Actually I can probably tell you my theory on why racing is so popular. Its appeal to fans is second to none. The drivers for the most part are down to earth guys, with an exception a few that fill in nicely as the villians. Kurt Busch comes to mind this season, with some of his antics. Auto racing is an awesome sport, because its wide open, they are driving an automobile 190-200 miles an hour, its an endurance and a grueling sport. Before someone says that its not a sport they don't know what they are talkin about, trust me the drivers are athletes. NASCAR is often unfairly maligned for being a sport for uninformed rednecks or that its for unsophisticated toothless inbread people, blah, blah, blah, the same old stuff. However, it is far from it. Auto racing is a very technical sport, Winston Cup teams spend thousands if not millions of dollars on figuring out the winning combination, in the wind tunnell and also on the race track. Its a billion dollar busniess. Also if your ever board and its snowing outside check out a race, its fun to watch. Up here in Grand Forks there are no NASCAR tracks but I do manage to watch quite a bit of it on Television... I do some day plan to go to a NASCAR race some where. Also, the past two season I was in a NASCAR fantasy league. Yikes...

I guess I wouldn't have it any other way.

LOL Careful with the NASCAR/good ole boy stereotypes. I not sure I am much different than a country boy from the south. I love NASCAR and World of Outlaws racing circuts, I hunt Deer, Ducks Pheasants, Grouse and there is probably a box of lose shot gun shells in my blazer. And today I found a streak of deer blood on my blazer that Valley Dairy Car Wash forgot to clean off.

Thats why I hope UND can keep him, I hear that this the last season on Lenon's contract. Anyone heard what Dale is going to do. It would be a shame to lose him as coach.

In football UND has won 10/13 in games against the Bison, hum now they have to move up to Divison one AA so they don't get beat by UND in football anymore but want they want to to keep playing us on uneven terms, if you can't win on even terms lets have more scholarships. Oh by the way while we are on the subject of Divison one hockey are rivals Minnesota (UND has won 3 of the last 4 against them) and Wisconsin (UND has beaten them 4 straight) they are behind UND in the title chase. 7>5...

Hunstville isn't that the team that the UofM Gophers used to pad their stats and then tried to claim that they were a better team than Canisus and Brown, I am tracking you. To touch on what the original post claimed if UND wouldn't have fumbled and turned the ball over 5+ times in the Mesa State game this discussion might have been mute.

No kidding I would love to see UNA come to UND and have to play in the old Memorial Stadium. That would be fun to see... Can we condem the Alerius and re-open our old stadium.

I agree Michigan is not that good of a team this season, I am sure they will find a way to get it going at the end of the season. Michigan had trouble cycling the puck out of their own end, however they are a better team than their cross state rival MSU. I am going to get flamed but, who cares, I was not that impressed with the Gophers this past weekend either, at the blue line I wouldn't trade any our new players for any of the Gopher players. Vanek a good player does nothing to get the puck out his own end, he just floats around waiting for someone to pass him the puck. I have to say that he is one of the most one dimensional superstars I have ever seen. ON the rookies I'd take Smaby over Taylor anyday. Taylor at crucial moments has the common sense of a hand ball. Although Minnesota is loaded and has a lot of offensive guns, the top guns for UofM have not used all of their bullets as of yet. Frankly Wisconsin scares me more than Minnesota. Finally at goalie how in the heck does Woog think UND is weak at goaltending? Of all the goalies this past weekend in the hockey show case I believe not one of the teams had a a better GAA than Minnesota...

This is comical: Do people realize that UofM lost 7 games already, UND lost 12 and got tough first round game in the regionals. No doubt that Minnesota has a hard road ahead of them... Right now they are at the bottom of the WCHA, in jepordy of losing a first round WCHA home series. Anyone worried I am not... I still think UND takes 2-4 points from the Gophers in January. I wonder if this kid is going to strap on the skates and play for the goofers...

Hey Dig, To take it even further he basically said that UND great goaltending numbers were a result of the monsters that UND has on defense, so is Doug against having Big Defensemen now too. Ok, I just don't get it. UND has way better goaltenders than UofM and they some how are trying to say that UND is unproven and has shaky goaltending. UND is second or third in the league in goals against. Come on Doug...

I wonder if MSU still wants Josh, Vicari seem like a pretty good goalie.

One of the only things I like about NJ is that they do not rush their young players to the NHL they get brought in slowly. I am sure they will do that with Zach. Flat spin is right Boston used to own NJ now its the other way around. I remember going to game 7 at the Boston Garden and watching the B's lay the woods to the Dirt Devils now if Boston is in a series with NJ I pretty much expect the Devils to beat the Bruins. I tolerate them now but I hated them when they had the dirty Turtle Claud Lepew on their team. I loved watching Cam Neely try to drive Claud's head through the boards one time after Claud cheaped Cam.

I would tell any nay sayer that knock our teams that our lucky exposed team went further than anyone else in the midwest region. Just like in hockey I have always said that a goal is a goal, hell id take 100 chessy, lucky no skill goals over ten pretty ones any days. Same with football. Even when UND was down I knew they would come back they have done it all season. Why not today. I would go as far to say if UND played WSU 10 times they would win 9 games. The defense needs to play good next weekend or we are going to be in trouble though...

Thats awesome. I am actually shocked that its not going to be in Florence though.
