I wish it was 6 seconds left in the 3rd period.

Thank you seniors. Thank you Watkins for your hard work and heart. Thank you Kozek for providing me with some unbelievable memories and goals. Just for reminiscing sake: I remember a game (IIRC Kozek was a freshman) against MTU where you absolutely crushed big 6'6 John Scott against the boards, calmly skated out to between the dots and scored a sniper goal. Simply awesome. Thank you Walski for being another example of a great teammate much like the Lee Marvins or Scott Foyts. Never really stuck as far as playing time, you served to make Eidsness and JPL even better shouldering the load. Thank you Finley for being a big presence on the ice. For being big. For giving the haters someone to focus their attention on (). I'll miss you the most because you are so consistent and very noticeable when you're unable to play. Thank you Jones for being the unheard, unmentioned rock on the blue line. Thank you Miller for being huge off the ice and making it translate onto the ice. Your flexibility and teamwork ability is what the logo is all about. Thank you Duncan for your leadership. Your "spot" in the circle will never look the same without you sniping away. Thank you Martens for being a great all around influence. Your hard work and determination was inspirational.

Not if you anticipate a sophomore slump. It happened with Kangas. It happened with Bachman. I'm not sure about Stalock because his team last year wasn't very good to begin with. Oh, it also happened with Muse from BC.
-
Maybe. God it would be AWESOME to have a BSU/AFA NC game. ESPN would have a stroke. Maybe they'd not televise it or try to renegotiate the contract of broadcasting to provide for broadcasting only if at least one of the schools is "big" (like BC, BU, Michigan, ND, MSU, UW, Minnesota, maybe UND)

And you seem to think that I believe the SIOUX can do no wrong. I don't. I don't think that it is fair or appropriate to CONSISTENTLY AND CONSTANTLY RAIL individual players on a team you supposedly root for. If posters here "don't blame X for the loss" then why do they rail on him so much instead of railing on the team for choking away the game? Because they want to blame SOMEONE for the loss and there's Finley...whose game was poor, for sure, but it stood out because some posters here decided almost from day FREAKING ONE that Finley sucked. I have no problem with railing on the SIOUX as a TEAM. But pointing fingers at individual players over and over and over again? Nope. Sorry. I'll stand up for that player EVERY SINGLE TIME. No matter how aggravating or annoying I get.

If BSU knocks off ND (or did they?) Then my prediction will be true: BU walks away with it in one of the easiest treks in recent memory.

Big A - NO EFFING WAY will Genoway be criticized. The guy has made some great plays over his 3 years here and is a fan favorite. He wasn't drafted. Finley was a first round pick and therefore, should have been Dion Phaneuf/JMFJ/EJ/Pronger/Chara all rolled into one. And yea, I'll go as far as to say Genoway or any of the other D could have skated around the perimeter scoping out the chicks while Finley was left high and dry and Finley still would have been crucified. Well, Finley has one thing going for him though: At least he's not Brian Lee. (FYI- For those of you tired of hearing about it, I'll NEVER stop bringing it up until posters here tire of throwing players under the bus when the team blows it big time. Finley had a bad game. Wow. So did the team otherwise they would have WON THE GAME). siouxperseven - Yup. MARK MY WORDS: Finley WILL play in the NHL. I don't know for which team or how long it will take for him to reach the pros, but Washington drafted two big D in the first round that year and Finley is the ONLY one they talk about. The other, Pakaluk (out of Cornell) has been rather quiet. Hmmm... I'll take Finley 10 times out of 10 opportunities over Pakaluk. Heh. Cornell didn't even recruit his brother.
-
I think the fact that a Gopher fan is hating on Finley makes Finley even more valuable for the Sioux. As for where he'll land? Unquestionably it will be with the Caps farm club. I don't think Washington ever expected Finley to progress enough even over 4 years to make it directly to the pros. He's got 2-3 seasons in the minors before he'll see regular NHL action. Oh, and go ahead and predict he'll never make it. Just like Brian Lee will never make it... or that Roche will be a lock for the pros. He was drafted as a project. Everyone said so. And, unlike the haters here, Washington likes him. They tried for two straight seasons to convince him to sign early. And since, Finley is a senior, he's not an early departure. That is only wishful thinking for the haters. As for VV, I agree.

I don't read Brad's comment section anymore. All they do is blast Sioux players, Finley or otherwise. I really wish Brad would only selectively open comment sections and be almost a dictator about moderation.
-
bounces? Bah. That might explain one goal... but giving up 3 unanswered, including the OT goal? Sorry. That's choke.
-
Stop talking and your apology will be accepted. Finley didn't single handledly choke on a 2 goal lead. UND lost the game. Not Finley. If you do want to blame him though, that's fine. Let the haters have one last hurrah. It will be interesting to see who is the whipping boy next year though. Finley is gone. Genoway might have sucked today too, but he's too much of a fan favorite. LaPoint? Well.... all the pieces are there but there is a sympathetic side to his case and he did do a pretty good job on the PK... Blood? Fienhage? OH! MacWilliam! Big, bruiser. Sure to take untimely penalties. Maybe he'll be the next Finley. I don't know. Guess the haters have all off season to cook something up. I can't wait to see what they come up with.
-
I would put Genoway's departure at about 5%. He didn't do anything today to show he's ready for the next level. VV is gone. Don't know what more he could have done today. I say bring in Knight to replace VV. If UND needs a bench player (someone a lot like Davidson...comes in and plays here and there) then bring in Fink or Rowney. Yeah, I know Rowny may not be a bench player, but I thought the same thing about Martens and he became pretty good in the end. I blindly forecast Rowney as another Martens. As for Fink, I don't mean to be down on the guy, but he's either injured or a nonfactor in the USHL. It's hard to say what value he'll be at all at the DI level. If UND is going to need a more steady player than that, then bring back Forney . I know Mattson is the bigger name and the bigger talent, but I say let him mature a year in juniors first.

I don't. All of the last two seasons, every time Miami was on the ice, the term "Powerhouse" was used to describe them at least 3 times per game. They've done nothing. They've won ONE game in their NCAA Regional lives, and that was yesterday. I have no love for UMD, but I'd rather them win than the Miami Redtards. In any case, I think, stats wise, I'm happy UND showed up for almost 2.25 periods. UNH showed up for 3 + OT. No wonder why they won. Next year, we'll put in 3 periods. This year, the team has no one else to blame but themselves. They blew it big time. BU is owning OSU (no surprise there) and I bet they pound UNH. BU walks to the Frozen Four. And I predict they take it all too.
-
I'm going for UMD. Couple of reasons. 1. I still maintain that DU choked and Miami is a fluke team that is really not FF material. 2. The better UMD does the more likely Stalock bolts. No offense to Dog fans or Sandelin, but he makes me nervous when the Sioux play UMD. I mean, like Reichmuth when he was good kind of nervous.

If so... Hey Gopherz, I'm starting a pool..... Seriously, Stoa isn't going to need much adjustment to the Avs system. They're basically Gopher clones. Team built on offense with no defense and crappy goaltending... ok, so it's slightly worse than the Gophers. At least Kangas actually is decent.
-
Miami is the SCSU of the CCHA. DU just lost to Miami. Doing the math... Be proud, DU. Really. Good for you all. I'm sure some paper sacks are available still if you do want to wear your DU jersey one last time this year. As for AFA/UMich, good for AFA. Seriously, AFA has a good chance at the Frozen Four. I don't like Vermont or Yale. In fact, both are VERY beatable.

How many Cherokee tribes support the FSU nickname? How many Chippewa tribes support the CMU nickname? Honestly, I'm not sure.
-
I'm still proud of the boys. Face it. We downright sucked at the beginning of the season. I thought ending the season in 7th would be a great accomplishment at one point. Then we turned it around. Sure, not winning in the NCAAs would suck hardcore, but maybe I'm just setting myself up to not feel bad if we pull a 2008 Chicago Cubs.
-
Doesn't it suck knowing exactly what is going to go down before it happens? I mean... I just can't see the Hawks going beyond round 2 either! And it's going to be inexperience and poor goaltending that ends the ride. As for STL making the playoffs.... I'd laugh SO HARD. Why? Because to do so would basically mean leapfrogging Minnesota and Columbus. In my opinion, Edmonton, Minny, Columbus, and STL are all fighting to be first round exits. Sometimes I wonder if it is really worth it? If I were Minny, I'd try to experiment to bring ANY kind of offense to the team and defense be damned. If they lose, they lose. If they find something that works, great! Lemaire has nothing to lose anyway. He has almost nothing to work with thanks to DR's blindness. If anyone of the four is the most dangerous, it's Columbus. They have a good young goaltender and some offense. The last time a team had that kind of look was the Carolina team that won it all. Now, I don't think Columbus will win it all. However, NHL Network and ESPN would have strokes if they did. However, I think they have the most dynamic and balanced team of the four. STL would be the second. Minny's still got incredible defense. I don't think Edmonton will hold on. They don't have much of anything.

I don't know how good of a pro McBain is going to be. Sure, he's great offensively, but he wasn't very solid in his own zone. McDonagh is the UW defenseman that could go college to NHL direct really. McBain will take adjustment. I don't know if he'll make the NHL on a regular basis any time soon. I predict he takes a similar track to the NHL that Smaby is taking, despite the differences between Smaby and McBain's games.

Frustrating to think that Khabibulin has the ability to be the guy in Chicago but hasn't done it. Huet has made some dazzling saves but sometimes I wonder if it isn't just sheer luck with some of the dud goals he's given up, often in the same game. As for Detroit, you're right.... on paper. Osgood has been downright scary bad this year. At one point (and it may still be) he had worse numbers than Turco, and that's saying something
-
He's a 4th round draft pick of San Jose in the 2005 draft. What will be interesting is to see if Stalock comes back for his senior year.
-
My keys to the game: 1. Keep on the pressure and take shots at good times. We've tended to take 1 too many passes as of late. 2. Stay out of the box. 3. UW stays out of the box. Our PP is scary.... as in HOLY CRAP THEY'RE BAD. Stick to 5 on 5 and 4 on 4 hockey and then go with #1 and we'll do fine.
