  1. If somebody knows the WCHA tiebreakers and in what order they go in, please post them. It could become very relevant for us in about 24 hours.
  2. Sioux hang on for a 3-3 overtime tie. Lamoreaux gave us that tie with his save at the end of regulation. Gotta go for 3 out of 4 tomorrow night.
  3. Penalty on Sioux. Now we'll be lucky to get one point.
  4. 1:32 and counting.
  5. I HATE the shootout. The NHL had better not use the shootout in playoff games....ever!
  6. Almost as ugly as his goaltending skills.
  7. Come on, Sioux, let's get a goal and get out of here with a win.
  8. Lamoreaux saves our butt as regulation time expires. We go to overtime, tied at 3. Biggest overtime of the season coming up.
  9. I think they won it during the flood year (1997) and I think they won it again later on, but I am not sure what year it was.
  10. DaveK, You have a lot of nerve talking about an "attitude of entitlement" from Grand Forks fans. Fargo South seems to have an attitude of entitlement in every sport. The Grand Forks schools (except for Central this year) are very good in hockey. Fargo schools are very good in football. Bismarck and Minot seem to have the best basketball in the state. Hockey has become much more competitive in North Dakota and that's good. It is not good for the sport to have one school win the title every year (Central won the first 13 state titles). There are more programs and more kids participating. And I am glad Fargo is finally starting to take hockey seriously by building a new arena complex. But I get sick and tired of Fargo South fans coming on this forum and talking like their hockey program is the greatest thing since sliced bread and that no one else is even close (I know I am paraphrasing, but that is the tone of the comments). South has won three state titles total (1994, 1999 and 2006) and finished runner-up several other times. Grand Forks Red River, by comparison (which opened around the same time as FSH), just finished winning their 13th State Championship. South has a long way to go to match the tradition of Grand Forks Red River (or Central for that matter). Yes, FSH has built a good program and they deserve credit for that. But that doesn't mean the sport revolves around FSH. I enjoy it when the Bruins lose and I am not sorry to admit it. End rant.
  11. I believe that GFC won the 2005 State Football Championship over "The Best High School in North Dakota" and I think 39-29 was the final score. I have that game on videotape and I will never erase it. And it couldn't have happened to a better person than Mike Berg. The Knights were down in 2006, but I think they will be back in 2007. Red River is very competitive in tennis, volleyball and golf. Central has had some very good track teams and has had some good wrestling teams over the years. I think Central has also won State Championships in boy's soccer. Basketball has always been somewhat weak in Grand Forks for both schools; the West Region seems to dominate in both boys and girls (Mandan has won the last four state girls titles). But I remember the 1995 State boy's basketball title that GFC won over an unbeaten Minot team (led by Brooks Bollinger, among others). Red River also had some very good girls basketball teams in the early 1990's. Yes, South has a lot of good athletes and they work as hard as anyone else to win. My problem with FSH fans is that they think athletics in this state revolves around them and it's a tiresome attitude if you aren't a Bruins fan. It isn't an anti-Fargo thing (I have no problem with Fargo North, Fargo Shanley or West Fargo); it's this whole "We're the best High School in North Dakota" attitude. There are a lot of schools that have a lot of proud traditions in different sports (GFC and GFRR in hockey, Mandan in girls basketball, Fargo South in football, etc.). But you wouldn't know it by listening to Bruins fans. On Friday night, I was cheering for Grafton-PR against Fargo South. And I have never liked the Spoilers. Ever. That should tell you my feelings towards Fargo South High School. End rant.
  12. A lot of fans of other schools across the state would disagree with that, especially when it comes to basketball.
  13. Sioux get outshot 28-20, but win 3-0. Now, it's on to St. Cloud with third place still up for grabs.
  14. I agree, so much for "The Best High School in North Dakota". Congrats to Red River, bringing the title back to Grand Forks where it belongs!
  15. You shouldn't have "loafers" on a team this late in the season. That is troubling to me. Everything is on the line this weekend and next and we have to "light a fire" under someone? It's put up or shut up time for every team in this league and I don't want our boys to be quiet.
  16. You are talking like our freshman class won't contribute at all. We have a good group of freshmen coming in next year and they probably will get better as the season goes on. Also, other teams in the league will lose underclassmen as well, even the "phenom-filled" Rodents. Listening to Wooger talk about how the Rodents might keep all their underclassmen for next year during the Sioux-Gopher series was laughable. Next year won't be as bad as you think. But enough about next year, we are still in it this year. Go Sioux!!!
  17. I think that if we can get into the Final Five and win two out of three games (second or third place finish), we'll have a chance of making the NCAA tournament as a low seed. That being said, I don't want to cut it too close.
  18. If we lose again tomorrow, we can kiss not only 3rd place goodbye, but maybe home ice as well. St. Cloud is going to be tough to beat next week on their home ice and the Badgers are still lurking within striking distance. If we can split this weekend and next, we'll be in good shape. Otherwise, all season ticket holders will get a refund on their first-round tickets.
  19. Your team once again lost to a good team (no more Wayne State's and Ohio State's left on the schedule, by the way) and you have the nerve to come on this forum and rub our noses in a tough OT loss? Get lost, troll!!!
  20. redwing77, If you would have actually read all of my post, I said I was wrong about Parise and I could be wrong about Grieco. I hope I am wrong about Grieco. It does this program no good to have a sieve on the roster. Grieco could turn into an all-WCHA goaltender, given time. But the point I was making earlier (and will make again and again and again), is that Grieco is nothing special right now and until he shows us something, I don't trust him in goal. The two games Grieco won in Mankato had little to do with him and a lot to do with our offense. He got the hook in Anchorage in one of our two losses up there. Based on this evidence, the idea of him taking us to St. Louis is pure wishful thinking. We had better hope that Lamoreaux doesn't get hurt again, or I don't think we can make it to St. Louis (It's going to be a tough road as it is). I don't expect a freshman to be perfect in goal (or any other position for that matter), but they should show us something (like Schweitzer did in 1996-97) to get excited about before we call for a goalie change.
  21. I don't think anyone wants to bestow sainthood on him. I think some of us question why "St. Phil" gets blamed for everything bad that happens to this team, while Anthony Greico (who is nothing special at this point in his career) gets a free ride from some people on this forum. People talk about Greico taking us to St. Louis; I think Greico has a better chance of being the next Josh Sievebieda than the next Aaron Schweitzer. Of course, I used to think Jordan Parise was average at best, so I could be wrong about Greico. But I have a feeling that I am not. Bottom line, with Parise earning paychecks, Lamoreaux is our best bet to win and make a playoff run.
  22. True, but the longer your team goes without a championship, the less impact '85 will have. It's like our hockey team: We have 7 NCAA titles, but none since 2000. The longer we go without winning one, the less impact our previous 7 titles have on the program. The chant "Yours are dusty" will be heard by fans of other teams (especially the Rodents. ).
  23. Ever since the Janet Jackson "Wardrobe Malfunction" and subsequent FCC crackdown, advertisers have been hesitant to push the envelope on commercials. Everything is milktoast, milktoast, milktoast!!! Save milktoast for daytime television, this is the Super Bowl for Pete's Sake! Thank you FCC, for ruining a great American tradition!
  24. Sorry Sioux-cia, but nobody remembers who makes the Super Bowl and loses. I don't even want my Vikings to get back to the Super Bowl unless they are going to win. Maybe it's shallow thinking, but in our society, winning it all is all that matters to most people when it comes to sports. I still hate thinking about the 2001 and 2005 NCAA Hockey Championship games or the 2003 D-II Football Championship game. That being said, accept my condolences. It's never fun to finish Runner-Up.
  25. cujo2, You are right; our non-conference schedule is not that strong this year. I hope we get back to playing good teams like Boston College, Boston University and New Hampshire like we have in the past. I was just responding to the assertion that the Gophers have a strong schedule; a statement that I do not agree with. Of course, all of this will come out in the wash in March and April and that is what matters.
