Agreed, this will be tough. So much of this is mental preparation and fortitude. Maybe have Dale Lennon speak to the team again? All I can say is if the same team we saw on Saturday shows up mentally the same way in Cedar Falls, IA, then UND will be in good shape. But, we all know UND football has been different (in not a good way) outside of the Alerus Center.

Well, we are now at this point. Move forward, ride the momentum. Go 1-0 each week. Beat UNI. Go Hawks!

Sun is shining, vibrant fall colors, even the coffee tastes better. We did it. The evil Empire is finally dead. Kudos to Bubba and staff and players; run with the momentum, and build this thing up. Win next week. We rightfully again own the state of North Dakota. Been 15+ years. Capture those recruiting battles with this new positioning and let’s win a damn championship.

Yeah, there is beer and food available, but best to bring your own supply. This is one game where the amount of tailgaters will likely out supply the vendors.

I don’t agree. South Dakota State is not Alabama or Georgia. How many NFL players you think SDSU has? You’re exaggerating SDSU’s ability a bit in order to justify UND’s road woes. Coaching is not just strategy in terms of play calling; it’s adjustments in tough moments and preparing the players (physically AND mentally) to execute at the highest level by conditioning them to be at their best when their best is required.

What makes a player/ recruit good? What makes a player / recruit bad? A lot goes in to this, including how the players develop after you get their commitment. Guys like Nick Saban recruit damn good players but they also develop the hell out of them. UND could recruit AND develop their players better, and that falls on coaching. Talk about execution, what do you think gets the good teams to consistently execute and the bad teams to not? ok, ok, I digress.

I don’t agree. Lots of angles to this incredibly hypothetical scenario, but I won’t derail this thread by going into all of it (again).

Don’t think will help unless we let Kalen DeBoer know we screwed up and ask that he take the next flight from Seattle out to Grand Forks to help out on Saturday. But he’s too busy being featured on ESPN College GameDay this weekend to do that probably. ok, ok, ok enough living in the past. i am worried about this game being it’s a big game. UND leadership under Bubba historically been poor in these games. Need to change the trend eventually … hopefully it’s this Saturday

I’m still very concerned for serious heartbreak in this one. Hype in the building for this game means UND will likely come out hot and ready to go (see 2021 NDSU and 2022 SDSU games) but I worry that this NDSU staff will outcoach Bubba in the 4th quarter (again) and let us all down … again. Don’t forget, this NDSU staff has won a championship, they aren’t idiots…(at least all of them aren’t).

Not an issue for the ND flagship (UND) .….own the farm congrats to Dale and the 2003 team being inducted to the Hall of Fame last night. I still wish Dale was on the sideline for us. He simply had the “it” factor for UND football that our current staff doesn’t have and needs. hopefully his presence along with Roger Thomas’ presence on Saturday gets us over the hump.

Likely budget issues, based on coaching salary deficiencies. If you donate to UND athletics, specify UND football or else administration will funnel it to you know what.

Helmets are A+. Rest of uniform is C-. Get throwback green jerseys and grey or white pants and make them full time uniforms. Missed opportunity on this weekend not having throwback green jerseys / pants.

UND hasn’t been able to pitch to recruits that they’re the best football program in the state for over 15 years. That has hurt. Many ND and MN recruits have bypassed UND for ag school football during that span, and then gone on to win championships for the ag school. If UND can start to win head-to-head matchups against the ag school, that will change, and, as history has shown time and time again, the tide will turn for UND football. UND will ascend into a title contender.

Crowd wasn’t that hectic @ Boise. Game in SDSU this year and games in the past in Fargodome are way louder when UND on offense. Boise State game outcome was UND just pissing themselves and being a mental mess because the coaching staff failed to prepare them to win a “big bad” FBS game. UND hasn’t shown they have the balls (my apologies to any sensitive ears on here) to beat the big boys yet, especially this season, but the NDSU game being in Grand Forks / Alerus Center where UND plays well is the only hope.

To be honest, if Bubba does this, UND might lose by 50.

I fear Cam Miller throws for over 300 yards and 4 touchdowns with this now, but, well, I agree UND has to stop the run.

NDSU never been able to afford that, and UND hasn’t held that ranking for over 15 years …. The #1 team in ND ranking is up for grabs (again) and that needs to be the main priority come Saturday. Get that ranking and bring it back to UND for the first time over 15 years …

Fans have to “think” about going to games on Saturdays, and want to go, so you may be in fact the one talking in circles. Fans’ perspective matters, and this implied idea of alienating fans so our “poor under-appreciated” coaches can operate in a protected bubble is silly. Anyways, Saturday will be a fun atmosphere because it’s always the biggest football game of the year in the state of North Dakota. Hopefully UND - somehow, under some miracle - finds a way to show up big time.

Need better players. Hopefully new facilities will help. Biggest issue now is Bubba and his coaches don’t have the “it” factor. No confidence exuded. Not good enough leaders for championship caliber football. New buildings won’t fix that. UND’s administration (looking at you, Chaves) is the only thing standing between UND football and true ascension.
