Well, if Finley touches that guy he'll get called for elbowing or roughing or something like that.

Sure, siouxrube, I agree. We need to play 60 minutes of smart hockey, but how is that an individual problem? Does only certain players need to do that? Sorry, I think it's everyone from Porter and Bina down to Grieco (who I believe is the youngest Sioux) who needs to do that. If you want to call the Sioux out on that, fine. I agree. We need to play better in the 2nd and 3rd periods. We need to play better with the lead and when we are tied. And we need to stay out of the box.

Missed the post stating you were being sarcastic. Saw it and immediately deleted that post. I apologize for my oversight on that one. I am keeping the faith. I know that Finley was a project coming into UND. EVERYONE said that. EVERYONE. Does anyone realize that Finley's freshman year normally would be the average person's senior year in high school? Does that mean anything? This team is YOUNG. Even so, it's glaringly apparent that this team has to sweep or at least split every weekend for some of these fans to be happy. I'm sick of that! We're not going to win every game! We're going to lose some heartbreakers as well! This was one of them! Sure, we've had a bad loss this year (Friday game at UAA) but otherwise we've lost games to teams that just got all the breaks! We've got some problems, but people forget that most of our team problems are TEAM problems! Throwing players under the bus may make them feel better but it only makes it more ridiculous!

Anyone notice that Lee made a penalty and everyone calls for Finley's head? Hey, you know, Finley didn't do that badly tonight but I think Finley could go on a goal scoring tear and it won't matter. I think Finley needs to come to grips that he and Grieco just flat out suck. Who cares about Finley's last season where he was one of the best on the team in the second half. He sucks. Who cares that Grieco has only played in 6 games as a Sioux. He sucks. Who cares that Lee has done pretty darn well and is close to leading the team in PP points. He sucks. Too bad Hak has gone to 2 straight Frozen Fours. He sucks. Did I miss anyone? Let's face it. This team sucks. Let's all go down to Minnesota and root for the Gophers!
-
Oh dear God they all suck! Throw Lee under the bus! Throw Finley under the bus! Throw Grieco, Lamoureux, and Hakstol under the bus! Throw 'em all under the bus! Please. The reason why we lost this game is because our PK sucks and Lamoureux let in one REALLY weak goal (short sided him). So, do we play Walski now? Lives for Hockey 06 is close to having a heart attack, a North Dakota product in net and we didn't get it done. Lee recovered and got called for a penalty that MIGHT be weak, might not. TH really didn't talk much about it. His partner defended the call. It was one of those breaks other teams have been getting on us. Whoever gets the last penalty in the game loses. CC did have the last penalty kill before Lee went so it is only rational to think that UND would get penalized if there were another penalty to be called in the game. Lee didn't give them much of an option but it probably would have been a goal anyways so... whatever. We lost tonight. We'll come back tomorrow. Let's hope our passing improves and that we can find something other than the post.

Aw crap. We brought up Hirsch. Be prepared for a State of HOckey cheap shot at Bina... in 3....2.....

You must have learned the art of being cool and collected, right until you run some unsuspecting classmate into the boards with a hard bodycheck

I have a few game pucks, but my most prized part of my collection is a 2000 NC Team autographed Frozen Four T-Shirt. I wish I could have a game worn jersey, but I'm happy that I have the autographs of everyone who was on that 2000 NC team

Triouxper- I know what I was doing. I was sitting in front of the tube getting fat. In any case, neoflex and Lives to Play Hockey 06 have already thrown Grieco under the bus. Talking to them about Grieco is like talking to many posters here on how Okposo is the next coming of Vanek. It's just not worth the time.

I don't know. When the top team (if not the top team, at least one of the top 2 teams) in the country gets outed by a team that belongs in a conference many don't believe should even qualify to be in the NCAAs, holds the 16 out of 16 designation, and goes out there expecting to be blown out of the water only to win... Seems pretty darn significant to me. Sure, there are some that enjoy rubbing it in Gopher fans' faces, but many were there to witness David slay Goliath! Don't you think that would classify as a great time at the REA? The thread title is the "Greatest time at the REA" Not the "Greatest time a Sioux fan has had at the REA." Note some WJC references to quaify that.

Aw crap. Thanks for the correction. Changed it in the original post. Man was that game nuts.

Ok, I can't remember the date exactly, but my favorite game was at home vs. BC. We were down 4-2 going into the 3rd period and we scored 4 unanswered goals to win 6-4. It was loud, we were proud and Kaltaiinen (BC Goaltender) probably felt like crying. Other than that, being in a seat where I could hold up signs that could be read by the players and viewed easily by the cameras (so I was frequently on the jumbotron) was cool too.

Grieco WCHA rookie of the week....Porter nominated for Off.

I don't know what hockey1 thinks about Grieco. But I know that Lives-to-play-hockey-06 is anti-Grieco. I think we're lucky that two of the three goaltenders on the Sioux are from North Dakota or Lives to play would probably think all of our goaltenders suck. -
Sorry, but I disagree. Since Shanley is a Catholic school, I think prayer is something they have a lot of. It's just the offense and defense they don't have a lot of in this game.

Thanks PCM. Darned right about Vande. Every game he plays he gets better and better. Now if he'd only shoot the puck more....

Not to rephrase a line by Eskimos on the fight thread but.... We get it. You think Grieco sucks. Move on. -
Have a great T-day everyone.

I find that odd because usually the 21 year old freshmen hockey players attend Quinnipiac, Alaska Fairbanks, or Niagara.

You missed the word could. If I was an optimist, which I tend not to be, I would have used the term will Hockeymom- I know. I'm not belittling the ladies themselves. It would be ridiculous to say that they go out there and try to lose. They play their hardest and that's all I ask of them. I just think that the direction they are headed isn't the right one.

Somehow there's just something foreboding about Triouxper soliciting posters for the purposes of sniffing glue.

And that's my perspective to a tee. Cam Janssen isn't a player I care too much for. In fact, I don't know why he's dressed at all. He's being called a goon and you know what? I can't think of a better term for his gameplay. I'm not insinuating that NJ or Detroit NEVER fights (Duh... McCarty, Maltby, Draper, gosh there's a ton of em that have for Detroit alone.. Daneyko, Stevens for NJ) or that they haven't fought this season. Last season, though, they weren't involved in any fights and I think that warrants some applause. I really do believe that any one dimensional player (with perhaps exception being made to the stay at home defenseman) is not going to have a lot of value to the team. This isn't saying it can't be learned. (Dead horse coming!) Vanek was that way in Minnesota and in Rochester (AHL). He then got benched and since then, has worked hard enough on his defense that apparently he is now penalty killing for Buffalo. Yeah yeah, I'll know it when I see it, but seriously, one-dimensional players whose one dimension is fighting is, and rightfully so, heading the way of the dodo bird. And the faster they are extinct, the better. I don't care if you are Janssens, Worrell, Parker, or Boogaard.

Last weekend was very smartly played for the most part. And I think the Radke interference call was weaker than the hooking call.
-
And I noticed that my two favorite teams (Detroit and New Jersey) both went all of last season without being involved in a fight. No, NJ nor Detroit "won it all" but it kinda puts things in perspective when you think of how important fighting is to winning.

Yup. I wonder if all this "positive thinking" on the part of Phoenix is just smoke being blown up Jones' breezers? I'm sure there are plenty of teams that could use Jones' skills like San Jose, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Washington....
