  1. Was he not given an opportunity to play in the USHL, or was this a decision based on more playing time? I would think you would want to face the best competition if your goal is to play D1. Not saying that the NAHL hasn't produced its share, but if given the opportunity, I would opt for the league that is one step removed from the college ranks.

I was wondering the same thing. However Ben Bishop has done pretty good for Maine and he came out of the NAHL.

  2. Okposo is a recruit I will admit to being jealous about. Just from what you read about his game he sounds like a stud. His stock seemed to rise at a rapid clip this past year.

Okposo will be the WCHA rookie of the year.

I saw him play a couple of times with Shattuck. I thought he was the best player on the ice during the couple of games I saw. That team included Toews.

  3. I now feel like Steve Martin in The Jerk:

Navin R. Johnson: The new phone book's here! The new phone book's here!

Harry Hartounian: Boy, I wish I could get that excited about nothing.

Navin R. Johnson: Nothing? Are you kidding? Page 73 - Johnson, Navin R.! I'm somebody now! Millions of people look at this book everyday! This is the kind of spontaneous publicity - your name in print - that makes people. I'm in print! Things are going to start happening to me now.

This one would have been better for you to say:

Navin R. Johnson: Well I'm gonna to go then. And I don't need any of this. I don't need this stuff, and I don't need you. I don't need anything except this.

    [picks up an ashtray]

Navin R. Johnson: And that's it and that's the only thing I need, is this. I don't need this or this. Just this ashtray. And this paddle game, the ashtray and the paddle game and that's all I need. And this remote control. The ashtray, the paddle game, and the remote control, and that's all I need. And these matches. The ashtray, and these matches, and the remote control and the paddle ball. And this lamp. The ashtray, this paddle game and the remote control and the lamp and that's all I need. And that's all I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one - I need this. The paddle game, and the chair, and the remote control, and the matches, for sure. And this. And that's all I need. The ashtray, the remote control, the paddle game, this magazine and the chair.

    [walking outside]

Navin R. Johnson: And I don't need one other thing, except my dog.

    [dog barks]

Navin R. Johnson: I don't need my dog.

    ;);)

  4. But I have a question is he Kessell staying or is he going to the pros for a year or two before being out of hockey entirely. Just curious.

Where are all these Gopher Dum%asses coming from on this sight. I think they have their own places they can go and talk about their beloved Goofs. The think the Goofs are the best hockey program in the country, but yet we have 7 and they have 5 national titles. So they can go away now and Shut Up about Kessell being the next coming of God. He has one move he is good, but I will take Oshie or Toews anyday over Kessell.

I don't have PCM's dog, so I will try this...

  5. I found these little bits on a Blackhawks Fan Blog.

To answer some of the previous fitness questions, Toews was walking around without his shoulder pads or jersey before taking the ice and this kid has an NHL body already. He was totally ripped, and no I am not ######.
Toews jumped right in and seemed like he was leading his group of players.

I talked with Towes and asked him where he thought he would be playing this year and he seemed excited and hopeful. Maybe he has a legit chance to make the squad! He definitely does not look like a sophmore in college except for the babyface.
  6. Anyone else bored with Kessel, did everyone see his last quote, not his dream to play college hockey, but it is his dream to play with the NHL. I supppose T-Don is happy with that one. I also heard he was quoted as saying college is boring. I think the kid is an @$$ if you ask me and I am disappointed in the Bruins for Drafting him.

Every kid who plays hockey dreams of playing in the NHL, not college hockey. Kessel is just the only one dumb enough to say it.

  7. What happened to Tysen Dowzak from Fergus Falls. He was supposed to be a sure high round pick, and as of now (thru pick# 151) he hasn't been picked. (Unless I missed him).

  8. Going back to the post that started this thread, what jumps out:

    - Genoway is playing D --> 8 defensemen.

    - Forney is coming now --> 14th forward. Michael, I hope you're ready for the WCHA.

    - Trupp is still a 2007 recruit.

    - Hunter Bishop is reported to be coming this fall --> 15th forward, just as speculated.

On other topics, the question was, "what if Parise leaves?"

    The answer is Anthony Grieco.

Tune in again tomorrow for "As the Roster Turns".

    But...what if Toews leaves? :silly:

  9. Since the Parise thread is closed, I will put this here.

This is from "Quick Facts" from The Minnesota Hockey Journal.

    Rumors of Parise Departure Premature:

However, according to his father JP Parise, "At this time, there has not been any contact or negotiation with any (NHL) team." Parise pointed out, correctly, that CBA terms dictate that no North American free agents (Parise is undrafted) can be signed prior to the July 1st deadline.

"If something that would make financial sense came Jordan
  10. More on Hunter Bishop from the Sioux Blog.

"North Dakota has been my dream school," Bishop said. "It's a beautiful college. They keep up with the grass and the parks. Everything is real close on campus, too. The business program also is something I've looked into. It's just a great program. Then when I saw the rink, that place is unbelievably nice. It's a dream to play in a rink like that. I loved every bit of my visit."
  11. well said Dar - It has been Fun to see Greene & Commie in the play offs & now playing for the cup - But I'd take a solid bunch of hard workers that have a shot at the NCAA Title - Greene & Commie & Parises & other pro prospects have not give us one in a long time - close but that only counts in Darts - Hand grenedes - Horseshoes & makin luv :silly::D..... :D

Commodore gave "us" a title in 2000. That is not that long ago.

  12. That makes a lot of sense...I would bet that is the "recruit" that Suze was alluding to.

So Shea Hamilton. He would have to sit out a year for transferring, then he would be eligible the fall of 07. From what I remember about him, he has a heck of a shot. We'll have to see I guess.

I see he is from Manitoba, so that could explain the quotation marks around Alaska.
