  1. Do you ever get tired of your own bullshi*?

Where is the BS except for what you type? Don't you ever get over your feelings of screw them they are just government sucking losers?

  2. Don't know the artist, but he could very well be upset or embarrassed by the unforeseen consequences and negativity brought upon by the anti-Fighting Sioux crowd.

To suggest he was sued (sic) (used?) is lame and a cop-out.

    Man up and own it.

It was suppose to say used, my bad. So now the NA who all of you have been saying is such a great guy is now the bad guy because he believes he was used? Actually he is embarassed by the pro-logo people and not the anti-logo people.

  3. So, let's hear his reasoning for saying that. Let's get the entire context of the conversation. Without it, your words are pretty hollow.

It is hollow only because you do not agree with the statement. He was sued and he knows it now. Claiming the logo honors the Dakota and Lakota rings by far more hollow. Since this arguement has only come up in the last couple of years.

  4. A mascot does not provide respect nor honor the Sioux nation. However, the logo does and it's designer, Bennet Brien, UND grad in 1999 was asked to design a new logo.

"Brien says all aspects of the logo, from the profile of the face to the colors, mean something. "Like red was for the blood, feathers for bravery," said Brien."

North Dakota does respect the Sioux and I am proud of the fact of how many NA students have graduated or are currently enrolled at UND, which btw is one of the top universities in the country with NA enrollment.

I am also honored that a sound majority of Sioux of the Spirit Lake Tribe agree with me...67% voted in favor of keeping. The Standing Rock Tribe also has solid support but has been disenfanchised by its ruling council even though its members clearly wish to have a vote.

    I hope this helps.

You left out the part where Ben wishes he had never created the new logo. Now everyone don't start jumping around saying how would you know that. Ben told me this himself and considering I have known him for 27 years I'll take him at his word.

  5. Mine was in the wall behind plexiglass when the building went down. Would guess it was hauled out to a dump or buried in a hole on site.

Hauled to the dump since Frenchy's was build on a concrete slab.

  6. Buck pitchers followed for 2 for 1's. Not telling my kids about that.

No way could it be 30 years ago. :D

So how about the in booth juke boxes that didn't work but still had Dean Martin and Patti Page on them.

I have one of those old wall jukeboxes in the garage.

  7. I agree. Hopefully someone will bring it back to life. I loved their hard rolls and pate'.

Siouxmama and I will just have to lunch at Al's when I'm home.

The hard rolls were never as good after Charlie's Bakery closed.

  8. The Toasted Frog is a good example of what can be done when people know what they're doing. When they opened I thought it would be an uphill battle, but by all accounts they've done quite well.

If I had the money I would have invested with BJ and Shaun without a doubt. They spent enough time at Sanders and the HoDo to know what works in this market and what does not work. This experiance has shown to be quite effective.

  9. Wouldn't the investors names be on the liqour license? What is almost as sad is that everyone knew that this was going to happen with Dave in the picture. What does that make Dave in the restaurant business, 0 for 3? Look at BJ and Shaun with the Frog and how well they have done for themselves and their investors. Two guys that are straight shooters and restaurant people. Whitey's had Dave and investors who are not restaurant people.

  10. Sorry Lomack but that's a silly argument. You can find random examples of crude people of all ethnicities treating others poorly. It happens everywhere, always has. But, that has nothing to do with the respectful way UND has used the Sioux name for decades. Or, the incredible educational opportunities and programs for Native Americans on the UND campus. The history of treatment of the Native Americans over the last 200 years isn't always something to be proud of. But, the use of and respect for the Sioux nickname by UND and Sioux fans has always been about connecting our athletic teams to a strong, proud and regional people group we want to be identified with. Using a few random anonymous postings to justify your argument shows how silly it is.

Thanks for the good laugh. Keep telling yourself this until you believe it. Sammy Sioux was real respectful now wasn't he?

  11. I was living in Atlanta in 2000 and I saw a Sioux hockey jersey hanging in a sports store in a mall where I lived. I was surprised to see it so I went in to look at it. While I was looking at it an individual came up to me and started asking me questions about the logo and jersey. That individual was Native American and we stood there and talked for about a half hour. He told me about himself and his tribe and I told him all about the history of UND regarding programs we had and about the name and logo. After that encounter I have always wondered why that type of a connection couldn't be made on a larger level with the name and logo. The only thing I ever hear is the negative angle.

Did you tell him how bad North Dakotans have treated the Native Americans and the jokes they have made about them. Don't say that this does not happen and never has since I have seen it my entire life here. Simply, did you tell him the whole story? Did you tell him about all the wonderful comments that were in the paper ripping the Lakota, Nakota, Dakota, and other native groups? Comments that no one would sign their names to. Did you ask him about the Cherokees and how they were driven out of Georgia?

  12. Likely nowhere downtown, but just south of the river in downtown is South Saint Paul, West Saint Paul, and Caesar Chavez Boulevard. Great authentic Mexican cuisine at any number of places. The Boca Chica perhaps being the most well known.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

  13. Personally, I like staying downtown because 1) you don't have to drive anywhere/find parking, 2) everything that's going on around the games (Pre and Post game get togethers, getting together with old and new friends, etc.) is downtown and you don't have to drive anywhere, 3) if you have too much to drink, you don't have to drive anywhere, 4) the atmosphere of the whole Final Five event is all over

the downtown area which contributes to the fun, 5) you get to meet nice people from different fan bases and can actually stop and visit without having to worrying about 'beating the traffic, 6) people with younger children can let them chill in the pool or room right up to game time, 7) ......there's more but I have to get ready for work.

Thanks. This does make lots of sense. If I stayed downtown where can I find good Mexican food?

  14. Yeah, I'm sure that is exactly what happened.

You're saying that Dean Blais was not aware of a kid with DI talent living in the same town as him? A kid that played in an arena that Dean Blais likely drove past at least twice per day when going to and from work?

You're saying that the head coach of UND at the time needed to get informed of this kid by the assistant coach, who in turn had lied to him about actually watching this prospect play?

    Seriously?

Truth is stranger than fiction. I never said it was a fact did I? If where I said this show me. I said what Grant's dad told me and since our families have known each other for over 80 years what would I know.

  15. You really need to learn a few lessons about trust and confidentiality. Even if true, does Grant's father really want you disclosing what he likely told you in confidence?

You ever get that autograph for the guy who was looking for one for his kid? If not, why not? You came on crowing about all of the people you know, and how you get free tickets, teach the youngsters with their maths and sciences, blah blah blah. Rather sad really.

Potulny turned out to be a fine fine college hockey player and will someday be a fine head coach. I always liked telling my Minnesota buddies that it took a North Dakota boy to bring them back to the promised land. This said, there are hundreds of solid D-I recruits year in and year out. UND likely took a glance, but decided to pass on recruiting him hard for whatever reason. Maybe they did take a run at him. Maybe they didn't. I could not care less. That is the domain of players, their families, and coaches. I have heard recruiting stories from a few parents, but what purpose is really served by barking them here when it was obvious that I was told in confidence? None.

If Grant's Pa wants to weigh in here, give him a call and ask him to do so. Second hand stories mean nothing to me, and I really could not care less if I heard it from the little birdie's mouth directly. Old old news, if your claims are anything more than stories.

Finally, I do not believe for a second that Hak would have ever lied to Blais. Although I do not know him, I also do not believe that Mr. Potulny is a liar in any respect. You, sir, are not presently extended this presumption in my mind.

Just repeating what Grant's dad told me, which is more of a primary source than anyone here comes up with. Who said he told me that in confidence since other people were sitting there, including my mother. Why should I get the kid an autograph since I do not even know the kid? Since all of you have such tight connections to the program it should be easy for all of you to get him one.

  16. Ryan never was going to play for the Sioux, he was wearing Gopher gear around Soph year. Irman would follow Ryan to the ends of the earth at that time.

Hak IS a great recruiter, you'll sole example was Grant Potulny? Hahaha, get real. Have you ever thought that maybe Grant wanted to play for the Gophers instead of the Sioux? Kids have choices to make or maybe Dean didn't want him. One player the Sioux didn't get, but of course you forgot Toews and Parise. Actually I forget, where is Toews/Parise now days? How bout Grant? You win some, you lose some when it comes to recruiting. I would agrue that Toews has done more for recognition of our program than Grant has for Minnesota. Our program was amazing when Hak took over, its now an elite stopping point for US/Canada players to get to the NHL and play for a winning program and get a quality education.

I did realize Steve was a GM and HC at Lincoln and Fargo, again, whats your point? Fargo was in 2009 so thats irrelavant to your agrument.

Again, when Hak took over he had 4 yrs at UND, recruiting, teaching, and developing as a COLLEGE coach. Steve Johnson during those 4 yrs was a head coach in the USHL. By far better experience at UND then in the USHL. Just my opinion.

UND associate HC > USHL GM/HC.

PS. Hak was a GM/HC for 4 yrs prior to that. Again, career progression, thats what its all about.

Show me where I once said that Steve would be a better coach? You people like to make up what someone else wrote or have a real problem with your reading skills. You brought up Hak's GM experience and I pointed out only that Steve had more GM experience than Hak and more head coaching experience when Hak was hired. I just posted his resume and that was it. Jeez you people really do need to get a life. Does Hak have to wipe your drool off his shoes? I was not even the person who brought up Steve to start with. The question I responded to was who else is there to coach and I brought up Berry and someone else brought up Steve.

  17. You are a moron! Grant was recruited to Gooferville while Dean was still the coach. If Dean would have really wanted Grant he would have played for the Sioux.

Ryan followed his brother and Irman followed his friends.

So Grant's dad is a liar because he was the one who told me about Grant and Hak.
