    Ziggy

I think what it came down to was eligibility. Ziggy won't lose a year by transferring, correct? I'm not sure if Ziggy could have gone back to the USHL or whatnot for a year. Sioux #805: What the hell are you talking about?

    Ziggy

Now that there will be only two goaltenders on the roster next season, I wonder if we're going to keep it that way or if we will recruit another goalie?
  3. WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?
  4. Need some clarification here on the Betty: Are they still planning on playing most of the BB games in the Ralph and just having practices in the Betty? Or are they doing the sane thing in having a few games in the Ralph, but the majority in the Betty? It seems to me that, if you build a new aena, you should PLAY IN IT. From what I've heard, this isn't the case.
  5. They've got JJ They also got a walk on goaltender from the NAHL. It's really interesting because he's only 5'7" tall. Anyways, he was the NAHL Goaltender of the Year, if I recall correctly. Frazee isn't coming in until 2005 so this year, the Goofs have a sieve and a true walk on freshman as goaltending depth. How would you like a team whose depth in that position is overrated and a question mark?

    Walk-ons

Regardless, with Radke coming in, I doubt either Bina or Foyt will get much ice time this season.
  7. I think it makes sense, but is highly unlikely. Bo is too old for MJ. The rationale is that, if Bo became a free agent, the highest bidder would get his services. Services, mind you, that have been far better than projected when he was drafted by the Sens. Therefore, it is possible for him to get much more money than what would normally be allotted for a seventh rounder. Edit: As for Vanek, sagard is right. Bo would benefit more from becoming a free agent than Vanek would because of Bo's performance. Bo was expected to perform like a developmental player befitting a seventh rounder. He has, IMO, exceeded those expectations greatly. Vanek had a great freshman campaign, but his sophomore performance was, at best, lack luster. His stock, if it has moved at all, has probably fallen a little bit. Though the "decline" is very gradual and not too alarming for either party, a decline is still a decline. Bo's stock is rising. Vanek's is stagnating or maybe declining somewhat. For that reason, it is more beneficial for Vanek to either stay in the Twin Cities or jet off to Europe rather than become a free agent. Likewise, Bo's stock is rising, so it would be more beneficial for him to, somehow, become a free agent.

    Walk-ons

I forgot about your flame for Mr. Foyt Glad to see you could correct me though. Maybe he'll get more ice time this year? Though, again, it looks kindof bleak with our D Corps basically unchanged from last year plus the addition of Radke.

    Walk-ons

Foyt, to my knowledge was the only walk on last year. I believe he played in only one game: The exhibition against the U-18 NTDP team. He seemed, from that game, to be sure on his skates. He didn't get too many shots off and those that did were not that great. Plus, he was greatly overshadowed in that game by Robbie Bina. Gosh, all I want now is to see Bina hit someone
  10. I miss David. What a quality guy and a arse-kicking defenseman. I remember when he returned from being injured/sick before he signed. Talk about opponents having 'deer-in-the-headlights' looks. He was blowing everyone out of the rink!
  11. Whichever organization it is, I'm curious if I should feel sorry for them or should I feel amusement at their stupidity?
  12. They don't. UofM, I believe, starts in early-mid September

    Goepfert

I think it is interesting. You have Montgomery, who wasn't all that bad when backing up Moreland and Boron (I think) who is supposed to be a decent backstop. Montgomery has (apparently) been working hard to get the #1 position and then he loses it to Coole. Coole can't hack it/loses interest and Montgomery gets another chance....nope. Now Goepfert. I wonder what's going through Montgomery's head right now. And I thought the year lost thing could be waived by the former club, in this case Providence.
  14. I think everyone is missing the real story. If it were my decision, I'd rewrite the article like this (as a joke, people, this article isn't real): UAA Hockey Star to Transfer to Hamburger University! Anchorage, AK -- University of Alaska - Anchorage star Chris Fournier has decided to leave the University to pursue a new academic track: fast food management. Chris Fournier will be transferring to the world famous Hamburger University in Illinois, also known to many as the training facilities attached to the headquarters of McDonalds. While there, he will learn the art of taste testing various McDonald's food items, crew management, phone etiquette, and free food coupon writing. "It really was a no brainer," claims Fournier, "I love their food more than I love anything else. You can't even get a decent McNugget here [university of Alaska]." Since this program does not feature hockey, Fournier won't have to face eligibility issues when he takes the point on the burger-pass relay squad or the creative burger decorating team. He will transfer in as a junior. ----------- Truth be told, I know relatively little about Fournier, but I too feel bad for Coach Hill. Anyone who has, over the past two seasons, been put through what he has deserves sympathy. As for Chris, the minute he makes the NHL, I need to have a lottery ticket in my hands, because it will be the day I become a lottery winner. Good luck, fatass, don't forget to ask if they want fries with each order!
  15. Is Chris Holt doing what Brady Murray did last season? Meaning, is he becoming a US citizen or whatever? If not, I don't see how he can be on Team USA.
  16. Interesting in how UofM always criticizes us for the overage freshman. Taylr was an old 19year old or young 20 year old as a freshman. As for Koalska, good for him. For me, Gophers are only Gophers until they leave the program, then they are another former college player, which I will support if and when they make the NHL regardless of where they are from. I admit it will be hard to root for Taylor (being as though he is a bit of a thug and, on offense PCM, he's a Ranger).
  17. Todd Jones was just named assistant coach of UNO. THat, though it isn't a new coach (He was an assistant at UAF before UNO), makes yet another former Sioux player who has found himself behind the bench. My question is: How many former UND players are currently among the coaching ranks (Head coach, associate, assistant, or other coaching positions) of DI or higher organizations (pros)? I know all of the current Sioux coaching staff are former Sioux players, Sandelin is coach of UND, Kallay an assistant, Marks a head coach in the ECHL, but who else?
  18. '99-'00 I would have loved to see Hrkac play, but my first Sioux game was around the '95-'96 season, so I can't honestly vote for any season previous to that season. I had the most fun in 1999-2000 though. I'll always remember playing Maine in the semis and how that goaltender of theirs was all about talking about why he kept his helmet white (to be more of a "ghost" on the ice,for whatever that means). Spiewak (I think) gets a goal on the shorthand or just after the penalty expired by shooting the puck into the zone from either just inside or just outside of the blue line. I remember saying "Where's the goalie?" Good times.
  19. I admit to being sortof clueless in this matter, but why do we care what the gopher homers on POI are saying about our coaching staff? I'm very vocal about letting those people just keep preaching to their choir. I only listen to a select few Gopher fans and most of those I mean frequently post here. And besides, let them throw stones at our coaching staff. It will make them think more distracting thoughts away from their defensive and goaltending woes. I mean, is Eades and Hakstol more important to Gopher fans that figuring out what is going to happen now that the defense has been stretched thin and the repeat of last season's lack of depth at goaltending? I mean, if I were a Gopher fan I'd be worried about that. What happens if Briggs gets injured? They've got nobody behind Briggs. I would think that that should dominate their time. Now back to our regularly schedule doldrums waiting for the season to start.
  20. How very "lawyerly" of you to take my words so literally I am sure he is a nice person. I am curious if he will play DI hockey.
  21. I realized that after I posted it. I should edit it to say "With Bo possibly leaving" instead of "With Bo gone" Nevertheless, I wonder if talks stalled and the big loser in this may be Bochenski. Bo wanting a contract, Ottawa offering what resources they are wiling to give to him and Bo's agent unwilling to compromise. Now, this is a big assumption, I know, but if it is true, Bo could be in trouble because the dry land conditioning should be starting very soon.
  22. Neither do I. I've only heard good things about Graalum... but then again, his OLDER sister attends UND. I was in a few courses with her. A very nice girl, as I am sure her brother is as well.
