  1. Exiled, it looks like Jutting is making a run at him too (should be the first article on home page, "Rookie Ronsberg taking Manitoba League by Storm"): http://www.wildcatsjrhockey.com/
  2. I can't help but continue to be concerned about fienhage's puckhandling. It seems he gets really nervous hands when he has the puck deep in the zone. I hate to say it but if he doesn't show more confidence with the puck he could be the odd man out. In my opinion the coaches were really interested in watching Gleason on the power play, and watching him rush the puck up the ice. I thought he showed pretty good poise with the puck as well. I just really think the battle for the 6th spot will be between those two guys because it certainly looks like that MacWilliam is lock to dress every night. But good competition is always healthy I guess.
  3. check brad's blog. Looks like this kid is pulling another "gregoire" in our favor.
  4. Extremely disappointing if you ask me. Frattin was poised to have a big season, and I was looking forward to seeing him skate with Malone and VV. But I guess you can't fix stupid. It does make me wonder if Corban Knight is getting a phone call though.
  5. Pretty sure he wants to go to college (month old article): http://sports.iowa.com/2009/05/constructin...y-teampart-two/ Hockey Canada scouting report (couple months old. He's reviewed at the bottom of page): http://www.hockeycanada.ca/index.php/ci_id/61292/la_id/1.htm And you can watch a video highlight and interview with him from Winnepeg's CTV here (he's about nine spots down from the media player, just click on his name) : http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews...ub=WinnipegHome
  6. While I'm at it I mine as well ask for another opinion. I believe it will be a surprise if Fink ever wears a North Dakota uniform. I admit I've only briefly seem him play, but he really seems to be having a hard time in the USHL (and he only has one more year of eligibility there I believe). We already know he isn't coming in this year, and the Sioux are only graduating a couple forwards and should have minimal early losses to the NHL again next year. This means Fink will have have to come in with the 2010 class which is going to very talented along with the remaining roster from 2009. The coach's would never take back an offer they made to a kid, but I just think Fink will have to choose between riding the bench for a couple years or going elsewhere for immediate playing time. And it is my opinion he will choose the latter.
  7. Even with the total number of forwards possible for next year, I still don't understand the coach's request for this kid to play another year of juniors. I find it hard to believe he wouldn't crack the lineup this year. But l guess the coaches know what they're doing.
  8. every college hockey website is against the Sioux Gopher recruits are overrated AJHL is an acronym for Another Jewel Hakstol Located Jeremy Morin is still considering going the college route the Final Five is best party of the year it's not that cold in Grand Forks in January while thinking about it in July Toews will come back since Oshie said he will Boston College just plays a faster game Gophers can keep the MacNaughton and Broadmoor, all we want are NCAA titles Mike Prpich proved that Marty McFly wasn't the only one who knew Doc Brown Brett Hextall is like Mike Prpich except he can score In three years of college Matt Greene had 347 PIM.......for a reason Blais can coach any team, anywhere, and be successful
  9. Little story on Dell and his commitment which explains how he expects to contend with Eidsness for playing time: http://www.airdrieecho.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1535246
  10. I can see how a player might be taken back by a team telling him to say, but it definately isn't an insult. I think when teams tell players, "it won't hurt you to go back", it only means that they have a lot of depth at their respective position in their system. I'm no Oiler expert, but it seems that they feel he will have intense competition when he does turn pro, so another year of seasoning at the collegiate level could only help him next year. I think the whole thing is more of a compliment to UND in that their organization feels he has progressed during his time here and they feel comfortable letting him continue his growth under Hak and the rest of the staff. Is it October yet?
  11. I can't imagine the Omaha Lancers are too thrilled either. And I also disagree with East's coach. Playing a lengthier schedule against ushl and college competition can only help a player raise his game. I also think the Sioux play the USA team again next year although I could be mistaken. That would be two years in a row a future recruit got to come in and play in the Ralph against future mates. Anyway, no matter what path he took it wouldn't sway my opinion that he is the best recruit the Sioux have. His potential is limitless and I can't imagine what a beast he will be when he fills his frame. Definate 1st round draft pick material and unfortunately a likely one or two year college player.
  12. He's still teasing us: http://news.therecord.com/Sports/article/517178
  13. I haven't seen him play too much in Des Moines but when Gleason was with Edina his style of play certainly resembled Chay's. It will be nice to have Chay there to mentor him and give him guidance on how best to use his speed.
  14. I agree he will probably go to the OHL but he is definately sticking to his word that he will wait until after the worlds in fargo: http://news.therecord.com/article/503347
  15. Very high praise for Kristo in the latest review of Canadien junior prospects (bottom of the page) : http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/1104...s200809_review/ This kid is starting to live up to the hype and could turn into something special. In my opinion he will be a 2 or 3 year player. Should be fun to see him in a Sioux jersey.
  16. In my opinion BU and Notre Dame have clearly put themselves above the rest of the nation or you could even say they are "Tier 1". With that analogy you can put the Sioux near the top of "Tier 2". With that said the best, or the worst depending on your view, part of college hockey is that anything can happen in the single elimanation format of the NCAA tournament. In my view the Sioux need to use the Final Five to recharge their batteries for the stretch run. They haven't been playing bad lately (obviously they've been winning) but consistency in special teams and skating have slipped a bit. With that said the elements are indeed in place for another deep run in the playoffs. My favorite part is watching Brad Eidsness week to week. This kid is clearly an intense competitor and he seems to always, and somehow quietly, come up with big saves each week. If the blueliners do their job it will be very tough to score on Brad the next few weeks. Thinking of his future is indeed a pleasant thought. Maybe the best part of this team is that I can't really tell how far than can go, but I know they can match up with anyone. However, the last time I really thought I knew a Sioux team is when this team entered the playoffs: http://www.fightingsioux.com/fls/13500/sta...DB_OEM_ID=13500 Not only did I think they would win the title but I thought the playoffs were just a formality. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that you never can tell who will rise to the top (see also Michigan State 2007) but it is a always an interesting and nerveracking ride.
  17. Some interesting movement is the ISS: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?id=11679
  18. That could really muck things up in the middle of the pairwise
  19. A minor goes to court to determine his new residence because his parents have been beating him. The judge asks,"How about your sister?", to which the young man replies,"She beats me too." The judge turns a page and asks,"How about your grandparents?", and the boy reponds,"They beat me too." The judge gets frustrated, and determines this will have to settled at a later date. In closing he tells they boy,"Until a proper household is established you can live at Mariucci Arena because no one gets beat there". I'm sure you've heard that one before, but anyway GO HUSKIES!
  20. Is this better?: http://www.critter-repellent.com/gopher/ho...CFQVhnAodFjPQqg
  21. CHRE has Rau #2 and Nelson #5 for available MN forwards: http://collegehockeyrecruitexchange.blogsp...t-rankings.html I agree completely with his #1, Travis Boyd. Although he's not too big yet, he's shown tremendous ability for being so young: http://mbhsh.stats.pointstreak.com/playerp...p;seasonid=3534 I really hope the Sioux make a play for him because you gotta belive the are all over him, and it's always sweet to win those battles.
