  1. The Sioux weathered the storm tonight. We won a game that we really only played about 5 minutes well. Bemidji outworked and outhustled us most of the night. In the end our skill won out, but this was really a learning night. I think the coaching staff will use it as something to build upon.

    1. you have to play 120 minutes of hockey each weekend to win in this league.

    2. you need to work hard, not everything is about "pretty"

we beat a highly motivated BSU team. We're going to need to keep improving. BSU will be even better come March...so will the rest of the league.

Take the win, take the learnings and get ready for next weekend.

Totally disagree. The Sioux were never in danger of losing either nights. Sure BSU played a good game but never once did I think they were going to beat the Sioux.

You see this is more of a learning experience for BSU. They should start to understand that they are in the WCHA now and every weekend doesn't guarantee them points like it may have in the CHA. I think your sentence that says the sioux only played well for five minutes is so untrue it is hard to take the post seriously. Do we need to work on things absolutely. As everyone else gets better so too should UND.

  2. Thanks I will give that a try

I have Midco HD package with Premium HBO and Stars/Encore. I also added the Sports Package which gives me some 300 level sports channels. Big Ten Network etc...

If I go to my menu and hit 597 both games are listed to be televised. I make sure that I get that channel and go into it without any problem. So here is the only hiccup. What has happened in the past with midco is that the guide is not displaying accurate information. And essentially you think the game is televised but then you actually end up watching somethng other then the game. So baring any of those type issues it is looking pretty promising. I am not sure what package you need to have with Midco to get that channel but I pretty much laid out my package other then the phone and internet service I have bundled with it. I will certainly be crossing my fingers.

  3. Goals by JoLam, Parizek, and Dagenais. Near the end of the 2nd period.

I really hope UND can hang on, that would be a huge upset of the #1 team...plus UMD fans were talking smack after the 4-0 win the other night. :)

This doesn't happen to be on tv does it?

  4. A P A T HY ! Unfortunately, I am catching it! And I am a very long time loyal Sioux fan. I just do not see enough signs of improvement in several programs including FB which I thought had turned the corner. The embarassing performance at Idaho and the last two weeks offensive performances just are too frustrating to maintain any interest in this program. One running back and one wide receiver do not an offense make.

I am a UND alumn and I have never fully embraced UND football. Don't get me wrong I want nothing but the best for that program. I am more of the college hockey fan then college football. So this is coming from someone kind of looking from the outside. I have really seen no improvement from this team since Lennon left. It appears as though we have gone backwards as a program. Granted we probably face tougher teams then before but you should see some progression throughout a season. I am not pointing my fingers at anyone but just an honest observation. Thoughts?

  5. Sorry, but I am not a Grandfather yet! Our momentum continues to grow relentlessly, irrespective of your snide remarks, lack of cohesive thinking, and total disregard for vision and positive change for our Great State. I respect your opinion and that's the way it will remain as Team North Dakota continues to move forward. :):)

Mr. Kiefer I appreciate your wanting to make things better within the NDUS and I respect that. If so be it will be decided by the great people of this state. No one person or group can ultimately decide the fate of this issue without the consent of the people. So you sir go move forward "relentlessly" and if be the people will answer your question. Yah or Nah.

  6. DU beat the U18 team 8-1 last night...Grimaldi had an assist on the lone USA goal.

Funny, now if you read up on some DU blogs, they are going to dominate just because they beat up on some 17 yo kids. :)

Heck, Chambers goes as far as to say that they are already in midseason form and that Zucker is unstoppable. :D

I really hope that we mop the floor with DU this year. ;)

Oh god! Please don't tell me Chambers and DG already have the Checklist up?

I thought they learned their lesson last year.

  7. Highly touted forward recruit AJ Michaelson from Apple Valley said he has narrowed down his choices to U of M and UND. He will make his decision after attending the BSU-UND opening series in Bemidji.

He is a junior in highschool right now.

Perhaps I am over thinking this but why would you go to a UND/BSU game to decided whether you were going to UND or U of M. Seems to me I would attend a game of the team I planned to commit to other then going to a game of the team I don't plan to commit. Just a thought.

  8. Does anyone have any more specific info regarding the online numbers? I didn't see any note of them in the "enrollment statistics" section on UND's page. I've heard this is UND's most significant growth area, but I'd be curious exactly what UND's online enrollment numbers are. I know online students are real students taking real classes, but campus certainly doesn't feel different or more crowded than in years past.

Once the numbers are made public(und community) I will try post them here for interested parties.

  9. After a significant wait on an NCAA helpline a very helpful, knowledgable, and articulate lady offered her comments on this question: Would the NCAA have any jurisdiction on the combining of two member institutions into one flagship entity with separate campuses? Her answer "That issue would not be any of our business."

An attorney serving on the Team North Dakota steering committee will request that in a formal written fashion. As with all of of our activities we will operate with complete and total transperancy.

    Hail the Fighting Tatankas!!!! :)

I can just see the pc crowd loving that nickname. You will have Native Americans and Peta so far up your butt you wont know which way to turn.

  10. Fasching is not a D. Last night he was on a line with Michaelson and Justin Kloos (Lakeville South) and they were the best line on either team.

Lots of talent on the SE and SW teams. Molenaar is smooth, not at the Leddy level but very talented. I'm not sure if he'll spend a year in juniors before starting his college career. No surprise but Michaelson stands out; big and fast. Fasching has a big body compared to some of the other sophomores in the Elite league. Both Michaelson and Fasching will play for Apple Valley this season. I don't know if AV will be coming to the Stadstad tournament in again this year but if they do that would be a great time to check out a very good high school team. The Sioux are also looking at a third Apple Valley kid, Vince Pedrie (junior D).

Apple Valley will be here again this yr for the Stadstad tourney. Fasching also paid UND a visit a couple weeks back.

  11. Michaelson is a forward. I'm not sure if you knew that and were just grouping him into players you'd like to see us get or not. But since we are discussing D, I wasn't sure why you listed him. Fasching is a D. Saw both him and Michaelson(and a bunch of other players) play last night in the Elite League.

To the person who asked about Evan's brother Hayden Trupp... Hayden is small and probably needs to get a little stronger before he can make it to college. He plays a similar game to Evan from what I've heard.

Siouxforce19. I am aware that Michaelson is a forward. I just would like to see us get him.

  12. So the Sioux are near capacity for Forwards for the next few years, but looking for some D.

    Still out there is:

    Dan Molenaar from Gopher territory

    Schmaltz the former Wisconsin recruit

Nolan Zajac (yes, brother) playing in the BCHL

Siouxnami you hit the nail on the head. We do need to start getting some D recruits. Hopefully we can land Schmaltz. I would like to see the sioux land Hudson Fasching, AJ Micahelson, Jordan Schmaltz and some other d players. I know some of these players will come in at different times. Hudson being a 10th grader.
