  1. I could see your first two choices being in the running. I very much doubt there will be anything remotely native american influenced in the new name so nokota is not a possibility.
  2. Can the NCAA make the navy take the tomahawks off the coat of arms?
  3. Interesting that you say you used to eat with Seamus. I really miss that man.
  4. This is the best guess I have seen so far of what the final name will be. Just be assured, it will be hyper politically correct and yet suck at the same time.
  5. To report back on my recent trip to GF. We ate at Whiteys (could not pass it up for old times sake, but won't need to go back any time soon). I was disapointed with the change to the menu. On a better note, we ate at Wild Hogs. It was very good. The portions were large, the smoked meat was tasty and the sauces complimented the smoke nicely. Since we are remembering good burger places that no longer exist, I will throw out The Riverside Drive In. It was near the point bridge in EGF. It was the best burger in the metro area in my opinion.
  6. I would be interested in that as well. I hit whiteys for old times sake last time I was to GF for homecoming a couple of years ago. It was not like the old days.
  7. Thanks for the recommendations. We will most likely check out Parrot Cay and The Toasted Frog although the indication that it was a younger hipper Sanders was really an anti incentive for me.
  8. I am going to be in Grand Forks on an upcoming Sunday and Monday. Most of the places I used to consider for better dining when I lived in Grand Forks back in the 80's and 90's are long gone. Sanders will not be open, where do you go for a decent meal in Grand Forks these days.
  9. I didn't mean to imply that graduating from the engineering school was a waste of time. My degree has served me well. Changing the name, still a waste of time.
  10. Based on all the other "new" team names former native American themed teams have adopted in the past twenty or so years, the new name will be super politically correct and suck.
  11. Like I said, a waste of time. I am also wondering what this will do to the value of my collection of North Dakota School of Mines Pottery. (Not really, but I am not big on changing names of long established institutions.)
  12. As a graduate of the school of engineering, I can say this is a waste of time.
  13. I would think that the Sioux would find Cavalry hostile and abusive, but what do I know?
  14. Why in the wide wide world of sports is MplsBison still allowed to post here? He never adds anything of value. Ever!
  15. Until they turn the horseshoe bar back to it's proper north/south alignment, this business will continue to struggle. The magnetic flux lines are all wrong.
  16. Dave Gunther offered me a scholarship. I've been a fan ever since.
  17. It all really depends on if summer falls on a weekend or not.
  18. I realize that. I thought fixing the terrible service would sort of go without saying. Of course the most important fix is rotating the bar back the right way.
  19. My family and I made it back to GF for homecoming last year. We had not been back since before the flood. I spent most of the 80's and part of the 90's knocking em back at whiteys. We where pretty disappointed with the two meals we had at whiteys during the visit. The food wasn't very good, and the service was terrible. In part, I blame the magnetic flux lines emanating from the horseshoe bar. They installed the bar 90 degrees out of alignment after the flood, and the entire universe has been screwed up ever since. I hope they reopen whiteys, but they need to go back to the old menu and of course, rotate the bar if they want to succeed.
  20. This is just another example of the wacky ego of Gerry Groenewold at work. The representatives didn't come up with this on their own.
  21. I got a call from UND right after the SBOHE killed the name. I told the solicitor that I would not be donating at that time. I explained to the student that I understood it was not the school or the students who had decided to retire the name, but since I didn't have a means of withholding funding from the SBOHE, I would withhold money from the University until it got the state boards attention. I am not saying I won't go back to contributing to my alma mater, but I won't be writing that check any time soon.

    EERC News

Late to the party on this one, but are you a current or former employee of the EERC? I myself am a former employee. I think you hit the EERC climate right on the head.
