Story on Michael Forney from the In-Forum.

There are sleezeballs at every school. Where he attended school had nothing to do with this.

Freshman jersey numbers, from Schlossman's blog.
It appears the rookies will be wearing these numbers:5 -- Chay Genoway
11 -- Darcy Zajac
18 -- Michael Forney
19 -- Hunter Bishop
29 -- Chris VandeVelde
...and Alaska Anchorage transfer Shea Hamilton, who will have to sit out this year, was wearing 15.

Belfour not joining F-M Jets after all
Goaltender Dayn Belfour, the son of NHL legend and former University of North Dakota standout Grant Belfour, will play for the Winkler Flyers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League this season.
Belfour had committed to play for the North American Hockey League

Anything found in the mail yet?
I got mine last Saturday. (9/9)

INCH has their top 20 incoming freshman up.
3.Michael Forney
North Dakota Thief River Falls H.S.
The jump from high school to college is a big one, but Forney has skills that are said to be in the same league as T.J. Oshie, a Sioux teammate who made that leap look easy last year.
I like the sounds or that.

I've heard that Dayn Belfour will not play for the FM Jets this year...

If Wheeler were drafted where everyone else in the hockey world thought he'd be drafted (between 20th overall and the last pick in the first round), I'd say he was right on par with the selection and no one would really use Wheeler as a poster child for anything.
I don't think the draft has anything to do with how players will play in college. Look at that same 2004 draft, Zajac went 20th and Chucko went 24th. At the time, I don't think the expectations were any different for the two of them, and look how that played out.
Back to this season, I would be happy with 20 point seasons from any (or all) of the freshman forwards.

T.J. played 11 games for the USHL Sioux Falls Stampede his senior year of high school.
He really could have used another year in the USHL.
-
Robby Philipp? Forney's teammate in TRF and will play for the FM Jets this year.

and its TOEWS
Doh! fixed.

How about this one. Who will score more?
Toews vs. Wheeler
Oshie vs. Hirsh
Duncan vs. Gordon
Porter vs. Stoa
Kozek vs. Howe
Watkins vs. Okposo
Lee vs. Goligoski
I don't know the Gophers, Their returners don't have very good stats, but that doesn't mean those guys won't have break out years.
Toews
Oshie
Ducan
Stoa
Kozek
Okposo (I think he will be the WCHA rookie of the year)
Goligoski

I can't believe that no one has noticed that our new coach has something in common with a pretty good recruit. Hopefully it will help land him.
This is just message board speculation to throw out there.
I assume this is a brother, Evan Bloodoff.
Evan Bloodoff is expected to play in Kelowna with the WHL's Rockets after turning heads all last season in the KIJHL at the tender age of fifteen. He was drafted 2 places after David Toews.

I don't think Johnson would want to be a asst coach - He has it pretty good where he is at
He wanted it...

I thought it was the Canisus hockey team.
Here is a link, apparently Malkin has gone awol. Malkin Missing.
Canisius played in the WJC?

Not sure but I think Finley was also 16 when he committed. Love Danny's stats. With a couple more inches and a few more pounds, he should be ready to fill those empty spots our current talent will be leaving in 2009.
Finley was a late addition to last years class, so he was 17 or 18.
Schlossman's blog has a bit on Danny Kristo.

"Word along the grapevine has it that Eden Prairie forward Danny Kristo, a very talented young forward that is headed off to the NTDP, will be joining the North Dakota Flickertails for college. The Gophers were also very high on Kristo so this is a very good pick up for North Dakota. Congrats to him and good luck (except against the "U" that is!)."
Great pick up if true. Would he be an '09?

Everyone on campus needs to show Jonathan a ton of appreciation this season. After all, could any of us have walked away from close to $1M dollars at barely 18 years of age.

To clarify then, there's no question the Blackhawks strongly considered signing you. But they never did offer you a contract. That's right.
I know what you are saying though, no question that he would have gotten rookie max if an offer had been made.

Note on Lee: Hockeysfuture is dead on with Lee's weaknesses but only to a certain extent. Lee isn't physical enough, but he should not be expected to be as physical as Smaby, Greene, or any of those defensive defensemen types. Positionally, he's as good as anyone on the Sioux, but his greatest asset are the assets listed in that blurb from hockeysfuture. If I could choose any defenseman on the Sioux to start the offensive rush when the game was on the line, I'd choose Lee. Sure, it is tough considering how good Chorney was last season, but I think Lee is the man when it comes to that.
As for Brady Murray: IMO (because I can't seem to figure out how to find out this type of information) I'd think that Brady's entering his final year (now until June 1, 2007) of his Kings ownership status. If he doesn't get signed by the LA Kings by June 1, 2007, then he becomes a Free Agent. As for the Swiss league, I thought it was widely assumed to be a more defensive league? I don't know. I am just not sure that Brady made the best choice by leaving UND for that league.
Yippee...it is getting to the time of the year when coach/scout Redwing comes out and shows his superior hockey knowledge.

Tough to believe that only 2 of the freshmen are younger than him (Grieco and Forney).
-
It is getting more official...
I brought up the Phil Kessel situation, where there first were reports that he was staying, then more that he may be going, and back, and forth and so on. Toews said "There's no turning back now," about his decision to return. It's final. From the Sioux Hockey Extra blog.

Opinion out of Chicago is that there is no longer enough CAP room to sign Toews anyway. He is coming back. With about $6 million left in cap space and Tuomo Ruutu still unsigned, the Blackhawks may allow first-round draft pick Jonathan Toews to return to the University of North Dakota this season rather than sign him. - Chicago Tribune
Sounds good, but I will wait until I see him in a Sioux jersey.

Beat me to it. That is how I remember it too.
