The NCHC Championship will be a CCHA Championship. Miami vs <---- Michigan.
Could be...or it could be a WCHA Championship

Of course you can argue that many of the away fans probably already live in the larger metro areas of these teams. But fans still have to buy the tickets and go to the games. No matter how you phrase it, UND seems to bring large contingents of enthusiastic fans regardless of the venue.

Forgot about that regional...I thought Western was in Grand Rapids somewhat recently too.
Were they in Green Bay when the Sioux beat Denver to advance in 2011? Maybe that's the one.

Every game needs to start like that OT from here on out, or the season ends. You could feel that goal coming as it usually does for the team getting dominated in OT. Don't leave it up to the last goal tomorrow.

I picked that Kovacs (2) goal over Grimaldi (2) as well. Just impressive all around.
I also picked that one over Rocco's 2nd. That Rocco goal must have been during a weak batch of goals. It really wasn't that impressive of a finish. Agreed that it was fluky.

Herbert's second goal I think is better then Pitt's goal.
I like that one too. I have it losing to Caggiula, though, if I'm remembering the right goal.

I wonder how much the attendance was affected by it being a Thursday night game.
More or less than a Friday afternoon game? I'd go less, plus it started at 7:30 CDT.

I don't think Drake's is hands-down the best, but it is 1 or 2 for sure. He walked the senior captain D on the Penrose-winning team, and went shelf from a really tough angle. One by Kovacs is a nice move around a D then fake out the G/bowl him over. Pitt's I think should win, regardless of how crappy the D played him, he chipped it to an open spot to himself and then made a great shot to beat the goalie. So he basically skated through the whole Michigan team. It's between Drake and Pitt for me, and despite the pool I'll still probably vote for Drake.
Granted, whoever decided to only go with the #1 goals probably made the wrong call. There were some weeks with a bad #1 and others where the #2 and #3 were just as good.
Also, who picked that ultra-repetitive ear-worm background music? I like rock for sure, but a little variety would be nice!

Just under 3900 in the rink last night in Omaha. Yikes!!
It looked really bad on the webcast. Huge sections of missing people. 3900 would look decent in a 5000 seat arena, but looks terrible in one that holds 18000.

Ultimately it's a combination of both popularity and goal quality. I believe the two finalists will be two very nice goals (one by our favorite team.)

Simpson is a finalist for those two plus Defenseman of the Year

Other than the National Championship, I'd have to go with the regular season championship, Penrose Cup. It represents the body of work over the entire regular season. Hobey baker is nice, but I'd put that down on the list even below advancing to Frozen Four.

Big time credit to WMU. They played so much hungrier than last night. It says a lot about their character. Hak doesn't play the game, but you could read the urgency on his face all game. The team has to be much faster and hungrier from now on. Nearly every game from this point ends some team's season.

I wish NCAA hockey would decide on a standard rink size. The team seemed out of energy at the end, St Cloud's did too, though. Lots of real playoff hockey coming, so it's not bad to get a loss of if the way prior to the elimination rounds. Good weekend overall. Go get that Cup next weekend!

Mine was buffering during first intermission, but not since. Feed is very good, though the commentators are annoying.

The legs aren't there yet. Not a lot of speed either way. Too much stick work from UND though.
