realizing the potential that exists. There are so many things that can be done to make our downtown outstanding, we just need to do them.
  3. It's called momentum and it's a real thing.
  4. That corner park is currently targeted for a different development proposal. That park needs to go. It offers nothing.
  5. As I've said before its a fantastic park. I think other spots downtown can get to that level and we can add this new development. This is a huge tipping point for the future of grand forks. Do we want to push forward into the future or stagnate?
  6. It was less than inspiring when I played. They should have the band march and play through the parking lot and end up where the bus stops and have the team walk through. Hopefully that would gather up more people and build the excitement.
  7. Do we want to boost our downtown and make it the place to be like Fargo has in the last decade? Yes. Do we want our downtown to be entirely concrete like Fargo? Hell no. This project has the balance of both sides. What would really help is to move some of UND downtown like NDSU did in Fargo. That is the reason Fargo's downtown is white hot right now.
  8. Not so many early games would help the atmosphere.
  9. The actual gobc has been holding gf back for years.
  10. That's true but Grand Forks is not anywhere near as business friendly as Fargo is and that has held us back for a long long time. We don't need to be as big as Fargo, I don't want that, but being more business friendly would be an improvement.
  11. It's a beautiful park and a nice thing to walk through. People have been misled to believe that the entire park is going up in smoke. The reality of it is some of the park and all of the art will remain. It's a win win. The park will have more foot traffic after the construction of the building than ever before.

  13. I hear panda baffet gives a mean massage
  14. The photographer who took pics at my wedding absolutely loved downtown Grand Forks. He is from Fargo and wishes they had pocket parks like we do. We must keep the others but the corner park and part of Arbor park would be better served with a building.
  15. I agree with you here. It's cool to have but I dont see why it needs to be all concrete. The stage sure, but everyone enjoys grass more than concrete. Greenspace is always important. You're stretching pretty hard on the green way though. I see plenty of whippersnappers all over the greenway with their fixed gear bikes and man buns.
  16. Its really not. It would be far more expensive and less fruitful to build over the other pocket parks with the exception of the one on the corner which needs to go anyway. The buildings neighboring the others have windows facing the park and egress exits going in to them. That creates a nightmare for planning a building in those spots.
  17. Arbor park is fantastic as are the other pocket parks. We should hold on to the others but this opportunity with Arbor Park is too good to pass up. These are the types of projects that Grand Forks needs to embrace if we want to compete with other cities to keep talented young people around and attract a talented work force for new innovative businesses. People tend to be reactionary with most everything in life, we would benefit from embracing a little vision from time to time.
  18. Cream rises to the top. If any of them get the shirt pulled they are a stud.
  19. As many as possible. That one on the corner is worthless but the other ones are great. It doesn't sound like they will build on the other parks other than part of arbor and the one on the corner. I a huge proponent of maximal green space because that adds a certain quality that buildings cannot. There's a reason NYC did the hi line. I really like the design proposal for arbor park because it isn't just plopping a building down on the entire site footprint. They were very considerate of the existing park and incorporated it into the new plan.
  20. The city council has no balls

Was at the Hofbrauhaus is Vegas last weekend and had myself a good time.... and probably too much Hefeweizen
  22. Have you seen what is planned for right now? It may actually be an improvement on the existing park.
  23. My wife keeps asking me why I need every home game from last season on the DVR.
  24. I've heard JLG is planning on moving there. It's all conjecture until it's built though obviously.
  25. Watching this video actually changed my vote to being in favor of this development. There is a lot of misinformation out there. Just watch the video and it answers alot of questions. http://jlgarchitects.com/projects/gfk-4th-street-development
