  1. As much as I'd like to believe in a conspiracy, after watching that game tonight I'd have to say that Minnesota out-worked and out-hustled SCSU. The Huskies looked slow, disorganized, and lathargic. They didn't deserve to win the game and the score certainly doesn't indicate how badly they were out played.
  2. Let's bury 'em.
  3. Message to the Sioux hockey team: Let's bury 'em tonight.
  4. Mankato started sagging w/ about 5 mins left. They iced the puck about 4 times in a row before getting some chances toward the end of the 1st OT.
  5. You wouldn't know the UM/Mankato game was 0-0 by watching it. It's actually been an up-and-down, entertaining game to watch. Go Mavs.
  6. this ref must be on the st. cloud payroll!!!
  7. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,334790,00.html "California High School Football Star Gunned Down in Random Gang Attack" I sit here in my home in Parker, Colorado reading with great interest about the homestretch in college hockey, excited about UND's prospects for winning the McNaughton Cup, the Broadmoor Trophy, and a chance to skate around the Pepsi Center this April, holding up the school's 8th National Championship in men's ice hockey. Periodically, I scan Fox News for updates on the election, news, etc. Sadly, I just came across this story (see link above) and it just makes a guy think about how precious life is and how lucky we college hockey fans are. A good kid with a promising future, gunned down for no reason. His mom, on her way back from Iraq, having to deal with the loss of her 17 year old son. A father who seemed to want his son to just make it through high school and go on to college to get his education and to play football and track. This article really hit home for me and I felt it necessary to share it with any of you interested in reading it. -Dan
  8. McLeod better not make UND the scapegoat for the league's fighting and poor officiating problems. The fights that UND has been involved in are in part due to the terrible officiating (or lackthereof). The fighting is a symptom; frustration over the non-calls of all the little stuff-like the slash Oshie took this past weekend vs. Duluth. McLeod should look in the mirror-the buck stops here with the man in charge. It looks bad when the leader starts pointing the finger at everyone else below him.
  9. VV GOAL!!!!
  10. 5-2, CC just got an empty net goal.
  11. 1-0, Minnesota about 30 seconds into the game.
  12. 3-2 CC after 2 periods.
  13. 5 on 3 pp for MSU.
  14. Crap, 2-2 now between MSU & CC.
  15. Isn't that mushroom cloud from the Megadeth Greatest Hits album? (A great collection of tunes I might add)
  16. Oshie (not Chuck Norris) doesn't do pushups, he pushes the earth away!!!
  17. On one hand, I'm nervous for this weekend's series w/ Minny based on how poorly the Sioux played at home against them back in December. On the other, I'm encouraged based on seeing the Sioux on the road in 3 tough environments-DU Magness Arena, BC's Conti Forum, and Northeastern's Matthew's Arena. Despite losing 1-0 to DU on Friday night, they played well. Perhaps a road trip into a hostile environment brings out the best in the Sioux.
  18. I'm biased here but I got so pumped up when they played "Keep Away" by Godsmack. They played it when the houselights went down, just before announcing the Sioux starting lineup. They'd show highlights of NCAA hockey championship games.
  19. I just called and left the athletic department office a voicemail, asking them to call me back on Monday. I remember when I was 13, I had open heart surgery down at the Mayo Clinic. I also recall how thrilled I was to receive an autographed stick from the team as well as the opportunity to go down to the team's locker room before a game and meet the players. I think Nicholas would appreciate the chance to meet the guys.
  20. I'm going to see if we can get this story passed along to the UND athletic department, and specifically Coach Hakstol. It would be cool of the hockey team could do something for this little boy, next weekend is short notice but wouldn't it be great if some of the players could meet with him by phone or in person? At a minimum, I bet the team could give him an autographed stick and/or jersey.
  21. In a sense, Schmidt's bad calls actually did hurt the Sioux........indirectly. DU got 4 points due to the screw ups where, had Schmidt got the calls right, potentially DU would've gotten 0, 2, or 3 points depending on how those two games played out. Regardless, DU got 4 points unjustly and we are in a race with them. CC was also negatively impacted as they battle with DU for the McNaughton Cup.
  22. I know its off topic but the Herald said that Oshie was stripped of his "A" on his jersey. Is this permanent? If so, who replaced him as an alternate captain?
  23. That's a great suggestion. Hakstol needs to try a variety of unusual things to get a spark. Maybe putting them up in a hotel (not the same one as the visiting team) might be a great idea. Maybe they could re-open the Westward Ho?!?!
