  1. Collegehockey247.com has an article on Van Voorhis today saying he chose denver over boston college and that the sioux we never really in the running. Mentions how he lived in grand forks for 12 years and went to games but his fascination with the sioux faded a bit as he got older. He said something to the effect that sometimes the team you grow up with isn't necessarily the school meant for you.
  2. I don't get this either. The Sioux are in the mix with a couple other NTDP players so it's almost a cetainty he was recruited especially being from MN. Maybe he got blown away after a visit out there, but who knows. Good get by Gwoz once again.
  3. Collegehockey247 is reporting Nick Ebert will visit UND March 5-6 and he admits that if he enjoys the visit he will committ shortly after. He stated that the Sioux are cleary his No. 1 choice right now and he says they have they have shown the most interest in him. If you search the internet you will realize how big time this kid is. The only problem is that the OHL will be all over him and I am surprised to hear he is even looking at colleges, let alone UND. Either way, the Sioux could have a very pleasant March from the recruiting front. Here is one of the many stories on him: http://vmedia.rivals.com/uploads/960/886446.pdf
  4. You're probably thinking of this kid: http://www.mnhockeyhub.com/roster_player/show/166503 He currently leads the state in scoring, but I have no clue on his potential. It could be similar to Joey Benik from St. Francis (St. Cloud comitt), in which the kid has talent but his stats are inflated due to the competition. But this is all a guess, I really don't have a clue on the potential here.
  5. I believe that story is from last year. I linked an article from the site earlier, but if anyone is interested in a pretty good new recruiting site that started up this month: http://collegehockey247.rivals.com/default.asp They get a lot of interviews with NTDP players, and I assume that's because one of the writers is from Michigan. You have to pay in order to read the ticketed articles though. Anyway, if you look at the first article they printed on January 13 you will see Grimaldi has narrowed his choice down to three schools: Denver, Notre Dame, and North Dakota. He indicated he is in contact with all three coaching staffs, and has visited all but North Dakota. However he has scheduled a visit soon. I only bring this up because I think it would be surprising that he has tossed these three schools aside and jumped to the WHL in a span of 2 weeks.
  6. The pipeline show boys said the coaching staff will decide if he comes in, but he is indeed graduating this year: http://thepipelineshow.blogspot.com/2010/0...ioux-bound.html
  7. You don't think he's number 6 on the chart right now? Interesting. Who is?
  8. Huge news and it is a little pick me up considering how the football game ended. It is a little confusing though that he may come in next year, but you have to trust the coaching staff I guess. They may convince him to spend another year in juniors or they know someone is leaving. If everyone does stay though you gotta think Fienhage will transfer. Not to pick on him, but you would have to think he would struggle to see ice time. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
  9. If you join this website you will see that indeed Grimaldi mentions he is visiting North Dakota and has been in contact with the coaching staff. He mentions his final three as notre dame, denver, and north dakota. Seems he really liked notre dame's campus and obvious eduaction opportunities. Says he wants to see a game at the Ralph because his dad saw a game there and was blown away. He also mentions how he is gonna take a lot of time in deciding because he wants to be 100% sure when he decides.
  10. This is probably the kid that was over 6', judging by this article: http://collegehockey247.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1039741
  11. He's been considered one of the top '93's in the country for a while now. He's a crackerjack and if the Sioux are indeed recruiting him it would be a homerun out of the park if they got him. He's also a very smart and religious kid as listed in his bio from last year: http://mwehl.stats.pointstreak.com/playerp...p;seasonid=2992 He's major OHL bait and I have a hard time believing that if he does play college hockey it will be outside of the state of michigan, but I always hope for a miracle too.
  12. Figured this picture represents a good analogy of the "goofs" season so far. GO SIOUX!!!
  13. Looks like Wisconsin has six senior forwards so he may have saw more of an opportunity there to jump right from high school. Or he could just be a dip sh**. Either way, he is no longer relevant.
  14. Hockey's future obviously spent some time scouting the sioux last weekend in Chicago. Here's a Q & A with Blood now: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/1176...with_ben_blood/
  15. Gregoire got interviewed by Hockey's Future: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/1175...jason_gregoire/
  16. INCH is also hinting that the sioux are in the Dillon Simpson sweepstakes: http://insidecollegehockey.com/inch/2010/0...akers-for-2010/ He is a stud in the AJHL as a 16 year old: http://www.ajhl.ab.ca/leagues/rosters_prof...playerID=471696 I guess the bad part is that his Dad went to Michigan State, but it still will be interesting to see where he ends up.
  17. Yeah, looking at this roster: http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/feature/?id=13609, and realizing the likes of Stamkos, Tavares, Bogosian would all be eligible, if not playing in the NHL, it gives you an idea of what stratosphere Canada is in when it comes to hockey.
  18. I don't know if this was posted elsewhere but Brad was on the pipline show discussing the WJC: http://www.thepipelineshow.com/clips/seaso...ssman_dec22.mp3
  19. I've been curious as well to see if the sioux land him. It appears for now that it between the sioux and duluth: http://www.mnhockeyhub.com/page/show/11742...ion-i-prospects Also, Chris Dilks has done a few write ups on him and really likes his style: (he's #8 on this list) http://www.westerncollegehockeyblog.com/20...ckey-watch-list
  20. Disappointing to let that one get away. However, Wisconsin is no slouch, with their high scoring defensemen and puck moving gritty forwards they are going to be a tough team down the stretch. Denver, UMD, Wisconsin, CC all look to be very tough. I think the national power pendulum has swung back to the WCHA for sure. It is going to be a hell of a second half of the season in this league. And it is now pretty obvious the Sioux won't survive without Genoway. A 2-5-2 record without him doesn't lie. They are plenty competitive in his absence, but they need him to get over the hump in these close games.
  21. Tough loss and unfortuately I think the boys on the ice got gassed on the possesion where Duluth tied it. Would like to see Sioux finish off some of these leads, but more importantly I'd like to see them get healthy. Injuries are a part of the season, but the Sioux have certainly had some big ones this year so far. Hopefully we at least get VV back for next weekend because Sconnie is toughest team no one is talking about and they could certainly punch the sioux square in the mouth next weekend if they are not ready.
  22. Denverpost.com has a good article on the rivalry also. We all have seen how this series has heated up over the years, and in my mind it is emotionally surpassing the Gopher matchups. I think that because both of these teams are always near the top of the standings and they each bring a competitive fire that hockey fans love to see. Gopher players seem more concerned about how they hair looks in the mirror before the games and coincidently that series has been lopsided in favor of the Sioux in recent years.
  23. It may be mean to say, but I think Fiehnage and recruit Mike Fink should pursue other options. In my opinion their future is limited at UND, but could improve somewhere else.
  24. Does anyone know if the UND coaches have officially had contact with Luke Johnson? I know he may be to young for them to make contact but every kid can request a visit at anytime. He continues to pop up on some of the scouting sites I slave over and I never knew he was a 5th round pick in the WHL draft http://www.whl.ca/draft/draft.php?round=5. I think that is reasonably high for a kid from the states and I'm sure they'll make a run at him if he continues to impress.
