  1. If you lived outside of the root area at least youd have the choice to go with a dish system though. Fans outside of midco's footprint have an option of online only.

That is why it would be really nice if Midco could sell their sports network to Dish/DTV. Comcast did that with their Comcast Sports Network, and those channels available on certain Dish/DTV tiers. I'm sure Midco would love that, but it's up to Dish/DTV.

  2. weren't fans saying the same thing about a certain defensive captain we had a few years back.

Exactly... There have been a few whipping boy defensemen over the last 10 years (Genoway, Lee, Smaby, Finley, etc.) Some deserved it, some probably didn't. Usually people thought they belonged in the lineup despite the issues, but with Mattson many think there are better options. Last year, maybe, this year with our youth, I'd say no. He just needs to clean it up a bit. He made some fine plays against Vermont, including a hard back-check and breakup on an odd-man rush to make up for getting caught up-ice.

For D this weekend, I agree with AZ on who's in. But maybe Hak needs to continue changing up the pairings.

  3. Mattson has tons of skill, but his offensive tendency has gotten him in trouble on the defensive end a lot in the last year and change. As a freshman, he may not have had the confidence to make some of the decisions he makes these days - thus kept his game simpler. I'm sure the coaches are in his head, and am hoping to see him steady out.

As far as this weekend's games, I always look forward to the big series. It's nice to have a perennial national contender in-conference that I don't despise (yet?) It would be a safe bet to pick one game as a run-and-gun higher scoring affair, and the other much more contained. No predictions, other than hopefully exciting hockey.

  4. That is what the artist thought also. Problem was it did not turn out that way. Might have been an issue with who owned the rights. For Associated to sell them they probably would have had to go to court first to get a judgment to have the right to sell them. Then after getting their costs back they would have had to cut up the money with the artist. If the artist maybe had not spent so much time losing all his money at the Southgate gambling he would have been in a better place. Instead of paying Associated for the prints he took the money to the Southgate pull tabs. Siouxtupa can say what he wants but I saw his dad doing this and knew the people who ran the gaming at the Gate. Sorry if this sounds cruel but it is a fact.

Regardless of its truth, it's seriously bush league to make comments like this. It has very little bearing to the original post. It seems like you respond to every single thread about these paintings the same way - even one asking about the 50 years print (which was a completely different piece.) Take your personal vendettas off the board please.

  5. I think that most of us already imagined a situation with UND and Minnesota playing a regional final at the Ralph, until something called Holy Cross happened. It was still epic.

    Michigan was there too :D

I'm all for changing the format. Love the idea of a best of three for the first round. Four games for the whole shebang just doesn't seem like enough.

  6. The atmosphere in Grand Rapids was pathetic at best. The Griffins fans (the GR AHL team) in front of us said, "Well, it's a Friday afternoon...did you expect better?" Yes. Yes, we did.

I'd almost buy that excuse for the Friday game, but Saturday attendance was just as bad.

  7. could somebody please explain to me why we would have been so afraid to play mankato? they didn't see our A game down there and barely got a split.

I don't think anyone's afraid of Mankato. In my opinion, I'd rather watch UND/CC because of the fast paced style of play. Both teams prefer an up-tempo style, and it usually means a fun game.

  8. I think you can say in a 7-game playoff format like the NHL, the best team should win most of the time. In NCAA hockey, you have to win 4 national tourney games to win the championship. 4 games...that's not even a major hot streak!

I would dare to say it's almost more unusual in this era of college hockey to see the regular season dominant teams win it all. I really want to see the Sioux win NCAA championships, but am not delusional enough to think I have any bearing on that outcome. I'll continue to cheer loud and watch any way possible every week.

  9. Braved the storm, and it wasn't terrible by ND standards. Left at 11am after digging about 5" off my car. Visibility was decent, but snow was heavy and wet. Took nearly 3 hours to get from the DU campus area to Fort Collins. Lots of idiots, accidents, and cars in the ditch. The rest of my trek back to Rapid City wasn't bad either, some blowing snow near Cheyenne. Turned a 6 hour drive into 9 hours, but I made it with nothing major to report.
