  1. They lost all 6 of their top scorers, 5 to graduation and Patrick Russell signed. Lindgren also signed.
  2. Best of luck gentlemen. SCSU was thoroughly outplayed by UND in St. Cloud so I'm not terribly hopeful for my guys. I know UND fans are worried about inconsistency but I have watched nearly every Sioux game and every Husky game this season. I can assure you SCSU has been even more inconsistent. On the other hand, if SCSU doesn't get at least one win this weekend they can pretty much cash in for the year. Bob better have them pumped. I considered briefly making a DaveK-esque troll post, but I actually have some modicum of self-respect, at least as much as an SCSU fan can.
  3. I know I am already on the list, but I have a buddy who also wants one so put me down for 2.
  4. Maybe it's spreading the fan bases too thin, but having the "Midwest" regional at the X and the "West" regional in Fargo or Sioux Falls would be ideal. UND as host saves whichever location they bid, Minnesota as host won't make the tournament, but they can always throw some combination of Duluth, SCSU, Mankato to the Xcel and it won't be as bad as the typical Midwest regional. Doesn't matter where they put that Midwest regional, it's always abysmal attendance wise. Cinci, Toledo, Grand Rapids, it matters not which teams qualify, no one goes. The committee has bent over backwards to make sure Notre Dame, Miami, or Michigan is placed in those cities and attendance is only nominally up in those years.

  6. To be fair, SCSU has done their share of choking away 3rd period leads as well. They were up 3-1 both nights against Duluth and lost both games 5-3, with an ENG icing it for Duluth both nights. I do agree that goaltending is the biggest weakness for SCSU. I think SCSU could be very good on the back end come March, but the D is very young and has been exposed multiple times this year. Despite all the losses to going pro and graduation, the offense has generally held their own.
  7. The FSN broadcast was even better. Doug calls a decent game but the back to back comebacks were even more enjoyable with Gopher homers on the TV call.
  8. Much to the chagrin of the fan base, Coach Berry opted for the 6 AM practice.
  9. Not that anyone is really concerned, but I can confirm that this is the case. SCSU pushed to make it a home-and-home with Minnesota every other year instead of a home series with Minnesota once every four years. Year One: Play Minnesota in first round of North Star Cup (No other series with Minnesota) Year Two: No North Star Cup (Home-and-home with Minnesota) Year Three: Play BSU/UMD/MSUM in first round of North Star Cup (Series at Minnesota) Year Four: Play BSU/UMD/MSUM in first round of North Star Cup (Home-and-home with Minnesota)
  10. This is correct. The NCHC might choose to protect the top overall seed in the Frozen Faceoff (although they didn't last year when UND played the night game and SCSU failed to qualify), but I doubt the NCAA cares about such things. I'd imagine UND will be in the late game at Scheels Arena, but who knows?

  12. Prochno is out this weekend and likely a few more weekends to come. He should be the only injury for SCSU going into the weekend. So far, SCSU's top 4 D-men (including Prochno) have pretty much played every game with some combination of Storm, Rabey, and Nevalainen taking the final two spots. With Prochno out, expect all 3 of the aforementioned guys to play this weekend.
  13. For what it's worth SCSU recently upgraded their broadcast equipment and the quality of the feed is excellent. Great picture and I haven't experienced any buffering issues all season.
  14. Charter airs the games and owns the broadcast rights. Charter isn't in the Twin Cities, but Comcast airs the Charter feed there for SCSU home games. No idea as to why they wouldn't charge Midco and let them broadcast the game.
  15. SCSU has a high quality web feed for 8-9 dollars per game. I wouldn't be surprised if Midco picked up the Charter feed like they did in Duluth this weekend.
  16. Saturday is sold out beyond standing room, might have to try Craigslist or Stub Hub. Plenty of seats still left for Friday through scsuhuskies.com
  17. I will be at the games this weekend and I will take that bet. I don't actually think SCSU will sweep, but 10 dollars to win 89? My kind of odds.
  18. I can't guarantee that everyone will have a good time, but I guarantee that you will.
  19. Full disclosure (as many of you know): I am a SCSU fan and am an alum of both of these schools so this is always a fun one for me. In any event, I'll be making the trip on Friday with a Sioux fan. Can hardly contain my excitement this week. A number of downtown bars have shuttles that will take you to and from the Hockey Center. Among them: McRudy's, Howie's, and MC's Dugout. There are more, I just can't remember which ones. As others have noted, MC's Dugout and The Red Carpet (and adjacent martini lounge) are popular spots. Also, I would suggest the White Horse and/or House of Pizza for pregame food and drinks. There are usually a large contingent of Sioux fans in St. Cloud for this series, you'll have a good time.
  20. That's correct, the Sioux will shoot twice at the west end goal/Section 101 end.
  21. You avoid some fees by calling the SCSU ticket office directly.
  22. The end result makes SCSU look like a "like-minded institution".
