  4. WARNING...WARNING...Very bad joke.
  5. I believe it was Sunday's column.
  6. Thanks Dean. Maybe he will get a shot in the big leagues now.
  7. I haven't seen that he has signed anywhere but Sid seems to think he has. From Sid's column: Agent Brian Lawton has negotiated a new contract for former Gophers winger Erik Rasmussen with New Jersey. Lawton also handled the deal for former North Dakota star Brandon Bochenski of Blaine, who left the Sioux to sign with Ottawa.

    WCHA standings

Not eye-popping, but very solid. I believe they broke (along with UND) the WCHA record for least goals against.
  9. Good write up in today's Forum. WARROAD, Minn. - Calvin C. Marvin, who was inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame for his 50 years of work with the sport, died at his home early Sunday. He was 80. Marvin, whose family owns and operates Marvin Windows and Doors, established Warroad as "Hockeytown USA.," with Olympians, professional standouts and amateur stars coming out of the town of less than 2,000 residents. "My dad made a humongous impact on the hockey world," said his son, John Marvin, 36. "His love for our town and the growth of hockey in our town was unmatched." Cal Marvin was the youngest of five sons of lumber magnate George Marvin, who went into business in 1907. Cal Marvin went into the resort and restaurant business. His brother, Bill, was longtime chairman and chief executive officer of Marvin Windows. In the late 1940s, Cal Marvin founded the fabled Warroad Lakers, a senior league team of post-collegiate stars that skated with the best in the world. The Lakers played host to touring national teams from Canada, Finland, Sweden and other hockey powers. The Lakers won the Allan Cup _ senior hockey's equivalent of the Stanley Cup _ in 1994, 1995 and 1996. The team folded in the late 1990s. "These were amateur guys, guys with jobs and families," Marvin told the Star Tribune of Minneapolis in April 2003. "They got a few bucks for dinner and piled into cars and buses for long road trips. "We laugh sometimes when they talk on TV about how hard it is for the pro teams to play three nights' running. Hell, when we played for the Allan Cup, we had to play five nights straight if we were lucky enough to win." Marvin also helped found the men's hockey program at the University of North Dakota. He was studying at UND in 1946 when he and Dan McKinnon of Williams approached the athletic director to get a hockey team going at the university. For more than 38 years, Marvin also wrote a weekly back-page column for the Warroad Pioneer newspaper. He wrote about the goings-on in the northern Minnesota town that's a stone's throw from the Canadian border. Topics included the arrival of new babies, fund-raisers and anything else that caught his attention. He had said it was his way of trying to show there was more to life than hockey. Marvin and his wife celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last month. The couple raised 12 children. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Gardens Arena, 707 Elk St. NW., Warroad.

Yeah, that's who I was thinking of...my bad.

    WCHA standings

Very tight top 5-6 teams. 1. UND, UMD and UW. All 3 of these teams will be very good. UMD and UW should be able to score. If UND can score, they will win the McNaughton again. 4. C.C. They have 2 solid Goalies and good D. Also have a pretty good incoming call. 5. UM. Lost alot, but should still stay at home for the playoffs. 6. Denver. Big suprise last year, could they do it again? 7. SCSU. They will start off hot and fall apart by Jan.-Feb. 8. MTU. They still have Connor. They also add a new goon, who can score (supossedly). 9. MSU-M. Not as bad as UAA. 10. UAA. Lost most of their talent from last year (including the new pro superstar, Fournier). Less than a month until the Manitoba game...drop the puck.

    FSSN, WDAZ?

Last year all of games were on Ch. 7 in Fargo.
  13. I agree. Same being said about Bochenski You can't lose players of that caliber and say that you are better off.
  14. Most Gopher fans have given up hope on seeing Vanek with the M on his chest this year.
  15. While searching for news on Bochenski signing, I found this. Jason Ulmer Signs
  16. Didn't this happen to RJ Umberger (sp?) from Ohio State a year or two ago? He left school early to get signed and Vancouver (I think) never signed him. Hopefully Bo will get a contract soon.

    MN Elite Tourny

ONCE AGAIN...this is a message board for Sioux Sports, not high school hockey. I realize that the Sioux recruit high school kids, which is why this thread was started. But these threads are always ruined by a couple of posters. That is why the other High School hockey threads were shut down. As myself and many other posters have suggested, there are plenty of high school hockey websites or make your own website.

Which is...players who are signed with the Sioux.
  19. I think he heard you the first time.
  20. POI is saying that Vanek is not registered for fall classes either. (Although I think they start classes late) Are all other Sioux players (Jones and Greene) in class?

  24. Last week I had 6 emails from SiouxSports about changing my password. Today between 2:32 and 2:35, I received 21 of the same emails from SiouxSports. The funny thing is, I don't want my password changed. Which leads me to believe someone is trying to get my password. Last weeks came after I questioned/argued with The Zietz. He has since been banned. Today's email came just minutes after I posted a sarcastic post about #1siouxfan22. I am not pointing finger...just seems a little fishy. I know I am not the only one with this problem, as a friend of mine (schmidtdoggydog) had 26 of the same emails last week. Is there anything that can be done about this?
