If there was room for 4 stars I’d include Gaber

One major difference is that going in to the Cornel series Driscoll knew he was starting and Hellsten knew he was not! Both now know that a start one night does not mean a finish or a start the second. They are pushing each other for ice time now as it should be. Also, we need both of them for the HCHC tourney and beyond. I honestly feel equally comfortable with either and agree that a rotation of some sort would be best.

I agree that DU is in the drivers seat. The Clowns (they still have plenty of firepower) are hurt more by the Olympics than the Dogs, and playing either team is more difficult than playing Miami, CC or Opieha. Miami (I watched part of their games last weekend waiting for the Sioux) gave DU a battle and came within a whisker of stealing game one! You failed to mention Western who has the skill and ability to sweep DU, I may be wrong but I think that series is at the ZOO. No question about it, DU should win the first seed in the NCHC.

Hopefully the NCHC will get 5 teams at the show, Omaha, CC or Miami would likely need to win the NCHC tourney to advance. So much to factor in with Olympic temporary departures and Covid, but I, like most of you, like our chances better now than a week ago: The remaining schedule favors UND To maintain a top 3 spot in the league. No game is easy but we play Duluth, Western (only 2 top five) and then Omaha twice(4 games) and CC. Denver plays 3 of their remaining series against the top five (SC, Western and Duluth) and then Omaha and CC. Western also plays 3 of their remaining against top five (SC, Denver and UND) and then CC and Miami. Duluth plays 4 of their remaining series agains top five (SC twice, Denver and UND) and then Miami. St Cloud (need to make up 2 games) also play 4 of their remaining agains top five (Denver, Western, and Duluth twice) and Omaha and CC. Plus 12 games in 28 days. Omaha, CC and Miami are not mathematically out of it, but they would have to step on the gas big time to improve their bottom 3 spots.

Glad Hellsten is going again tonight. With the players we have available this is our best line up, they showed it last night. Let’s get another please!

Not sure why no arm went up at the time but when my wife and i saw the hit along the boards we both said “why wasn’t that called?” THen when play stopped we thought the review was for something that happened near the dislodged net. We too were thinking that they could only review a penalty call for a major. If someone has an answer to this it would be good to hear. Also not experts.

Western is way different than the Clowns, The two games at Kalamazoo were well played and tight both ways by both teams. We played very respectably against western, cant say that was a bad series. I’ll say again, Cornell was an embarrassment. St Clown plays race horse and we apparently were ready for them, Berry and crew were prepared, hopefully they can come up with something tomorrow,

Is Alex back tomorrow so this joker can go back to calling a chess match?
-
We shouldn’t but can’t, because they are all black and we are at home
-
Both ways though!
-
Stick a fork in them
-
He doesn’t when Alex is there, the idiot he’s working with doesn’t know the game so if Jake wasn’t talking it would be quiet!
-
Nice
-
Kind of weak, but I like to hear his small town home boy hockey knowledge
-
Who made them turn it over? Did they decide to just turn one over?
-
Yeah nice call
-
4th line
-
I don’t think that bozo knows what to say. Jake knows hockey and personally i like what he says, much better than most of the other NCHC feeds.
-
I don’t know but what is that lines plus/minus?
-
Who would you play?

My spell check worked GFH’s didn’t, what’s LAMBGASTED mean?

What’s lambasted mean?

2021-22 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

I predict we go 7-5 or 8-4 from here on out. We’ll split with the Clowns and Western at home (our home), we’ll sweep CC and Omaha and we’ll either split or sweep with Omaha on the road. The reason I say this is because I think the coaches have finally come to the conclusion that Helsten is our goalie for the future. He is the only logical choice. If they were both equal (I don’t think they are but if they were) why play a guy who won’t be around next year when we have a guy who will be? Driscoll has been ripped very hard by us fans (and some opponents), he is a good goalie but not an elite goalie like most of the other teams in the NCHC have. The Beavers made his stats good before we got him because of the defensive style of game they play. We do not know if Helsten will be elite, we will only know if we give him every opportunity to improve and gain experience in this league. Hopefully he’ll be the winning difference a couple times this year but it will be game experience for next year if he isn’t. The losses to Cornel were embarrassing. The losses to Western, were not. They were two very well played games against an exceptional team playing at their barn, a very hostile place for visiting teams. I’ll also predict that Western is a frozen four team in April! We’re not as good of a team as we hopeD we would be, but we’re also not as bad as some of us make us appear to be either.
