  1. The last that was stated was "it will be likely a few games on FCS". It is becoming more and more clear that getting games on a national stage is not high priority for Midco, and they want to get a few more customers locally. There has been absolutely nothing from UND to state any efforts on their part in any efforts recently. Really sad for those outside the ND, MN, SD footprint that have to rely on the supposed ever improving webcasts. Like last weeks games that ended with about 10-15 seconds left in the broadcast. When Denver actually has more push than UND for TV coverage, that says a lot for those involved. But remember, it is on pay-per-view on NCHC-TV so everyone get in line.
  2. The only issue I had with the game last night was the brightness was a little greater on the mirroring of my IPad to AppleTV, but pretty good otherwise. I will try to work on that. I do feel for the NCHC in getting this going, promising a lot, and not making sure what capabilities the schools have. This is garbage though, and definitely not better than watching on FCS. I would take this for away games, with a few bugs.
  3. It is really sad that Midco would hold up this deal. As was mentioned, they actually did have it on FCS prior to the CBSSN deal. I do not buy the advertiser end, because that still goes out nationally which is not a bad thing. Those outside the ND,SD, MN area have gotten the short end for the last couple of years and the vision for national exposure should have been thought about. Obviously the CBSSN deal has done nothing until January this season, and the NCHC-TV is a good thing for those on the road, but it is still a long way from true HD in your home viewing. It has improved from last year, but it is not a long term solution until they get all the bugs worked out. The action live video is still jittery, and please do not buy the "it is on your end" answer. The improvements have been in the addition of Apple products to be able to run the games, and the PIP option for all the games. The PIP is good for those who had a subscription for UNDInsider this year, but it will be interesting to see how many subscribers will bail next year if the quality does not improve and only do the school subscription. I realize the cost is not too much more, but it still will be interesting.
  4. Way to take the bait. My comment was generic about the webcasts, and I do realize that this was likely on UND's end and threw out the Neulion as past issues. I just wanted to have some fun, and obviously hurt someone's feelings. Didn't mean to touch a nerve.
  5. For those who want to hear the game, go on IHeart Radio and listen to Tim on 96.1. Most people thinks it is a better option anyway.
  6. Cue the apologists for the wonderful web casts. Neulion is wonderful - do not blame them, etc. At least I know where to get my carhardts!
  7. Is anyone else only getting the audio during commercials. Great start to the web casts again this year. I am sure it is on my end though.
  8. Just remember, it is all on your end. My subscription, which was supposed to be "All-access", based on my UND Insider premium subscription is "UND Only" on the NCHC TV site. I should have checked on that earlier, but that is what I get for having a little trust. I do not expect a great deal from Neulion, as far as speed to correct any issues based on past experience. You can say what you want about other systems that they supposedly run (NHL, etc.), but it all comes down to how badly they want to do this and support it. Sad to hear about more problems, but as I said I do not even have access to other games yet to provide input.
  9. Just as an FYI folks, for those of you who have signed up for NCHCTV as a UNDInsider via that e-mail, you better check your subscriber status. We are supposed to be an "All Access" package, but I tried to check out the UMD/Wisconsin women's game last night and it said that I did not have access. I than checked my subscription, and it said it was just for UND. I tried to e-mail them through the contact us form twice, and received one computer generated response that they received my e-mail. No actual response yet, but if it is going through Neulion, that is not surprising based on past experiences.
  10. I think they are the Bysunz (plural), not Byzin.
  11. I do not think you read my post very well. The Theodore Roosevelt character would be a MASCOT, not a logo, or I did not say to use "Roughriders", as a nickname. By getting a mascot, we would totally satisfy the NCAA requirement and we can just be North Dakota.
  12. I totally agree with keeping it just "North Dakota" without any new nickname or logo. However, I do have a way of making this a compromise. In the theme of keeping it just "North Dakota", we could adopt a mascot like a Theodore Roosevelt character to play on the theme of North Dakota as the "Roughrider State", but adopt no nickname or logo. That would take care of the NCAA nonsense. Hey, the Washington National's have a president race using caricatures during inning breaks, so how can that be bad. Keeping with the inclusive nature of the progressive movement going on, if folks wanted to wear a roughrider outfit, meadowlark, or wild prairie rose's on an outfit to the game to celebrate us as just "North Dakota", that would be their choice and who are we to decide what folks want to wear. If folks want to wear jersey's with any Sioux logo, or yell "Sioux" at the end of our national anthem, who can argue that they are just being inclusive. The Sioux are indeed a great and proud part of North Dakota, and who in all of their progressive little mind would deny somebody as being excluded like the great American Indian or Native American heritage of the great state of North Dakota. I think this is a great way to make sure everyone is satisfied and we can move on.
  13. I do not care to remember it much, but it could help the guys this year. The 2004 Parise year when Denver did not make it to the FInal FIve, but got an at large bid to the West regional. We beat up on Holy Cross, but lost to Denver 1-0 on a late goal (reminiscent of last night). By the way, Denver went on to win it all that year. I hope that is good karma. We had an awesome team that year, but like folks have said on here, anyone can win this time of year if a goalie gets hot or you do not show up for 60 minutes.
  14. I see there is no internet video for either game this weekend. I would like to be wrong on this, but I cannot find any info on that happening. I also have a question regarding the magical appearance of a NCHC matchup on a Fox Sports station. We were told that that could not happen due to the NCHC "agreement" with CBS Sports Network. My only guess is that this is considered a "local" or "Regional" Fox Sports station similar to Root Sports, so it is allowed. I am not sure how that can be the case because you can get these Fox Sports stations on satellite such as Direct TV, so to me that makes it nationally available.
  15. Bottom line is if we do not get a sweep or a win/tie out of this all of the pairwise prognostications can go out the window. I see splits in the future with teams we would need to sweep to improve the pairwise, so our chance to go to the tourney would have to rely on a friendly Target Center.
  16. It varied greatly from venue to venue due to the games that I have watched are US national teams and they have been from various countries and not from one particular team or arena. The picture was usually a pretty good standard quality, but the announcers made the games hilarious to watch at times. I am sure the announcers for these games will be very knowledgeable about hockey, but not so much the teams. I also have not heard the rule changes in place due to these games. Not sure whether they will be US college rules or Canadian college rules, so that will also make it interesting for the announcers. One last thing that I noticed from these games is that they usually have one camera doing the coverage, sometimes two, so you will have to give them allowance for that as well. For those that used to watch the Alaska-Anchorage games it is much better than that.
  17. I have watched numerous games on Fast Hockey (mostly the US National squad games) and the quality has been good. I doubt these games will be in high definition, but the feed does not chatter like the NeuLion UND games, so in that way it will likely be better. But NeuLion continues to say it is on my end and not their problem. Obviously the games that I watched on FastHockey did not have the likely number of folks that these two games will get, so we will see how that is handled. I never had any buffering watching it using IE as a platform and did not have to go to Google Chrome like for the NeuLion feed. Bottom line is that the FastHockey feed was much better than most feeds of college games, but remember there is no commercials, so be prepared for lengths of silence and the camera work is sometimes a little sketchy.
  18. Now the apologists for the university are going to have something else to blame the lack of folks watching the webcasts. They will say that the numbers are down because the team sucks, not because the internet feed is bad, because it is on your end. I really would love to see the numbers of folks logging in to webcasts, vs. FCS vs. FTA. The original numbers Jayson gave were pathetic after the exhibition, but I have not seen anything since.
  19. This is by far the worst loss and team failure I have seen in many years. This team is not playing with any heart and you do not know who is going to show up. There is no line chemistry, zero power play effort (dump and chase might work if someone is going to chase), not playing anywhere good enough to get any bounces, and they should all be embarrassed. This team will be the first in the Hakstol era to not make the NCAA's, because I see no leadership beyond the general, and it will not be even close. There is talent on this team and the defensemen (if they actually play defense, not wing) are going to develop. To watch this on a horrible internet feed which chops and no one cares is even worse (it does look good when they are standing still, but it is on my end I am sure).

    Fools!

Just because it aired zero Minnesota games does not mean you cannot make a comparison. I would bet that the UND-Miami(OH) game on CBSSN will have more viewers than any Minnesota game on the Big10 Network during the first half of the season. Also, I would like someone to explain how the UND-BU game is allowed to be aired on NBCSN since we supposedly cannot have FCS cover the games. Would love to see the contract that was signed by the NCHC.

    Fools!

Big schools by size does not equal TV viewership. The UND/Nebraska-Omaha was I believe the highest viewed college hockey game on the NBCSN last year. My argument is with the negotiation behind the deals with MidCo and CBSSN. A simple clause in the contract that stated that any games that are not selected to be covered by CBSSN would be allowed to be broadcast by the teams in whatever manner they wanted. I would bet that one of the North Dakota-Minnesota games from Marriucci will be on the Big10 Network when they play there in a couple of years. Even if Wisconsin is playing Michigan or Michigan State, that game would get the viewership.

    Fools!

This will end up hurting recruiting and the issue I have is the poor negotiating that the NCHC did. The NCHC does not have an EXCLUSIVE contract with CBSSN as they also have three Atlantic Hockey telecasts. It is sad when the college hockey team with the most TV viewership nationally cannot negotiate. All we hear is the sob story of, "We were just one of eight votes". There is no doubt the BigTen league, with only six teams, has a HUGE edge in coverage right now. Who would have believed even a year ago that Penn State would have more nationally televised games than North Dakota. The Big Ten has games televised on the CBSSN, NBCSN, ESPNU, ESPNNews, and of course the Big10 Network. In fact Wisconsin and Michigan have as many games on CBSSN as Nebraska-Omaha. Do you think that the BU-UND game being televised on NBCSN does not have anything to do with the viewership that the UND fan base has? Also, the WCHA has an equal internet service for all of their teams announced, that UND currently has for fans outside of the MidCo viewing area. Again, take a look at UND's roster and see how many of the boys are outside of the MidCo footprint. This was a horrible deal with CBSSN. By the way, since the Big10 has their own network and NBCSN gathered in Hockey East after Notre Dame joined, who else was CBSSN going to get as far as college hockey. Do you think they would want the viewership of Atlantic Hockey (although as I mentioned they have three games already in their line up), ECAC or the WCHA?
  23. Picture looks great when still or slow action, but when streamed via HDMI cable from PC to Samsung 50" Smart TV the action is still a little jittery and got a little worse near the end of the second period before smoothing out. Using Google Chrome, and a clean copy of that. It is just faster action that gets a little jittery. Definitely better than last week. Not sure what cold be causing it, but at least it is not buffering. The picture on my monitor looks a little better, so it seems like it is just during the expansion.
  24. IT could be the web site. I agree. I am copying in the response that I got from Neulion. The reason I think many folks do not ask them questions is they do not actually try to fix anything. How many times do you have to say to make sure the software is up to date. Do they not understand it when I tell them that other sites and videos, live feeds, etc. work well. The comment I would make to folks is DO NOT run the game on IE. Use Google Chrome for your best opportunity to have the best feed. Below is the canned response: Dear Subscriber, Please ensure that you are up to date with all of your software. Please just verify by downloading the following: Microsoft Internet Explorer: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx Adobe Flash Player: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ If these do not correct the problem, please try downloading and installing Google Chrome: http://www.google.com/chrome If you experience the same issues in Google Chrome please first try to lower the bit rate or quality level to see if this improves playback for you. If you have the same issues on the lowest quality level please try the following. Right-click on the video screen, and you should be given a list of Flash related options. Please select "Settings..." from the list of options presented. Along the bottom of the 'Settings' box, you'll see some tabs... Click the 3rd tab over to the right (looks like a file folder with green arrow on top) and move the slider bar to the right until higher than 100 KB (1 MB is the next option to the right) Next, click the tab on the far left (looks like a monitor) and then uncheck the box that says "enable hardware acceleration". (if the box is unchecked already, try 'checking' the box). Next, clear your browser cache and cookies and check for video improvement. Please let us know if you continue to experience the same issues so we can help further troubleshoot your issue. Please also visit the two speed tests below and let us know what your download speeds are. http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest -- Select the New York target option as a baseline http://speed.neulion.com:1855/nlspeedtest/ Thank you, Neulion Support
  25. I have the same issue, and you are correct others have also reported this. I have messaged Neulion and they do as they always do and say it is on my end. I run tons of other live and recorded feeds without issues including the WatchBigSky live events. The recorded shows also blur and than clear during watching with is also annoying. I will message them again, but I expect the same response back.
