  1. its basic risk assessment. we are writing a novel here. its a simple, "i'll be home in twenty" or "on my way". If theres no one around, yes, I'm texting. Whats next? No walking and chewing gum at the same time?

    You can do that?

  2. I saw a doozy recently. I was behind someone who seemed to be poking along. I changed lanes and got around her to see that she had a cigarette in her left hand hanging out the window and the phone in her right hand. She must have been knee driving. This was on a road similar in traffic volume to 32nd Ave.

Here it would be a beer and a cell phone.

  3. How noble of you. How about if there are cars around you with kids in them? Do you stop texting then or is just the kids in your car you are worried about?

It would appear only her own.

  4. if someone cannot text and drive safely, they probably shouldn't be behind the wheel in the first place. I text and drive from time to time. I don't do it in bumper to bumper traffic. I don't do it as I pass through unmarked intersections. I absolutely don't do so with kids in the car.If i am on I-29 with nobody around, then i am fine with deterring my eves for a couple seconds. The one thing that the law has changed is that when I'm texting at the stoplight, I am looking around to see who is watching, hopefully not an officer...

It is people like you who should not be behind the wheel. Are you going to say that you have not drfited all over the road while texting? You probably did not notice you were because that text message was so important to read while driving.

  5. I don't think people are advocating texting and driving. They're just pointing out that simply passing a law against it doesn't necessarily deter the behavior.

Have you ever driven above the speed limit?

Have you ever eaten while driving? How is that any less distracting than texting?

Quite a bit of difference between them.

  6. stupidest law every

Until the person texting runs into you. Do you really believe someone that is trying to text and drive is not an idiot for doing so? Or are you just one of those idiots that do text and drive?

  7. With the potential lockouts in the NFL and NBA next year, the NHL and college hockey could have a tremendous exposure opportunity!

Two weekends ago, I was able to watch four college hockey games on tv at once: UND vs SCSU, UM vs MSU-M, BSU, VS UNO, and BU vs BC. It was good to see college hockey getting that much air time! Granted the BSU vs UNO game was on local Bemidji PBS channel and probably only available to a limited audience, but it's a start!

Oceans start from a sigle drop of water so who knows?

  8. The Media Guide lists Chad with 22 points and Steve with 191. 22+191=213. 213>200. I said that between the 2 brothers they had more than 200 points, so that when combined with the Panzer brothers you had 2 sets of brothers that added up to more than 450 points. How is that not even close?

My bad! I read it as 300 points not 200.

  9. I would think that Steve and Chad Johnson would do that. I believe that they have well over 200 points between them.

Not even close to that. Chad had only like 23 points in his three years. He could have had more than Steve though. In reality Chad could have been better than the TB Johnsons, Panzers, or the Hoogsteens.

  10. OK, since that one's answered : Two pairs of brothers from this town scored over 450 points?

Real points or do phantom assists count? Greg Johnson had more phantom assists than probably anyone ever in college hockey. The worst one I ever saw was Johnson came off the bench, never was in the play or even touched the puck, but still got an assist. That guy got assists for just being in the building when a goal was scored.

  11. OK...this is rather off topic.....so give me hell if you want....but...since there is an aviation guy in the know on this thread......is there any possibility with this oil boom that Williston could ever get regional jet service, and/or any type of service into Salt Lake City? Again......I apologize in advance for the thread drift.....

Not a thread drift at all. Actually it is a great contribution to the thread. To answer your question the runway in ISN can not handle RJs, yet. To build what they need would require some ear mark money and sense our newly elected scumbag to the House signed the no ear mark pledge I doubt it will happen. Also Patrick Dame agrees with me of there being no gain from or need of a GFK-SLC connection. One of the things that I have come across in my research was air service in NW Arkansas, the home of the mighty Wal-Mart. They only have RJ service there. One would think there would be enough traffic of business travelers to justify larger planes. Last time I checked there were no first class seats going in there, which makes sense when you think about it. A bunch of regular fliers with gold status looking for upgrades to first. With a bunch of people looking for upgrades someone would be mad for sure for not getting one. But if there are not any to be had then no one can get mad.
