  1. Studsrud went 2-2 as a starter, including a 2-0 mark in the last 2 games showing improvement. On top of that, he has youth on his side; he will continue to grow and get better. Plus, he led UND on a comeback game-winning drive to beat a ranked team for the first time since 2011. In my opinion, Hammer's comments were spot on. Bubba and Rudolph believe Srudsrud is the guy at the position moving forward. He'll only get better with his first winter weights session, a full fall camp preparing as the starter, a better defense and running game, and better receivers to work with.
  2. It's plain and simple: Don't beat Montana, Montana State, and Eastern Washington, you don't get considered as a top program. UND has yet to beat Eastern and Montana St. since becoming conference members; they beat Montana once but only in their down year of 2012. Basically, haven't had any positive results vs the big 3; that needs to change to get all-conference representation, Root sports media attention, and most importantly, playoff consideration.
  3. Still no respect in league ran by three schools: Montana, Montana State, and EWU. In three years as a Big Sky member, UND has only beat one of those three once (Montana in 2012). Until that changes, UND shouldn't expect much. Next year, the goal for UND needs to be to improve and have a winning club, but also knock off the "respected 3" in order to make the playoffs and earn respect.
  4. Those stats are a bit skewed. First off, games like SJSU and EWU kill stats like these, but most importantly, teams were forced to throw and abandon the run. That's part of the reason sack numbers and TFL's went way up; QBs were throwing more with more 3rd and long situations forced. Personally, I think the passing defense will improve quite nicely next year with a combination of young talent returning and some transfers brought it.
  5. We do have some good talent in the secondary that is young (Reyes, C.Carter, D. Harris, etc.), but I do agree with you; need to add some more talent in the back end.

  7. I was thinking the same thing. Looks like Weber State and Eastern Washington are the top two at this early juncture.
  8. As the FBS regular season comes to a close next weekend, it sounds like Bubba and his staff will be going after some FBS transfers this winter. I feel that is a positive move given where this program is; just a few offensive play-makers away from being a playoff club. The defense is looking good for next year, and FBS transfers treated that unit good this year (hit on 2 of 3 transfers). As for offense, 2012 and Braden Hanson (North Carolina) come to mind. As I see it, the biggest needs that transfers would address are: WR, RB, DB, OL

NDSU was a lot better this year than I thought. Have to give that program credit; they know how to win and recruit/develop players. I was right about UND, and they're on pace for a winning football club in 2015.
  10. Should've beat Montana. I'm buying the turnaround.
  11. Quarterback is only as good as the pieces around him. No running game early in the year (oline atill developing) and no receivers late in the year. Offensive line, running back, and receiver are all positions of need for 2015; defense looks set for at least next year. Of course, need to be constantly developing depth.
  12. Women's hockey is a minority sport in terms of intercollegiate athletics; unless the major revenue sports (football, basketball, and M hockey) are funded, it's detrimental to distribute so much of the financial resources. Football and even basketball deserves more support.
  13. Quarterback position is a moot point right now. Anyone of the three quarterbacks who played this season (assuming they're healthy) are capable, if the offense around them has sufficient talent and depth. Right now, that is not the case. Next season, UND needs new starters at running back and wide receiver, and offensive line still needs attention in my opinion (losing 2 starters due to graduation and need better depth). The defense looked good this season but even that unit acquired FBS transfers and JUCOs; offense NEEDS an FBS transfer or two for next season.
  14. Powell does a good job; however, he's not the SID. The SID is, well, the HID.
  15. NDSU doesn't get #1 seed #1 seed belongs to New Hampshire NDSU does get the #2 seed #3 Jacksonville State Big Sky Conference Champs, EWU Eagles, get #4 seed #5 Illinois State (2nd MVFC team) #6 Villanova #7 Coastal Carolina #8 Chattanooga MVFC and CAA only conferences to get 2 teams in top 8 Big Sky gets in three teams: #4 EWU, Montana, and Montana State Of note: Montana State hosts South Dakota State in the first round; the winner will play NDSU. Potential for NDSU to finally play Montana State in the FargoDome after Montana State bought out that regular season game.
  16. Agree. Way too much invested in women's hockey. Then again, that's apart of UND's athletic department not knowing if UND is in the USA or Canada. UND doesn't have a true SID; they have an HID.
  17. I agree. I want an athletic department that understands UND is not in Canada and football - as the outright number one sport in America - deserves to have a ton of attention. That means more money to coaches, more marketing of the product, and better presentation at the Alerus on gameday.
  18. Take a close look, folks. This is how UND is intended to look with Bubba's running game and pressure defense. Future looks bright.
  19. Offensive line has improved a ton too.
  20. ESPN FCS Kickoff Games: Big Sky: 2 MVFC: 1 Sorry
  21. UND sounds good. More unselfish talent playing this year apparently. Potential for a surprisingly good season perhaps?
  22. Doubtful it was offered last year. Good try though.
  23. That quote would never belong to Faison or Kelley. Shame UND athletics is being led with no direction.
