  1. The one time Rocco really had his head down this year and looked like he would get run over, he put 6'1 205 pound senior Sean Escobedo of BU right on his butt.
  2. I hope Grimaldi plays center this weekend. I really like his puck pursuit ability in both ends of the ice. I feel like he can be very effective defensively on the big ice with his tenacity down low.
  3. I really like the Top-9 tonight, each line has two very good players it. It should make for some very balanced scoring. Hopefully playing with Grimaldi and Mark MacMillan will spark O'Donnell, he needs to get it going.
  4. Sounds like Surrey is getting ready for a playoff run. Surrey is a first place team, Vernon a last place team.
  5. http://mnhockeycenter.com/view/mbhsh/video Watch Shane Gersich take on Mound-Westonka tonight.
  6. I agree, but I still really like Gaarder as a player. He is a hard-worker, smart, and has decent skill. He just doesn't have the speed or the size to be able to produce consistently at this level (right now). Its almost as if he has an identity crisis, he isn't physical/tenacious (due to his lack of speed) enough to be a good 4th liner, and he isn't skilled enough to be a Top-6 player, but he is still a very good college player. He is consistent, and always makes the smart, safe play. When Rocco is back, I think Gaarder will still be in the lineup, but I really have no idea who is going to sit.
  7. I just watched the Friday Holy Cross game for the first time. O'Donnell had a very good game, but once again had nothing to show for it. His passes are very good and he has surprisingly good vision and creativity. Where he is really struggling is scoring goals, he has some of the same issues that Kristo had early in his career. He holds the puck too long and either lets the goalie get into position or the shot is blocked by an opposing player. He has had so many open shots this year, he needs to bury a few to get the monkey off of his back. If we can get him to start scoring, our Top-9 will be very formidable.
  8. I think that is right. JT leaving when he did, left UND in a very tough place. You don't see fans dogging on Matteau as much as Miller, the coaching staff had over a year to replace Matteau, only a month for Miller.
  9. Hopefully doesn't rub the sweep in too much to Pietila on the plane ride. Come home after break, Parks will be an instant boost to our offense. Who knows, Mitch MacMillan might be a surprise too, if he pans out at all we could have three lines scoring on a consistent basis.
  10. If the third line can start producing consistently, this team is going to be extremely hard to beat. The talent and work-ethic is there, now they need to develop a little more chemistry and start producing.
  11. After his 4-point night, Corban Knight is now leading the WCHA in scoring. I don't know which Sioux player has been more underrated across the nation, Jason Gregoire or Corban Knight?
  12. Click on link that you quoted? Lol. I know I couldn't open the link on my smart phone, just on the computer.
  13. I don't want to start any injury rumors, but after I saw that Mattson was scratched last Saturday, I noticed him on the ice before warm-ups with a very large wrap of some sort around his knee. I'm not sure if he always wears this, or if he might be a little banged up. Panzarella did play great last weekend, so he deserves the playing time, I just didn't expect that the player coming out would be Mattson.
  14. Indeed, everything is so true in that article. I'm glad that other people will get to hear about what we get to experience every time we go to the Ralph, something special.
  15. I believe it would be a two weekend regional. The first weekend there would be series at 8 different locations, whoever is the higher seed in that game, that is where the game will be played. The next weekend, it will be down to 8 teams, it didn't specify in the article, but if they want to still have a Frozen Four, that would mean each team would play one game that second weekend to get down to 4 teams. They could probably due this at two different sites (East and West or something) or have one large "Super Regional" with all 4 games played over a period of two days. The only issue would be that fans of teams would travel only to see their team play once, which most people probably don't want to do, especially if it is half way across the country.
  16. http://www.undsports.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?id=1135787&db_oem_id=13500 New Through These Doors. The best part is at 4:15 when Forbort scores, DU's captain, Phillips I think, just freaks out and starts slamming his stick on the ice.
  17. I think having the first round at a home site is the only way to level the playing field. Western teams are at a disadvantage due to being so spread out. Take this year for example the regional sites are in Toledo, Providence, Grand Rapids, and Manchester. If UND is the #1 overall seed and gets placed in the Midwest region in Grand Rapids, which would be the closest regional, it is still located 900 miles away. For a fan from Grand Forks to attend these games, a flight is almost a necessity, its too far to drive for a weekend. This basically nullifies any advantage UND would have from being the top seed. Lets look at it the other way now. For example, if BU is the 16th seed this year, which should theoretically give them the least advantage of any team in the tournament. The furthest regional from Boston is 835 miles away, and two are within 60 miles. They could essentially be the worst team in the tournament and still play in front of a lot of their own fans. Eastern teams have a lot of advantages when it comes to regional placements. What is the closest possible regional to Grand Forks? St. Paul, which is still a 5 hour drive. Almost every eastern team will be within 2 hours drive of two regional sites, which basically guarantees that they will be placed in one of those two sites. The majority of western teams will have at the very least a long bus ride, sometimes even a flight to get to the closest regional site.
  18. I think that should be more than one game, interference, left his feet, contact to the head, a possibly elbow as well. I am surprised there hasn't been a bigger uproar about this hit. If a UND player does this, he gets crucified on the various message boards. Extremely dirty hit.
  19. Don't really what to expect from him, he has been injured for a substantial amount of the past few years. Is he slated to come in next year or the year after? I don't know much about him and haven't seen him play, but based on returning players and other recruits, I can't see him getting much playing time here. Especially since last year's freshman class and this years class have a large amount of players that should be 4 years guys.
  20. Media day today, should hear about it in the next few hours. I would expect he doesn't make the trip to Houghton.
  21. Gersich?
  22. All 3 Reilly brother's played there last year.
  23. A larger variety of concession stands, and the lines are generally a lot shorter.
  24. I agree, right now it is despressing. But 5-10 years down the line, who knows, maybe every Big Ten school has a hockey team, then without a doubt the realignment would have been a plus for college hockey. Time will only tell though.
  25. It is getting pretty annoying that people don't realize Minnesota had no choice in the realignment. It doesn't matter if they wanted to leave the WCHA or if the didn't, once the Big Ten started a hockey conference, as a member school, they had no choice but to "leave" the WCHA.
