Is the following a true or false statement:

Exposure via a known brand > conference/school $$ from a streaming service only its specific watchers have.

And for the record, my interest in ESPN includes spots on ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU, not just ESPN+

Exposure can't be translated into specific dollar amounts to set budgets and pay bills.

No argument that it makes the product more available and puts more eyes on it but I believe the NCHC.tv contract was fairly good for UND.

How good are your sources on those amounts?  I have some knowledge of NDSU paying $500,000 to keep their WR but I haven't verified that yet.

I actually hope that is accurate.

Might as well benefit from the Wild West while it lasts. It’s on the useless and corrupt NCAA to figure it out. They set the rules. Can’t blame schools, boosters, and athletes for playing within them.

At some point, the clearinghouse will look at these alleged "market rates" for college athletes and determine that they aren't actually that. They are being paid to play. Which is not what NIL was created for. Everyone knows that is what is currently going on, however it just isn't being enforced.

The truly bad side (which is saying a lot with the unregulated disaster it has become) of it is the kids who continue to get bad advice, which is happening on all ends of the spectrum from Tennessee's former QB to low level kids being told to go in the portal to get money when there isn't a home for them and now they are done playing. Lot of bad actors out there taking advantage of people with no consequences.

NIL money for mid-major women's BB is not a thing.

One of the UND WBB players who transferred asked a P4 school about a fairly small amount of NIL money (compared to MBB, but still more than anyone is currently getting at UND) and they basically laughed.

This would be a little tricky for students that graduated in three years that want to transfer to another school because their current school doesn't offer the desired major. Case by case basis maybe.

There are already separate rules for grad transfers.

Since everything is getting to be more like pro sports anyway, the team losing a player if it is of the players volition should get some compensation.

I like this idea, but then the team that loses a player is likely going to be grabbing someone else from the portal to fill the hole in their line-up (or be faced with a very young line-up). Never ending cycle.

Sure is quiet on the men’s bb transfer in for UND.

is Sather not recruiting or if he is why is it so quiet on results

Lot of recruiting going on. Players have to be the one's to let it out.

What really surprised me was that Chaves said he was surprised and caught off guard when Mal said she was stepping down.  He really is that far removed from the program??  That 8 girls had put their names in the portal and he thought business as usual?

Where exactly was the part that he was supposed to be able to predict the things mentioned above happened within a few hour window?
There was not an indication from the players that there was going to be an exodus. They definitely didn't let anyone on to what was going to happen. And the coach was still under contract.

Unfortunate turn of events that was not foreseen. They moved quickly, looks like a quality replacement is in place and everyone has a good outlook going forward.

For those wondering why the press conference was not done as quick as others, Hutter was immediately on the road and working on solving the roster issue, so some time was requested in order to take care of that part of things first.

Seeing your picture, your post makes less sense than tariffs on uninhabited islands.

NDSU lost in the first round, upset by the #6 seed, ending T-5 with 4 other schools.
UND lost in the semis, ending T-3 with 1 other school.

Thanks for you response. Allow me to contribute this.  Und and other institutions of higher learning, will always be concerned about their image.
+ The nodak logo was a very bad look.

+Prior to this however, the a.d./berry had decided to bring mitchell miller in (a skilled defenseman)to join the hockey team. Problem was, he had been bullying a disabled kid for many years. This occured @ a school in ohio. This case made its way thru the courts. Miller wouldnt follow thru on the courts directives. Would not take responsibility either. A couple of nhl teams wanted to draft this kid. But th nhl commissioner ruled, miller wouldnt be allowed to play in the nhl. Still, our a.d./berry wanted the kid on our hockey team. Armacost found out about this. He also made the decision, miller wouldnt be allowed to play here. Und pres knew special interest groups would make life a living hell for und. The aclu would more than likely get involved.

So, why are these events so significant? This calls into question berrys ability to make smart decisions. In addition, his integrity, ethics, poor leadership abilties, lack of common sense, lack of intelligence and honesty really take a hit. No institution can have a person in a position of leadership. The damage from these two issues would take years to recover from. Please take the time to do some research. I believe you’ll find the backstory is very clear. Berry put himself in a very bad position. Im not out to make life miserable for coach berry. I believed in him. I thought he was a great guy. I just believe the whole story needs to be told. People in positions of leadership @ und need to know there’s no free pass. To sweep any of this under the rug and try to move forward. Would be nothing short of a travesty. Und my alma mater, and my favorite sioux hockey team deserves better. I still cant believe we didnt really know who coach berry is/was. If anyone wants to attack me for what i’ve written. Please have at it. Facts are what they are. Go sioux

His timeline is incorrect. Miller was drafted, then the victim's mom reached out to a Coyotes journalist to bring the story to light. Then UND booted him.

The league didn't say he wasn't welcome until a few years later when the Bruins signed him to a free agent contract.

So you're saying someone should have followed their own advice?

This is what they should do to get people to donate to the NIL collective. For these destination games, you should get priority to how much you give to the NIL collective for hockey and not by Champions Club donations.

It would an interesting exercise seeing how upset you could make you biggest and most tenured donors to the actual University, that is for sure.

Completely get where you are going with the idea, but until the Champions Club gets enough money to fully support scholarships across the board and get them endowed, probably a non-starter.

You are all grown men/women spouting off about things you know nothing about. Jocie is an amazing kid. Her family, also. They made the best decision for her because the AD couldn’t do what needed to be done sooner.

If you're going to criticize everyone else, could you fill us in on the whole story?

Other than the less visible programs, how often do they go outside?   One hiring I wish they would have kept with UND ties is the Athletic Director.  Josh Morton > Bill Chaves.

Never applied. Or he somehow wasn't a finalist, which I find hard to believe.

Just listened. Basically they don’t understand how this decision was made this quick and think it was a bad process and that Chaves knew who he wanted when he fired Berry. Talked about how Berry’s letter begged them to look outside.

If he was truly the guy, unless you are doing it for appearances only, why bother with the work of opening it up as an external hire. That makes no sense.

Unfortunately if you are coaching mid-major basketball in these times, you aren’t recruiting the right players if you are just getting kids that are staying 4 or 5 years no matter what. You need kids talented enough to move on after a couple of years and just hope you can keep most of them. NIL money, even just a small amount in WBB will help keep them. The good thing is there should be more talented high school kids available  for the mid majors if the high majors are taking transfers rather than high school kids.

Fairly accurate for the most part.
I think you want to make sure the kids are bought in and not immediately looking out for their own interests instead of the team and don't have one foot out the door, but be clear if they buy-in, succeed and want to look at other opportunities after the season, you'll support it.

Maybe sometimes parents are too controlling.

People can go ahead and blame the AD all they want, so far of base with this. It is going to be a fun one...
