  1. Just to add to that I sure Blaiser will remember Dahl leaving his top Power Play line in when UND got drilled by SCSU earlier this year... I actually think UND can still make the tourney as a 12 seed.
  2. SCOTT You bring up more good points. I think it is funny that everybody has kicked UND while we are down. Some of these people are newbies that have jumped ship during a great time. SCSU is probably more guilty of this than UofM, but a few of them have forgotten what has happened the last couple of years. A lot of them have slug mud and their program hasn't ever accomplished anything other than winning a final five banner which is now haning from the rafter of the concrete center. Now they have the odacity to call our team crappy.
  3. Scott Said... Scott you said some nice things here, I agree, very well put, if UofM team is cocky as their fans (Many who I think are great people) UND could just get a few wins. I really feel good about our chances after last weekends wins. I think Hauser is very beatable, in fact I watched both there games this past weekend, and think if UND can get to Hauser early he can be his biggest enemy. Now if we can only keep Andy off the ice and go with the two new goalies we will be fine. I also don't want to see UND go into a shell if we get the lead. Attack, Attack that is the key to victory and don't take any stupid penalties we can't kill off...

Who was the back up goalie tonight?
  6. Hiedi Sioux, David Lunbohm didn't dress in either game this weekend. I bet we could have used him though...

  8. Sioux Win, Sioux Win, Sioux Win... Boy I am impressed, I think the guys can feed off of this and put together a run in the second half... Siembida I think will make a impact on how we do this the rest of the season.
  9. Just checked out the box score on the game and James Massen got two more assist to bring his season point total to 5, however, that 5 points in 3 games. Maybe James has arrived.
  10. Tim Okeefee said that Josh Siembida is supposed to start tomorrow night. Should be a good game I hope. I would really like to see the New Goalie do well tomorrow night. Good win for the Fighting Sioux tonight as they win 5-4 in over time.
  11. Sioux Win, Sioux Win, SIOOOOOOOUUXXX WIN, with a goal by David Hale (2nd Goal of the season) in over-time. I believe this is Blaiser's first win over the Wolverines since he took over the helm at UND. Big win for the boys tonight, now on hopefully to play Ryan Miller and the Michigan State Spartans. CHARACTER WIN TONIGHT... I hope this is the begining of some good things to come in the future... Brandt plays ok stopping about 90% of the shots he faced... 12. Yeah that is kind of what I mean. I played Football so Hockey though I love the sport and is my favorite sport I might not always know all of the defensive schemes/terminology. When I watch hockey I am more interested in the one on one battles and the fights... Hence the name goon...
  13. Actually Blais said that he would never resort to the-Trap (a full blown Neutral Zone Trap), Yuck. Actually last year during the playoff the Sioux actually played a quazi-trap. Left Wing high is like one correct terms actually, all to me it really means is line up at the Blue line and send only one forchecker into the offensive zone. The trap is boring to watch but it actually takes a lot of talent to pull off a good system... The WWF style of hockey that Wisconsin plays is because they are too damb slow and untalented to keep up with teams like UND, SCCC, C.C., UofMinnesota. SCCC used to play that type of hockey too before their current crop of talented forwards and defense. That type of hockey works if you have a good goalie or a hot goalie. 14. ScottM brings up some good points. It appears that maybe James Massen might have finally arrived as I believe that he had three points in the last series. I think he could make a huge contribution if he could get his game going. I haven't give up hope yet... I believe that the Sioux need to split with the Gophers, and C.C. to make a serious run for the top 4 spots in the league. Anything to avoid the Thursday play in game at the Excel center...

I found this on the Waterlooblackhawks.com Siembeda Commits Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL) goaltender Josh Siembeda made up his mind last night, committing to the University of North Dakota. Siembeda is going through the enrollment process right now. We're told that if all goes well with admissions, the goaltender should be in uniform when the Fighting Sioux hit the ice for the Great Lakes Invitational Dec. 28-29 in Detroit. If the admissions process gets bogged down over the holidays, Siembeda will be in uniform when UND travels to Minnesota Jan. 5-6. The five schools Siembeda visited were: North Dakota, Boston University, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Colorado College. In 21 games with Waterloo, the last place team in its division, Siembeda has a 2.81 gaa, but a .918 save percentage. Among goaltenders who've appeared in 15 or more games, Siembeda is third in save percentage, trailing only Cedar Rapids' Bobby Goepfert (.942), and Omaha's Marty Magers (.919). Siembeda, who's from Porcupine, Ontario, which is way north, just a few kilometers east of Timmins, is a 3/14/83 birthdate who's 5'10" and 170 lbs. at best. He's very good fundamentally, plus he's athletic, quick, and exciting to watch. He has a good glove, handles the puck well enough, communicates nicely with his defensemen, has very good anticipation, and great competitiveness. In early October, Siembeda came to Waterloo from the Espanola Screaming Eagles of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League. The Screaming Eagles, who got cash in return, sent him to the USHL simply because the goaltender expressed a wish to go there in order to be seen by more colleges. (Espanola, a town of about 5,000 two-thirds of the way along Route 17 between the Soo and Sudbury, is a bit off the beaten track.) Right now, the two primary goaltenders at North Dakota are senior Andy Kollar, who's played 13 games, but is having an off-year; and freshman Jake Brandt, who's played six, and looked shaky until this past weekend, when he stopped 51 of 54 shots in a pair of wins over St. Lawrence. 17. Dagies I seen that too, however, who knows that could change too...
  18. I agree Dagies the guy from Wisconsin I am sure were talking about Joey V is clueless, he knows nothing about obejectivity especially when it comes to hockey. When listening to the UND and UW broadcast and if Tim Hennessy said it was a dirty hit, I believe that hit had to be dirty. Then my buddy watched the game on FSN Wisconsin said the replay of the hit look like a blatant knee check and that it was an attempt to injury... Lundbohm. I like how JOEVY V always tries to say oh Wisconsin is not untalented and slow, and they goes on ussually to attack Blaiser as being a whinner. In fact this year it appears they have too players that Leavit and the goal tender Druckler or what ever the #### his name is... I remember when I had commented on UofW being a one line wounder when they had Heatley, Hukalo, Renio back in 2000, then I actually was right in which this turned out to be true.

Philly, Has the signing of the new goalie been in the Waterloo news papers, I have been checking all over the internet and I have not seen this confirmed anywhere.
  21. Last Weekend I was in Bemidji and St Clown for the BSU and SCSU series and I was talking to one of my buddies (who does TV for Bemidji State University Hockey on Charter Communications) about UND goal tending woes. I had told him UND should stick a fork in Andy he is done. I told him about Andy's lack of fortune and possible vision problems. You know how he had played and Yadda, Yadda, the whole nine yards and the 200 foot soft goals the whole nine yards, blown leads, bad defense. Scott turns to me and says Goon, Andy will be back one day he will show up to the rink and play just like he had during the 2000 final five, right now his confidence is shaken and needs to just get his head in the game. I have another suggestion think about hockey and get out of the edge. Which brings up another issue. If this new goalie comes which I cant find any credible to back this claim up and Brandt keeps playing well could this be the end of Andy? If the Sioux get on a roll which I think they might do we risk it. Do we play the Young goaltenders and let Andy gracefully stroll off into the edge of the night? Or do we keep coming back to Andy, personally I say not. We need to get ready for next season becaue I doubt the Playoffs are going to be a possibility this season. Actually I wounder what is going to happen next season when we have three goalies that could all be really good. Brandt Seindieve, Siemdiea. I sure that Sofie will be asked not to return... Ok, so I have been looking for this to be posted somewhere else, even put in the newspaper but I find it no where. Looked at the Waterlou site and it was not there either. SO who gets cut? I say give Sofie the hook now, gone see you thanks for coming I heard Lafranz got cut again? I mean really there has to be something wrong with this kid if Blais keeps doing that, off the ice problems, personal issues? Could it be academics or something else we don't know about.

    New Goalie

I am still woundering about the kid from Grand Forks. Nate Ziegleman sounds like he is really good... Is this just some stupid rumor?
  24. Goon

    New Goalie

Hey Dagies, This guys sounds like the coaches thought this guy was going to commit then did not. I just hope we are not on a sinking ship no one wants to be a part of. I hope he does commit to us, but who would want to lose 1/2 a year of elgibility to maybe get to play a few years. But if he is good he would probably get to play. So does that mean that ANDY is out of the mix. I don't understand what the heck we are doing? So if the new recruit comes to UND do we cut Sofie and what do we do with Lafranz sounds like he might not stick around. May go to UNO. But looking at some of the teams that are also interested in him I think we have a chance of signing him. MSU has Miller and he is an all-American. I believe that Miller is there fo one more year. Doesn't C.C. already has a few goalies? BU, they always have two solid goalies. So why can't we get two or three solid goalies I would tend to think that our arena would be an attractive option for a kid...
  25. Is there any credibility to this post... Maybe Dock Nodak or Dagies can shed some light on this, they seem to have more information than others. (Edited by Goon at 11:05 am on Dec. 10, 2001)
