Six? That's five opponents, 20 league games. You have to come up with 14-16 non-conf every year.

So 1 more road series and 1 more home series.  Doesn't sound like a big deal.

Why do you think that?  Is your only thought that the conference is too big?

I just don't think UST is going to be the great.  Stepping into a premium conference while trying to build a program is going to be very tough.  Besides Alumni i don't think you are going to get much support from the community.  It is a U of M market and they will be little brother to them.  They will be the new Miami and will not add anything when it comes to SOS.

Also too many teams into conference.  Hate the unbalanced schedule.  After adding ASU it forced them to add a 10th team.  Doubt UST would be in if not for ASU being added.  I have always liked the 6 team conference, thought 8 was too many.  Now 10 is way too many.

You mean original 8. This isn't the 1960's NHL.

There was no Western Michigan or St Cloud originally.

On July 9, 2011, the athletic directors of the six founding schools, Colorado College, the University of Denver, Miami University, the University of Minnesota Duluth, the University of Nebraska Omaha, and the University of North Dakota, confirmed these reports by announcing the conference officially and giving the date for a press conference for further information on July 13, 2011.[3]

They are a sleeping giant who will wake up in the next 5 years. They are an asset which will increase in value over time. It is always better to acquire an asset before it increases in value. Which school would have been a better choice? Bemidji?

I would have stuck with the original 6.  It would have allowed for all teams to play each other 4 times and more opportunities for N/C games.

    Richmond? Sac State?

Yes, Playoffs are a problem.  After I posted I thought about going back and editing, but didn't.

Overall his record against good teams at home is pretty good.  Road record regardless of quality of opponent is poor.

Here's what I got. There were a few teams that really were hit hard by graduation / portal (ISU-B, Youngstown, UNI). Some that weren't.

    • 4 - Win or season over - Idaho St at home, San Diego at home, Murray St. at home, at ISU-B
    • 4 - Tossup games - UNI at home, at Youngstown, USD at home, at Illinois State
    • 1 - Not Likely - Montana at Home
    • 3 - No past indicators of Victory games - Iowa St on the Road, NDSU on the Road, Jacks at Home

Disagree with this one.  UND under Bubba is different at home.  See Spring of 2021 vs the Jacks, 2023 vs NDSU and the toss up game vs NDSU in Fall on 2021. As will as many others over the years.

Only 2 game with no chance of victory are at NDSU and at Iowa St.

  7. I don't know how you build a program having the Transfer Portal.  UND Football and MBB feels like a Minor League Program.  Only chance at success is if you catch lightening in a bottle and everyone overachieves in the same year and choose to "run it back" as the kids say.  Otherwise the kids that are developing and getting success are leaving for greener pastures.

In the overall picture of college hockey which of these are overrated or underrated:

    Culture-Under
    Facilities-Over
    Fan base-Over
    Traveling fans-Over
    Star players-Over
    School location-Over
    Private chef-Over
    Puck luck-Over
    Hot goalie-Under

Saying this team mailed it in when, let’s be honest, the three games lost included zero games that actually mattered (minus retaining a 1 seed). They were locked into the tournament when they locked up the Penrose. There’s something to be said for competing (or being complacent)  in games that don’t hold much value.

Hopefully they flip the switch but we’ll find out Friday night. In a game that really means something.

They have been locked into the tournament for a while now.  Fridays lost cost the team a chance at the nchc tournament championship.  It absolutely mattered.  If Friday didn’t matter neither than the last month and a half.

  10. I wish UND would bid to host at the Ralph every year.  Stop the biding to host at Scheels and in Sioux Falls.  Feeling like they are letting the NCAA off the hook, by bidding for neutral sites.  UND and only a few others are the only ones place bids.  If no one placed neutral site bids they would have to allow hosting at home arenas.

Besides we have not had much luck when hosting in Sioux falls or Scheels.

Well, I scanned the article, and so much for negotiation ...

    2024: $255k

    2025: $265k

    2026 (Ext): $275k

    2027 (Ext): $285k

*Buyout portion of the contract remains UNCHANGED!

If fired without cause, Bubba receives 100% of the base salary for the first 24 months. 75% of his base salary for months 25-36, and 50% of his base salary for months 37-48.

Bill is pathetic. It must be nice to be able to make the kind of money these guys are making without actually having to show results. Now take my next comment as it is intended ... Bill's only saving grace as AD is that he still has a very successful hockey program to fall back on. That being said, I don't understand that complete lack of awareness around Football. To be honest, I don't think he actually has had to do much for hockey ... that well oiled machine kind of runs itself, but he will be sure to take credit for that. Bubba apart from taking us up a notch after Muss, has really done nothing to warrant the last two extensions.

Maybe if I stop working so hard at my job, I'll get rewarded too! ... but I doubt it :glare:

Are you really trying to say he doesn't work hard?  He is in over his head and don't believe he can take the program to the next level, but to imply he doesn't work are in unfair.

$30 a game is too much? For a college hockey game? Regardless, that's you, boo boo. I'm pumped for it.

The thing is a lot of fans could care less about the game if UND is not playing.  So it is $50/game if they win or $100/game if they lose.

Damn him for growing the sport of college hockey!!

    My thoughts exactly.

The members of the Big 10 could have pushed for a change in the Bylaws to not form a Big 10 hockey conference.  They saw the chance to generate more money and no one did anything to change it.  I guess I can't blame them.

even more reason to go big10/ccha model...these games should be staggered on a saturday.....1 or2 pm and then 6 or 7pm

4pm on a friday.....out of town neutral site....

Problem with the Big10/CCHA Model and the future NCHC model is there is too much time off before the national tournament if you don't make it to the championship game.  Wisconsin is going to get 3 weeks without playing a game.  Also College hockey should have at least 2 games every weekend.  With the Semi-Finals and Finals only being a single game we miss out on a lot of hockey.

Omaha playing for their season for two weeks.  After that loss Friday I had written them off, but as good teams do they found a way.

I hope our guys can match their intensity on Friday.  That was lacking the last time they played.

UND should be the more desperate team Friday night.  We need a win for a #1 seed.  Looks to me like UNO is looked in at a #3 seed.

  16. Personally I'm hoping Omaha gets a 4 seed and UND and Denver remain as 1 seeds.  Would love to see BU or BC have to travel to Sioux Falls to deal with Omaha.  An Omaha win would get us closer to higher seeds hosting 1st and 2nd round games in the NCAA tournament.

UND had there chance to all but eliminate UNO.  They didn't so I guess I don't think they deserve to be the 1 seed in Sioux Falls.

What are we cheering for in the Omaha / CC series? Anything, but CC in 3? Top priority being UND being in the Sioux Falls regional. That can only not happen (being realistic) if Omaha finishes 13th or 14th (w/ an outside change of the 14th being picked off by an auto-bid). Might sound odd, but after last weekend, my ideal situation would be UND as the #1 seed and Omaha as the #3 seed in Sioux Falls.

I think at this point we are cheering for Omaha so they are the 3 seed.  I don't see them dropping to 15 or below.  Otherwise we will need a couple teams below 15 winning there tournaments.

I thought so too but the article you quote above makes me wonder about this now with him being honored this weekend. No other choice but to hit the portal again if he doesn't come back.

All Seniors that have not been honored for a Senior night yet are being honored.  Nothing to do with whether they are coming back or not.  I'm guessing those decisions will be made by the Athlete and coaches end of April or May.

I sure hope we are not hitting the portal again next year for the 4th year in a row.  I thought we had a star Goaltender set to come in.  Beside Hobie needs to be given a shot.  Bothers me how Berry relies on one goaltender for the whole season.  He need to get the back-up some minutes throughout the year for the good of the future or injuries.
