i think something is lost in this. That the NCAA and AG decided on the timeline because it was time for election cycles to change the councils. (I thought somewhere said it was two elections on both reservations) On both reservations that was enough to vote out opponents and in proponents of the name. That was supposed to be the true litmis test. Wtih thatm, tribal politics, it makes it SO hard for a council to make a 30 year agreement the SBoHE required.

Hoeven did take the easy way out. It had nothing to do with getting a senate seat. He would have gotten that anyway. It was more to do with the ball had already rolled too far. There was no sense in him jeopardizing UND's NCAA standings to make a ruckus over an issue the NCAA wanted to go away just as bad as many in power in this state. They saw it as a black eye. that could be healed quickly for the better of UND, in that, it didn't have a cloud of controversy around it with the issue. If it is to settle and lose the name, the loud minority is quieted, if the name is kept it will continue to be a thorn in the side of the school. I love of the name as much as anyone, and I have done many things in the past three years to try and effect the issue on the reservations and in ND communities, but it was an uphill battle from the day the NCAA passed the first act of hostile and abusive name changing. I haven't given up but I do understand that the issue is under a very large thumb that it will probably not get out from under.

I was sober when I posted this. Historically Hakstol has played hot goalies until they are cold. JP and Eids. He gets on a hot goalie and doesn't give thema break even when they may need one befor playoffs. I think the 7 goals by BC in 08 was solid evidence of a fast forward(Gerbe) but also a mentally tired goalie who got no D help either. I would love to have one dominant goalie and a solid backup that can take some of the work load. Maybe we have that this year.

Historically our coach has too in 6 season. The problem has been he has ran the hot cold in some opinions

I don't condone the violence but I am sorry, for those on here clamoring for the old time hard nosed hockey, the stands to be rowdy the way the old Ralph was, Police are not the answer. The reason things can't be the way they used to be is because things have changed. I love SIoux Hockey but it's college hockey and i am not going to jail/physically fight for it. We can't have things the way they used to be, no matter how great the memories are, that's a fact.

Not to mention the people with the bar seats at $1500 a seat would HATE being surrounded by students and that would clearly be the "student" Bar. It does work best to have them where they are at. I think it is better if they can get at the goalie but the arena isn't designed for that. Also St Cloud has their student on the end line sides that Huskies shoot at twice. The "suites" are behind the net in the wall.

Lots of arenas hand out those blow up sticks for smacking together. I agree Cowbells are a different level of noise maker though. If it is the wrong pitch it may make the whistle tough to hear.

As someone who played goalie (in soccer so slightly different) you are taught to control everything you think may go in. If he moved into position and didn't make an effort, he got beat because of poor judgement. It doesn't matter if the puck goes in the middle of the net, the upper corner, or hits the pipe he got beat because the shooter fooled him. The pipe/crossbar is your best friend because when the puck hits and makes that sound and goes wide, its telling you, 'you screwed up and need to do better' in it's own loud way. I loved that sound, its typically a mistake that you are immediately forgiven for.

I feel like the two teams are going to be pretty evenly matched as well after watching the Goofs series. That said I think we split or get 3 pts. We tie or lose Friday, Win Saturday. I see 2-3 goals for each team and no shutouts this weekend. High Flying hard hitting fast skating old school hockey. Prayers for no 5 MAJ's

We all should take a note though. I have had problems with fellow Sioux "D-Bags," who are not fans but just like everyother fan base they show up to get drunk and rag on people in the halls of games. That isn't acceptable. It's COLLEGE hockey!!! Not life and death, no reason to be an adult beating people up or fighting. If you are at a game have a good time with them, enjoy the banter, and shake hands at the end of the game.

I agree. I think the 5 Maj and Game DQ were enough, and were done partly to keep the game from getting out of control as well. Malone got his punishment and should be on the ice Friday. 3pts for the Sioux this weekend.

My seats are by the Sioux bench and thats what happened. He and Maiani were going back and forth Then he was told he got the game when the refs were pulling him away from the talking. He raised his stick going into the tunnel like he was going to break it and then didn't. I was dissapointed by his behavior. I know he needed to defend himself, and it wasn't like in the NHL where it happened right on top of the guy down but...I didn't see too much concern. NOTE: there was absolutely no celebration of the hit, no taunting, and Maiani appeared to start the confrontation. Malone was just going in the door to the bench.

Saw him going to the locker room between First and Second Friday night. no limps or splints. Mono has infected a lot of programs so far this year. Stupid Jersey Chasers. If i have to, I will take them for the team.
