WTF are you talking about? Redwingsports.com? You're now throwing nonexistant websites at me? Should I be scared?

YOUR CAPS LOCK IS ON!!!!

I'm sorry, but don't lump everyone else, "long time Sioux fan" or otherwise with your opinion. If those "long time Sioux fans" wish to have a problem with a poster or posters on this board, that's fine. Let them speak for themselves. I certainly think that Diggler's sig is perfectly fine. I know what context that is in and I know what kinds of things Diggler posts. He's actually a lot easier to agree with than you are. However, that's not coming from me, that's coming from "other, long time Sioux fans."

What I hope: Chorney makes the Rookie D. Butler has basically sealed the deal for the other D. He leads the WCHA in rookie D scoring. What I expect: Lee makes the Rookie D. Butler is first. Lee is second in freshman scoring as a defenseman.
-
That's right! I think we should get rid of the rules! I mean, that WOULD solve the officiating problems.

I don't know why so many people are comparing Toews and Kessel. Kessel and Toews play two different styles of hockey. Kessel is a playmaker. That's it pure and simple. I guess you could say that only having less than 20 goals when you are supposed to be a goal scorer could be construed as "disappointing." Toews is just a good all around hockey player. He doesn't have all of Kessel's "bells and whistles." To claim either Toews or Kessel as having a "disappointing" year in general would be quite foolish. Both have done quite well. So yeah, I've spoken my peace. I'm with PCM from here on out.
-
I agree. Thanks sagard.

Way to answer my question by not answering my question. PCM- I saw a replay... two replays of the Moore hit on Naslund. One in real time and another in slow motion. In real time, it really did look cheap. But when it was slowed down, it was just a REALLY good hit. I mean, Steve Moore just cleaned Naslund's clock. Period. What I don't remember was how Naslund acted immediately after the hit. Did he crumple to the ice? Did he embellish it? If he embellished it, I can understand why people thought it was cheap as well. No, I don't think Moore deserved what he got or that Bertuzzi should be elevated to a pedestal and blanket forgiven. However, I think there does come a time when hits like this must be put into the past. And, seriously, the Bertuzzi hit was horrible, but it's time to let go.

Maybe so, NDFlyer, but it is highly unlikely that the NCAA will allow fighting. Good or bad, that's just how it is. This means it comes down to what DaveK states: Officials. If the officials allow it to escalate to that point where cheap shots start flying, then bad things happen. So, in your wisdom, what should the NCAA do? They won't allow fighting, so suggest something! Oh, and bear in mind that Greg Shepherd might still ignore it regardless. After all, the crackdown on obstruction was ignored...
-
Oh, I understand DaveK's perspective quite well, though I'm not sure if I'd go so far as to call for the end of fighting in the NHL. It would get rid of my least favorite style of play: the enforcer. But anyways, what I DO understand, is that what DaveK's saying is that the primary reason the official is on the ice is to ensure that the game is played as safe as possible through the enforcement of standardized rules and practices. That's why there are penalties, minor and major. If you take away the officials, the games can get rough or dangerous. My perspective on the whole Paukovich affair has nothing to do with him being a cheap and dirty player. This type of player is NOT new to any team in DI hockey. What disturbs me the most is that there is a consistent lack of accountability in the officials. Why? Because if there was accountability, flaws like we saw last weekend with Anderson shouldn't happen, as the more dangerous officials would be terminated. Therefore, my argument is that Anderson can't even be held responsible for last weekend's actions of Paukovich. The person who is to blame is Greg Shepherd. He allows dangerous and unprofessional officials to be in charge of games. If there were competant officials in the league plus the knowledge that, if the official allows the game to get out of hand and dangerous the official will face serious repercusions, I think the level of gameplay will improve a hundred fold. There is a level of danger even in a well officiated game, but when it is consistently exceeding this level, something needs to be done. Unfortunately, it once again appears as though the only way it will be faced again is if another player gets injured.
-
Anderson is yet another of those who were hired primarily due to his resume and not to his performance record. "Oh, you officiated some AHL/ECHL/minor pro games? Great! You're hired!"

How many of Kessel's points come on the power play? In any case, I think Kessel's the ROTY. I would love it if Oshie won, but I just can't see Kessel NOT getting the award.
-
Props to you, riders06. It's nice to see. Well... Let's start out the "off season" with a question: Which players from around the state are finishing off the year with a Junior team? I know Erick Galt is going to Lincoln (USHL) and Paul Weisgarber is going to FM Jets (NAHL). Are there any others? What about Mihulka?

I have. Lawson did it earlier this year against UND, IIRC. Sometimes goaltenders pull themselves because they don't feel like they've got an edge, like I hope JPar did. Sometimes goaltenders pull themselves because they were hiding an injury and thought they could play only to aggravate it in the game somehow and have to leave. This I hope is NOT the case. This was Jordy's first bad game in a VERY long time.

Evidence suggests, using ATL's line of reasoning, that the only reason why we didn't sweep DU was because Prpich didn't go berserk on Paukovich nearly enough and not nearly early enough in the game. Trust me, take his posts with a grain of salt. Seriously, if what he says is true, then you gotta be elated to be a UAA fan. UAA controls whether they make the tourney just as much as UND does. Nevermind the fact that the only way UAA will make the NCAAs is if they not only win out in the regular season, but win out at the Final 5. That's not being "in control." That's being "in need of a miracle." Sure, it's possible, but it is improbable.

I was thinking more of: "We need to recruit more players that will fill any holes in our depth chart that may arise who are responsible on both ends of the rink." I don't care where they are from.
-
According to Chris Heisenberg's blog, UND has been showing interest in Brad Malone. The 6'3" winger is a 2007 recruit whose cousin is Ryan Malone of the Penguins. He's supposed to be good, but he's also indicated that he'd like to go to school in the Boston area. Just thought I would shoot this out to you all. I'd say we have a slim chance to land this guy.

I figured with the tough loss tonight and the tough road we have to go still to make the regionals, I thought I'd quote some stuff from this site by some famous people to see what you all think. Barclay Plager: "It's not who wins the fight that's important, it's being willing to fight. If you get challenged and renege, everyone wants to take a shot at you." Paul Coffey: "Hockey's a funny game. You have to prove yourself every shift, every game. It's not up to anybody else. You have to take pride in yourself." Stu Grimson, Chicago Blackhawks left wing, explaining why he keeps a color photo of himself above his locker: "That's so when I forget how to spell my name, I can still find my (expletive) clothes." (this one's not so inspiring, but I thought it was pretty darn funny.) (On a not so far drop in PWR as I expected...) Wade Redden, on Ottawa's come from behind 6-2 win over Toronto: "Some days, the sun even shines on a dog's butt." (Even funnier than the one above) The St. Louis Blues Media Guide was recalled to the tune of a $70,000 loss as the result of a listing in the team record section. It related to the amount of 'Oral Satisfaction' that the team got in one game. Herb Brooks, 1980 US Olympic hockey coach: "You don't have enough talent to win on talent alone." And the last one: Fred Shero, Flyers Head Coach, at the 1974 Stanley Cup Finals: "Win today and we walk together forever." -- Just win, baby.

Greene's first two seasons weren't exactly "prim and proper"
-
It was nice to see Lee, Chorney, and Jones get points this weekend. Also, Toews gets a 3 goal weekend. Very nice. Oshie gets a 2 goal weekend. Again nice. Again, we trade off high scoring games. Not so nice. The other teams in the NCAA help us out. Nice. Well, here's to next week!

Well, congrats to Fargo South on their victory in another close game. So, now, the challenge is out! riders06 and crew: Whatcha gonna do? Gonna skip the site for a while? Gonna accuse South of doing something dirty/classless/cheating to win? Or are you going to take the high road and simply say that "Fargo South ended up on top. Congrats to the Fargo South Bruins on a great game and a great season."? ------------------------- I can't think of a better top three: 1. Fargo South 2. Grand Forks Red River 3. Grand Forks Central And the best honorable mention: Grafton/Park River. Gosh I wish the Bruins hockey team was worth a crap while I was at South. (Maybe they were, but I guess I didn't notice) In case you are wondering, I was at South from 1991 to 1995

As for the Marto/Genoway thing... I don't see either one as a tradeoff for Smaby. Marto has more of an offensive upside (potentially speaking... and from what it appears, it will be in the form of assists) while Genoway has a flexibility of assignment (Lee Marvin-esque). Neither are physical defensemen. I really wish we could have gotten Gryba. Oh well. As for Thiessen... Thiessen would be great. Kangas (unlikely) would be good too. Whomever we end up with, I hope he doesn't turn a Siembida. I like where we're headed at the Forward position. Landing Aaron Marvin would be really neat.

Mother "TUC"er! Can MSU be a TUC with a win over UW?
redwing77 replied to UNDLAW's topic in Men's Hockey
Wisconsin really is a sheep in wolf's clothing. When did UW hire Dahl as a consultant? -
I tried to throw as many rounds as I could but the host wouldn't allow me to go all in! I swear!!!
