  1. Anyone know the record of the Gophers in the new Ralph?
  2. If ANderson is reffing? Greene logs in more penalty box time than ice time if Anderson is reffing. But yes, Greene will occupy the penalty box at least once each game. Out of curiosity, has Greene ever had a penalty free game at UND? NOTE: I'm not calling Matt a dirty player or a burden on the team. He just has had a bad freshman campaign and developed a reputation.
  3. Here are my predictions. I've decided to be optimistic instead of truly safe, so I'm saying Sioux take 3. Things that I'll look for: 1. Ryan Potulny will be a mite cautious when Greene's on the ice with him 2. I don't think it will be Sheperd officiating, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Anderson. He and Campion haven't officiated yet this season to my knowledge. 3. I don't think these games are going to be high scoring. But I do think Minny will have a minimum of 5 more power plays than we will. 4. Our powerplay will get one if any goals for the weekend (still a problem). 5. The only way Minny will score on us on the power play is if the refs give them 5x3s. 6. Brandt on Friday/ JPar on Saturday. I say Brandt on Friday because he happens to be the most rested goaltender we've got. Lammy backs up both nights. 7. I think both Minny and UND are even offensively, but I think UND has the edge defensively. Briggs will be tested early and often, but he should do well. JJ in nets = easy UND 2 pts.
  4. 10 to 1 that prom one won't get through security... if it does Friday, it wont Saturday. I'd hold signs but no one would be able to read it.
  5. Why not? They may have not earned a victory, but it wasn't a blow out either. They hung around with us pretty good and, at various points, actually seemed better than us. I think the 1 vote was well earned. It could also grow if they beat a few more teams.
  6. Ok, I understand the need every once in a while to rib our rivals' fans, but is this really necessary? The Bison are no longer our concern and, even though 1234 has been a useless tool in the past, he really hasn't said much of anything considered blatently inflamatory. Save your flames to those who deserve it like "State of Hockey" and every once in a while "TC Transplant". They at least root for a team that still is our rival.
  7. Ah the Gopher series. Well, folks, it's not going to be as easy as Maine. If Mankato can give us that much grief, then Minny will give us that much more. I don't know what to predict about next weekend, but right now I'm just worried about getting seats. I may be able to get tickets but I will not be able to get in line very early on either nights. If anyone can help me get the seat I want (anywhere in the first two rows of section 308) for Friday and possibly Saturday (helping a friend with his tailgating equipment after the football game), I'd much appreciate it.
  8. I think Greene has learned from his freshman campaign, but I think it is his freshman campaign that is hurting him now. Refs don't forget who they called the most any given year and that seems to follow those players until they graduate. I'm not saying that they'll continue getting as many calls every year, but they won't get away with nearly as much as other players who weren't called that much. For example, I watched Commodore play his final season with the Sioux. He got called not nearly as much as his first two years, but there were some calls that were clearly borderline that wouldn't get called even if his linemate had committed them (I can't remember who was on his line in 1999-2000). Greene is going to get hounded this year. Add that into the new rules and it's not good for Matt. He's not a stupid hockey player, just an unfortunate one. As for this weekend and this game: MUCH less penalties than I expected. I was kind of amazed that there were only 10 or so penalties on the Sioux tonight. Usually I would have expected about 5 more than that with the new rulings. Lammy had a great game. It shows that, even when the Sioux are running flat footed, they can still lean on their goaltender to keep them in the game. Sioux offense - Not a good showing. We need to find more ways to finish if we are going to take even 2 points from Minny next week. That being said, so far it's been a season of unusual and freshmen goal scorers (with the exception of Stafford and Murray). Massen, McMahon, and Fylling aren't even close to the offensive core of the team, but when these players show up, play hard, and take what shots they get, eventually they will be rewarded. Defensively, folks, we are not that bad. In fact, I think we're still living up to the hype. Special teams wise, unless you are speaking penalty kill, is still a problem. We can't leave the offense entirely on Spirko, Stafford, and Murray folks. Everyone needs to step up.
  9. As far as I can tell last night, Brandt, Canady, Marvin, Radke, and Moreland didn't dress.
  10. Interesting observation about Brandt. If it weren't for JPar, we would have lost. That's why we're going to go with Brandt in the big games down the stretch... does that make sense? Everyone is saying it so I will repeat it: Sioux goaltending is what kept this game at the level of 'embarrasing' instead of what a loss would be (humiliating).
  11. The Mankato announcers and the Sioux announcers agreed with each other. From the 2nd period onward, the Mavs owned the Sioux.
  12. Tie.. If I were a UND coach, this is as good as a loss. If I were a Mankato fan, this is as good as a win. Poor play by UND. Good job Mavs. Whoops, UND. Maybe tommorrow you'll come to play.
  13. Wow. Is this the same team that beat Maine twice? Right now, in Mankato's locker room they are saying "We can beat these guys!" And I would too. We have to play better than this. WAY better. The Mavs are outplaying us. Their inability to finish is basically what's keeping this from a loss.
  14. Sometimes. The radio is fading in and out as well. The announcers said that there were some technical difficulties.
  15. Dude, turn your capslock off
  16. Gift goals. In any case, Zajac with his first! YAY!
  17. How could you hope one of our freshmen does better than the others?
  18. Just because Manitoba is Vancouver's farm affiliate doesnt mean it has to be in BC. If that were true, then Minnesota would have an AHL affiliate somewhere instead of it being in Houston, TX.
  19. Didn't feel like adding a new topic. Stafford named ITECH/USCHO Player of the Week
  20. A good mantra I use is: If it's not on FSN, FSSN, or CSTV, it's not on TV unless in the local market of the team. With webcast being pushed so hard, you won't see away games on FSSN at all, IMO. The only games you will see that are away are those appearing on CSTV, like Maine, and those appearing on FSN, like Minnesota (if we play in Minny). Occasionally FSN will air the Wisconsin game, but not too often.
  21. I'm shooting around this crazy theory that states: The more played on the road early in the season, the more home games late in the season. Is this true or just typica RW77 hogwash?
  22. Yes, Kaip was drafted in the 9th round by Atlanta in 2003.
