I think they run out of gas, they come out strong and fade at the end when it counts.
They won the Penrose and the Natty in 2016, so I am not buying that. Maybe the let-down after the high of winning the Penrose was bigger than we expected?
The 2016 team played poorly at the Frozen Faceoff in Minneapolis, but rolled from there.
The 1997 team suffered an embarrassing sweep at Denver that prevented them from winning the McNaughton Cup outright. We all know what happened after that.
The 2000 team went to 3 games vs. Denver in the first round and never lost a game after that.
I really hope they haven't screwed themselves out of being placed in Sioux Falls, because I am hoping to see them in person for all their NCAA games. Whatever happens, I will support this team throughout their journey.

I've been saying this all year. This year has to be the most pathetic year I've seen at UND as far as band , cheerleaders, school spirit and student engagement. Not to mention the horrible changes the Betty made during the off season that were to have made a better experience. Whoevers idea it was needs to be fired. So disappointed in the university. I wonder what Andy thinks about it ?
Martinson is being groomed to take over when Chaves retires. God help us if that happens. It is time President Armacost shows some leadership in this area, because nothing will happen without that.

If Sather can hang onto his young core, they could make big strides next season.

UND 2 - Miami 0
DU 2 - UMD 0
CC 2 - UNO 0
WMU 2 - SCSU 1
So it is written, so it shall be done.
That WMU vs. SCSU match up will be one to watch.

Leadership and luck, not necessarily in that order.
Enough about luck. Ralph Engelstad told us that "The harder I work, the luckier I get."
Luck is a sorry excuse of an alibi. This athletic department is being run like a high school. That isn't "bad luck", that's a conscious choice.

I’m pretty disappointed in the effort UND champions club has put into getting more fans engaged in this tournament and making sure they are informed. I’ve received at least 3 well done communications from NDSU with schedule information and how to purchase tournament tickets and my only connection to them was I bought some basketball tickets online when there were some good games in Fargo. Meanwhile I’m decently high up in the champions club.. I’ve had season football tickets for at least a decade.. and yet it’s crickets with respect to any correspondence on the summit league tournament in a year that the basketball team has some serious promise. UND continues to hammer home the point that they don’t care much about athletics or even put in a pretty basic effort unless it’s a couple ounces of frozen rubber.
But Chaves has a regular podcast, so we shouldn't complain about anything ever.

Good to know we are plus 3 on TE's going into 2024.....since they are the key to our offense.

I'm hopeful that Schiller brings a winning attitude to the locker room. I can see her helping turn things around, or hitting the portal within a year. Team didn't seem to develop at all, which is very concerning. another sub 10 win season and I think you have to look hard at a coaching change.
Don't count on it. Because at UND, it's all about "the student-athlete experience". #justlikehighschool

I guess Chaves finally did enough contemplating and surveying of the landscape.

Mallory Bernhard would probably get a multi-year contract extension if the team somehow wins 20+ games, that's how screwed up this athletic department is. But I don't see that happening.
I predict 5 wins at most, with a last place finish in the Summit. And it still won't be enough to persuade Chaves to make a change at the top.

Even if the REA contract was better, we still wouldn't have the accountability, expectations and standards needed at the top to win at a high level across the board.

SDSU wins natty in football and has both BB teams favored to go to The Dance. What do they have that UND does not?
A Commitment to Excellence. UND seems to have a Commitment to Excrement.

That’s still the message. Anything less than a sweep is unacceptable. Get it done.
Amen. What I don't want to hear from Hennessey this weekend is how "outstanding" Miami's goaltender is playing or how Miami is playing a great road game. Miami would struggle to earn home ice in the AHA and should be dispatched in two games. No Excuses.

UND will take the series in 2 providing they don't lose the zone on a 5×3 PP because the puck went under someone's freaking skate.

CC in 2

The Vikings can no longer ignore the QB position. They must trade up in the draft to get a franchise QB. No more "competitive rebuild" baloney. And no using their first round pick on a corner. In today's NFL, if you don't have a QB, you don't have a team.

I'll bet und had more scoring chances than Omaha when the score was 0-3. You can watch the game or the scoreboard. I'm talking about the game.
So if we lose to Miami next week, it won't be their fault either?

Again, not popular, but UND has played fine tonight. Had the better of the chances, but it's hockey and it has not been kind, as it wasn't for WMU last Friday. I was more concerned with last night. But UND is clearly not in the same ballpark as the beanpot schools right now, or MN or MI or a few others.
Falling behind 3-0 is your idea of playing "fine"?
And we beat the Goofs and BU this year, so we are in the same "ballpark" as them.

I can 100% guarantee that not a single player or coach is worried about either of those things.
But don't let that stop your rant. The team can stop all the rants by playing with some energy and urgency.

We really don’t have any jump, can’t seem to get out of our own way. Guys are bunching up and just not playing smart. Really tough to watch this weekend again. I hate to say it but we are trending in the wrong direction. I hope we can get it figured out.
Watch out, someone might call you a "ledgie".
Sigh....The Vikings.....

Now that Cousins has signed with the Falcons, the Vikings should do whatever it takes to get that #1 overall pick from Chicago. The Bears are probably going to stick with Fields at QB, so trading the #1 pick would give them loads of extra draft capital. The Vikings would have the pick of any QB they want. Get that franchise QB and build around him. In today's NFL, if you don't have a QB, you don't have a team. Period. #timetogetserious
