Kelly Kapowski: Rowrrr!!!
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
She was damn hot.

It's also obvious that some people aren't going to let facts interfere with their perception of reality.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I appreciate the stats that Canuck has put forward and it really shows that the conspiracy is just that a conspiracy.
What I don't understand is how when someone has a differing opinion on this issue, they are always accused of not "letting the facts interfere with their peception of reality".
PCM, if you were close to a hockey family and knew of an existing pressure and you were the only one who wrote about it, would that mean the pressue doesn't exist and everyone is crazy who believes that?
-
Then continue to be that big fish. Apparently your strategy bodes you well. Best of luck.
GO BISON!!
2005 Great West Champions

Enough with the smack talk.

Back to Roenick's words, I think that in a league hurting for fan support you should never say those things.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Again, no one is defending what Roenick said, you are preaching to the choir on this one.

I don't know if Western Ward County is technically considered Western North Dakota but that part of the state is definitely not in a drought.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I would say that is pretty far West in the state.

In Minnesota it is a rarity that the best kids go D 1.
What? Where do the best kids in Minnesota go?
I'm not being a jerk, I'm just curious.

Great post PCM.
I'm not that great at clearly articulating my point of view and even though I disagree with some of your thoughts, I definitely agree that the NHL needs to make some serious changes to capture the attention of old and new fans.

Does anyone know if they are going to sell regional tickets with the season tickets or if they will be handled separately?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I'm sure they will be handled separately. The question is, when is any of this information going to be released. About a month a half ago, Chris Semrau at The Ralph said on radio interview that details about the regional would be released in the next couple of weeks. Well, we are still waiting. lol

I can't believe that the media is now sticking up for him. Everywhere you look now the media is saying that it was taken out of context and that he is just standing up for what he believes and that he is the nicest guy when it comes to fans.
There is a good story on ESPN Page 2 right now that pretty much mirrors my feelings:
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=hruby/050629
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You say that the media is sticking up for him, but then you post a link to an article that "mirrors" your feelings?
Can you find me anything from anywhere that sticks up for what Roenick said?
What I've seen and read so far, is no one is sticking up for what he said, but some in the media are welcoming the honesty for once in this debate, especially from someone associated with the NHL.
Dan Patrick is known for taking an interview like the one with Roenick and turning it into a segment about himself and how he is this tough interviewer. His arrogance almost overshadowed that of Roenick's ego and that is hard to do.

This shouldn't be too difficult since so many posters on this board are such experts on this tournament after following it for two years.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Calm down, step back, breathe for five minutes
I never have and never will consider myself an expert on anything, especially the World Junior tournament.
Why take a shot at posters on this board who aren't "experts" on the World Junior tournament?
-
I don't see any actual source backing up the statement within the article; for that reason, I have to think that is pure speculation on the part of the writer. If what he says is true about some kind of "movement," then that would be completely assinine. But the bottom line is, it hasn't happened.
Meanwhile, I ask you to again refer to the list of 40 players. In one corner, the facts. In the other corner, an unattributed statement in a newspaper article.
And let's cut the indignation about Tri-City trying to "pressure" Toews into playing for them; I find it hard to believe anybody on this board is naive enough to think that recruiting wars take place only in Candian junior hockey. Puh-lease.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I would doubt that Hockey Canada would be releasing any official statements regarding this, nor would the CHL.
"But the bottom line is, it hasn't happened." Puh-lease

I love it when people back up former "heroes" from their home state without knowing the facts.
Fact: Phil Jackson couldn't care less about Williston, North Dakota
Fact: Phil Jackson views the Sioux nickname as racist
Fact: Phil Jackson won't be lobbying the NBA to schedule a game in North Dakota
I swear, it's no different than Mike Modano of the Dallas Stars. There are still people here in Mpls/St Paul crying about how Modano loved it here and how he cried when he left. Then I show them the SI issue that came out several years later and he talks about how the players were thrilled to head to Dallas so they could play golf. He even chided the NHL about its decision to put a team back in Minnesota, saying that if it failed once, they should abandon the idea of ever thinking a team in Minnesota could last. Nice guy, just like Mr. Jackson.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I agree with almost all of your post, except for the Williston part. I'm not sure how you know that to be "Fact", but in interviews, in all of his books and in speeches he has been nothing but complimentary towards Williston and his time spent there.

Did you know 2005 marked the first time in nine years Canada's WJC roster did not include at least one U.S. college player?
This conspiracy theory simply does not hold water. When it comes to hockey, Canada wants to win. There are no Woog-ish practices going on. If there is a player playing somewhere beyond the Canadian borders that can help the team win, they will use him, no matter if he's playing in Cranbrook, B.C., or Pakistan.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Thank you Mr. Canada
-
They put together great teams all the time, no one is doubting that, but I really don't think playing at a university in the US is really helping your chances on getting on their team.
-
Oh gawwd. Here we go again
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I think it is a pretty valid point. It is hard to argue with the route Team Canada has taken.
-
-
Maybe I should come and protest one of your protests someday. How would you like that?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
That would be fun and count me in on that one. I guarantee we could have more people protesting the protesters.

-BISMARCK-ST. MARY'S : Home game against an in-state school. Formerly coached by Dale Lennon.
That is the University of Mary, not St. Mary's. St. Mary's is a private catholic high school in Bismarck.

OH MY GOD! I know this guy!
He's a nice guy. Big-arsed Swede from the Twin Cities. Used to live in Swanson Hall one floor above me.
We'd go to hockey games and chant lame cheers like "Let's get fired up!" "We are fired up" as a sort of inside joke to start the game. When I was in the lower bowl, he sat about 3 or 4 rows above me in section 108.
I can't believe it! I'm calling him up and getting some stuff.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
wow, can I shake your hand since you know this guy, i can't believe you know him, wow, i'm so excited...................

given your line of thinking the Bison should add hockey because then they'll likely be in the top 25?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
1. If you look, they are in the top 25
2. He wasn't talking about the Bison, since they have already made their move to D I.
