For anyone that thinks Hakstol should be fired, just look at what is happening to Denver after Gwozdecky was fired. I guarantee something similar would happen to us. Everyone that was a flight risk would be gone, and a few of our recruits would be jumping ship as well.

Yes, he was once a projected 1st rounder, but I still think he will be drafted. Every current ranking that I have seen has him going anywhere in the 3-7 round range. I would be very surprised if he doesn't get drafted.

I agree, and if they were to go to Major Junior, they would have done long ago. I could be wrong but LaDue, Stecher, and Murphy all would be considered overagers in the CHL, and each team has a limit on those (just a handful per team, not sure on the exact number). If Tambellini was going to the WHL, he would have done so already, its not like he hasn't had many opportunities. His parents must really be in to the NCAA route, as his brother was a star at Michigan. It seems odd that the GM of the Edmonton Oilers would send (allow?) both of his kids to the NCAA rather than the WHL, but I'm not complaining.

Unless we have some unforeseen departures, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone decommit. Rowe or Voltin probably being the best chances.
-
Possibly a Brad Malone type player?
-
What year do you think he will come in?
-
I honestly think this is a good move for him. His role at the next level will be as a bottom-6 checker, he was forced out of necessity to play a Top-6 role at Wisconsin.

He decommitted yesterday.

I remember him saying that as well, but that was two years ago. Maybe (hopefully) his two years in Ann Arbor were enough time away from Greater Grand Forks.
-
As of now, he is still coming here. He got his rights selected in the OHL draft by the London Knights. The Knights have notoriously been very good at poaching NCAA committed players. That being said, now he is in the same boat as many of our other recruits, we have to hold our breathe until he is on campus.

I am optimistic about next year as well. Grimaldi is one of those special players, that no matter who he plays with, he generates chances. It doesn't matter if he plays with MacMillan, or Pattyn, he will generate chances. He is so individually dynamic, that he could play with 4th line players, yet that line would still be a scoring threat. I think he should center two freshman next year, which will help jump start their transition to the NCAA.

I just glanced at our roster right now and one thing really stood out to me, besides Panzarella, none of our defenseman are physical at all. If Panzarella doesn't play, we will have the 6 d-men playing: Simpson, Mattson, Schmaltz, LaDue, Stecher, and Thompson. Seriously, besides Simpson and Schmaltz, who is going to penalty kill? This team is going to lack a lot of sandpaper at the defensive position next year.

The Montreal beat writer said that Kristo and Peter Holland (?) were the first two call ups, with the slight edge to Kristo.

Since he was drafted so late (5th round), I am hoping we are safe. He has already committed to the NTDP, and those commitments are pretty hard to get out of. From what I have heard/read, he would have been picked early in the first round if he wouldn't have committed to the NTDP.

By the looks of it that list is based purely on statistics, with a lot of weight placed on goalie stats.
-
OK, I wasn't sure if Rau was a flight risk at all.
-
Who was listed as "most likely to leave who isn't named Bjugstad, Haula, Budish, Schmidt, or Alt."?
-
I thought Ausmus was a 2014 recruit for DU?
-
Bjugstad, Haula, and Schmidt were pretty much givens to leave early. Budish was a possibility. You have to admit Alt is somewhat of a surprise early departure.
-
He must have a connecting flight through Hamilton before he goes to Wheeling. There is no way he is good enough to step right into the AHL.
-
Now just waiting for Knight (and Forbort?) in terms of NHL contracts. Gleason and Rowney for possible NHL contracts, more like AHL or ECHL, imo.

I agree with him not being strong enough, but if he isn't fast enough, then really nobody is.
